One of my favourites when I want«white food» and sit at «full size adult furniture» :). Nacho’s are good, some of the salads I had were excellent and the most entrées are what you would see back home in North America. The service has an attitude edge to it, that always turns me off. I do like to shop at this mall and when I do, I usually make a stop for something familiar to my culture and away from the standard Asian fare.

Even being from America and knowing Chicago, we have never been to a Dan Ryan’s. Although we liked the American vibe, wood floors, fun bar feel when you walk into this place and all the décor is appealing, everything else for us during our visit fell flat. I wavered between a two or three star on this review. This review is somewhere in between. Food was average, at best. A bowl of chili and the side dish of broccoli were the highlights and that is never a good sign if these were the highlights. My husnad ordered a quesadilla. It was hot, but not flavorful and served with guacamole that was a whip and probably from a big tub. Not fresh. I ordered linguine with white wine sauce. It appeared with a sauce that was a touch more thick and appeared creamy and not like a white wine sauce. No flavor to it. They have an extensive menu and maybe their burgers or meat are the way to go, but we will not be back to know. The whole experience has the feeling more of TGI Fridays, when we thought it would feel and taste a touch more upscale than that. Service is not engaging and not very welcoming. Unless you are waving them over and getting their attention, they were not providing any service. I know this can kind of be a standard around Hong Kong, but nothing was noteworthy on the service and a place like this we kind of expected a bit more. The manager came over to inquire about our meal at one point, but he appeared to be American himself, so he too knows the standard of what one should expect from customer service. As I constantly say, sometime the customer service can kill the whole experience. In this case, it was a combination of food and customer service that killed the experience for us. As a prior review indicates, go for the fun bar and drinks. Food experience is not worth it.

This place is perfectly adequate for drinking. However the food is utter crap. I went to the pan Pacific location and paid USD $ 30 for a hamburger and fries. I would conservatively estimate that the beef first went into the freezer around 2007. I ate one bite and cut my losses there. The fries were pretty standard frozen fare. Again, the bar and drinks are fine. The food is beyond abysmal. The rest of the menu is pasta, burgers, and ribs. I doubt anything is fresh, just reheated wholesale slop.

Dan Ryan’s is a family style restaurant. If you want American comfort food, this is the place to go. They have 3 outlets in Hong Kong. I have been to all of them and the quality at each of them is the same. The setting is simple and rustic. Service is quick, friendly and efficient. The wine list short which is absolutely fine for this place. The selection of beer and other spirits is much better. The food selection is excellent and the portions generous. From my point of view the ribs are the best in town. My other favorites include chicken strips, Nachos, Caesar salad and the burger. Excellent value for money.

This place is definitely a guilty pleasure. Overpriced, but ok on the occasion when missing/craving American bar food favorites. The food isn’t anything fantastic and more expensive than it would be in the US, but we’re not in the states so you pay a bit more to get this food here in HK! The atmosphere is a pretty relaxed, sports bar without all the drunkenness that a sports bar in the states can attract. I feel like at least half the crowd every time I’ve been here are people visiting HK and staying in one of the Pacific Place hotels. The locals seem to be attracted by the American vibe and actually think THIS place is an interesting glimpse a different cultural experience! In addition to the guilty pleasure bar food, notably the burgers and fries, I like that you can come in solo, take your time, people watch, watch whatever sporting event is on the big screen, or even read etc, especially at the high tables along the wall. Although it’s not a regular destination, I’ll admit I get that craving for this place once every 4−5months or so, especially if I haven’t been back to the US in a while.

This is a review for the TST branch. Been going to this place since 1999, horrendous service with the new management. Been waiting for our main course for 30 mins. Girl at the front told me she can’t put my name on the list — «it’s my first day I’m sorry». What kind of nonsense? Pick up the pen and write down a customer’s name and the phone number. Simple as that! A bunch of manager-looking guys standing around avoiding customers … what’s up with that. The food quality has gone down. Mediocre starters, burgers, pastas. Mother’s pasta is not even fully cooked. Also, you have to ask for the bread basket now? Wth?

Hong Kong is on Unilocal! So happy because I finally get to post this review. I’ve been going to Dan Ryan’s since 1997 and wouldn’t leave Hong Kong without a visit to Dan Ryan’s. The décor is all Chicago memorabilia so for those from the U.S. it will be very familiar. The restaurant is very comfortable and when I’ve been there seating was usually never a problem. The menu is typical«American» fare and I had to laugh at the menu where it stated at the top some warning that they serve«American» sized portions and I would agree! I’ve had burgers that are quite good, but my all time favorite is their Club Sandwich. For those not familiar with this treat, it’s a triple decker sandwich traditionally with layers of turkey, ham and bacon with lettuce and tomato. Sounds pretty simple but hands down this is the best Club sandwich I’ve had anywhere in the world(literally) to include any place in the U.S. They have full dinners of steak, chicken, ribs and other traditional American foods but when I come here, it’s for the burgers and sandwich. The onion rings are quite exceptional as well. The only negative thing about this place… is there isn’t one in the U.S. There are many restaurants in the U.S. that have similar menus and similar themes but none have the food quality that Dan Ryan’s has. I’ve seen some less than positive reviews on here regarding Dan Ryan’s and I think those people need to understand the type of restaurant this is and rate it accordingly. I live in the U.S. and therefore am quite familiar with restaurants very similar to Dan Ryan’s and they pale in comparison when it comes to food quality. I look forward to my next trip to Hong Kong and I will without a doubt visit Dan Ryan’s.

I tell you what… this place has awesome food, especially if your an American who’s been working in China for the past two weeks eating nothing but Chinese food. Try these and cheese lobster, Rubin, or Pene Bolognese(make sure to ask for Pene pasta in the Bolognese).

Today was my first time at this place and I really enjoyed it. A friend of mine and I wanted to try a new restaurant in Pacific Place and he suggested this one because he had tried another branch in TST which now seems to be closed. And it was really convenient for me since I work in Admiralty. When I got there by lunch time it wasn’t very busy — I told the girl at the reception that I wanted to have a look and see if my friend had arrived and she was a little rude. However, the rest of the staff was very very friendly, solicitous and efficient. Very quick to take orders and serve. They also refilled our glasses of water and iced lemon tea all the time. They say on the menu that portions are big and by the looks of some dishes in other tables, they are. So we made up our minds and ordered a steak sandwich and a papaya and chicken salad. The steak came with fries which my friend approved and thought were very well done(always a good sign in an American-like restaurant!). The meat was great and he finished the whole plate really quickly. My salad was very yummy too: came with a mango dressing and the mix of papaya, cucumber, tomato, chicken and herbs worked nicely. We were served some bread in the beginning too and that was, for my friend, one of the best ones he had ever tried. Our dishes were medium sized and maybe a little overpriced — my salad was around 160HKD which is expensive for a salad, but it was packed with ingredients. Will I come back? Maybe, if I’m around, but not necessarily on purpose.

Dan Ryan’s Grill in Pacific Place, Is mainly about convenience. It is right next door to the cinema, so it is a convenient place to come before or after the movie. Would I make a special trip to Dan Ryan’s Grill? I’m not so sure. The menu at Dan Ryan’s grill is fantastic. It is full of the hearty American classics that I really love, including burgers, steaks, grilled chicken, pasta, seafood, salads. The menu is very extensive, so you’re bound to have something there that you would like. Unfortunately, for this style of food, I do find the pricing a little bit steep. A steak and chips will set you back near HK$ 400, and even a simple lasagna or salad costs more than HK$ 170. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind paying this sort of cost, if the food is worth it. Unfortunately, I don’t think the food preparation here is as good as the price suggests. I suspect that they get a lot of transient tourist trade from the cinema and the local hotels in PP, so they may be don’t have to concern themselves too much about repeat business. It is a shame as if they just stepped it up one notch, I would certainly be back. Despite being in a shopping centre, once you get inside the restaurants, it is very pleasant. The ambience is relatively quiet, it is well decorated, and genuinely does make me feel as though I am in a Chicago grill restaurant in the US, and not in Pacific Place in Hong Kong. The staff are friendly and attentive, they can be a little bit stuffy, but this may be down to be very formal dress. All in all, I would come back to the arm feels, and the staff. Unfortunately I won’t be coming back in a huge hurry, due to be slightly in adequate preparation of the food.
