Crown Point Clippers Tree Service

We have had CPC perform work on our trees 3 times over several years. Each time they have responded quickly to requests for quotes and their prices have always been reasonable. The work crews arrive as scheduled, interact with you as they work, and clean up thoroughly afterward. We have been very happy with the results.

Although it took some time to arrange for the tree trimming, it was worth the wait because the workers did a terrific job. Most importantly, the lead worker agreed to do everything I asked without hesitation. This was refreshingly the exact opposite of a different company I previously used in which the lead worker complained and was unwilling to do certain trimming.

CPC has been doing tree work for us for more than 12 years. They always do a great job! They are knowledgeable about trees and landscape and it shows in their high quality work. They communicate well about the job and really clean up before they leave.

JOKE. It is almost comical how poorly run this company is. We have been trying to give them money to do our yard for over a month, to no avail. This company simply does not respond to emails or phone messages. They use a third party answering service to screen all calls. When your calls to that service are unsuccessful, which they certainly will be, they tell you that they will call the company directly to make sure your call is answered. I was told this when I called after numerous unanswered emails and calls. I did finally get a call back from a «scheduler» who couldn’t really do anything other than tell me that the owner schedules all work. Because it was like my sixth time trying to give them money, she promised me that she was going to call the owner right away. She specified «we will not drop the ball on this, if you do not get a call back from the owner in 30 minutes, call me back and I will make sure we take are of you.» That was 36 hours ago. Needless to say, we will not be chasing them for a seventh time to give them $ 1200 to trim our trees. Like I said, JOKE of a company.

Great prices and always a great job. Just know that they have a hard time with communication between their answering service and the owner. Be patient and persistent in order to get hold of them… its worth it.

Crown point clippers did a great job trimming my two palm trees. I have had two or three different companies trim my trees over the past eight years and this is the best the trees have looked. Not sure if they are the lowest price but differently a good value for your money. Also quick to respond thru email and phone for estimate and scheduling.

David and his crew did a great job of removing a problematic pepper tree… they were efficient and did the work at a very reasonable cost… there was a small delay in scheduling the work because david was out fighting fires! good for you david… thanks

I have had CPC do lots and lots of work (much of it annually in regard to maintenance) and they have always done an excellent job. Also, David’s crew are courteous and you wouldn’t even know they were there in regard to the state of all other surrounding landscaping. Additionally prices are very fair!
Originally got the recommendation from a neighbor who has used them for years and years — so that is an added bonus review that likely does not appear on Unilocal.

This was our fourth time using Crown Point Clippers.
Every single time, I’ve meant to write a review. At last!
We have three beautiful — quite large — birch trees. We have Crown Point come out about every other year to lace the trees. They do an amazing job, … namely keeping the trees healthy and lush and in proportion with our yard.
David is wonderful to work with. He comes out in short notice for the estimate. Scheduling is a piece of cake. His crew is awesome. Polite, hardworking, knowledgeable, and … hopefully not sounding racist, but this is important… English speaking (communication is of paramount importance.) They usually send out a large crew, so the work is completed in a short amount of time. They bring their own chipper!
Another plus? They accept credit cards. A nice treat is in talking to the sweet and friendly lady who processes your payment. A delight!

David came by for the consultation & we decided to go w/​CPC for the job bc of good Unilocal reviews, and also he gave us a reasonable quote. On the day of the job, the crew came on time. They were very friendly, polite, and respectful. David had told the crew that we had a jacuzzi nearby so they brought necessary stuff to cover it from any damage. They also helped to put a tarp over our parked car. Francisco climbed the tree on the backside so the boot markings were more hidden. They also asked me how much I wanted off/​leave on, allowing me to customize the look I wanted on my trees. They were quick to remove the branches to the shredder machine, raked up my yard of any leftover parts, and neatly cleaned up all the debris.
I must say that my experience w/​CPC is unlike some of the other reviews. David is very responsive to emails. When I call, my messages get delivered. If you are expecting there to be no debris/​dust from the removal of your trees by a saw and for them to clean up every inch, then I do think that’s an unreasonable expectation. I also would recommend closing your windows, courtesy notice to your neighbors beforehand, voicing your concerns or desires, asking questions, etc. I personally think this is common sense.
I couldn’t be more satisfied w/​the work CPC did for us. I truly appreciate it so much! I will be recommending CPC to our neighbors and anyone we know who needs tree services.

We just had Crown Point Clippers trim five date palms at our building. So far the trees look OK although in my head I think I pictured a little more aggressive trimming than what came out in the end, but then again I’m not an arborist so it’s very possible that more aggressive trimming isn’t possible w/​o harming the tree???
Pricing wasn’t cheap either although it wasn’t terrible given the other bids we got for the job.
I am however withholding two stars and giving three instead of five for:
1. I found a broken landscape light that got kicked or stepped on. I know it was OK prior to the job because just this past weekend I did a walkthrough looking for burned out bulbs and I know this fixture was not broken before. Need to take care to cover landscape lighting fixtures, such as maybe cover them with a small traffic cone.
2. One of our adjacent residents to the trees said they came home to find their patio furniture pushed around and the patio left a mess with shavings and clippings. In addition, they got debris inside their unit as well (probably through open windows). We had not received a specific date of the job (perhaps our property management company didn’t forward it to us?) but if it’s typical for such a job to be a mess, I would have liked to have seen communication from CPC somehow that nearby living units should have their windows closed on such-​and-​such a date and we would have communicated this to our residents.
Based on the above, I would have to say overall the job was OK but not stellar. 4 or 5 stars would be attention to detail and I can’t say I found attention to detail here. Plus, I had to apologize to the resident for the mess and being on the HOA board, I’m getting tired of having to apologize for vendors that miss details or come through like a bull in a china shop and sadly this was another one of those cases.
We might consider them again, but I recommend putting in whatever bid for the job that you explicitly require broom-​swept cleanup to customer’s satisfaction as a requirement of the job and explicitly protecting fixtures as part of the job.

David from Crown Point Clippers was courteous and true to his word. The process of getting a quote was easy. The staff that arrived to remove the palm and stump grind were clean, courteous and had good attention to detail to avoid damaging plants when dropping the tree.

Very poor communication. Don’t respond to emails in a timely manner. And when they do reply, they don’t answer any questions you’re asking. Disappointed.

Requested a quote from David by message. He responded immediately and quoted a good price.
Called the office to schedule the appointment. Left a message w/​the receptionist for David to call me back. Day went by, no call. Called again, the next day and told the receptionist he hadn’t called me back. She verified my info was correct and said she’d immediately contact him and tell him to return my call. He never did.

We have used Crown Point Clippers a few times over the last 3 years. We always had a great experience with them and have referred them to friends and clients. They came this morning to remove one leaning palm tree and to trim 8 others. It was a bigger crew than in the past. They were all very friendly and professional, and I’d say our yard, sidewalks and curb are cleaner than they here before. They were done in maybe an hour and a half, which was convenient for us. Crown Point Clippers has consistently given us the lowest estimate from any bonded and insured professional tree company that we have had out to our place. My husband did a lot of research when we first hired them, and we will use them again in the future (hopefully that will be a while, they left the palm trees nicely trimmed back).
I’m surprised to read the few reviews complaining that they didn’t return calls in a timely manner. That hasn’t happened to us, they have always gotten back to us in a timely way. David, the owner, is very professional and easy to deal with. Francisco, one of his foremen who came out to do the estimate, is also a very pleasant guy to work with. He had done most of the pruning of the trees the last time we hired them. David emailed us the estimate shortly after Francisco had taken a look at our trees. Pauline in the office was also helpful to us.
I was also surprised to see the review from one client about the sawdust that was left behind around his house. Today, they took down a large palm tree for us and there are only minimal traces of sawdust just around the stump on the gravel. Our neighbors’ and our driveways are spotless. They cleaned up the two adjacent yards, too, were palm frowns had fallen into. Thanks for a great job, again!

These guys are a piece of work. They get hired and then let all the sawdust from the chippers go everywhere and don’t give a shit about cleaning up after themselves. Now that my house is covered in sawdust and they don’t want to clean it, I am going to hire a company to come clean my place then I am going to sew this company. Way to be ethical… NOT

Hired Crown Point Clippers to shape and lace a 40 ft Ash tree that has not been trimmed in the 15 years we have owned this house.
It is now a rental property for us, so more cumbersome to arrange any type of work to be done, but David’s team made everything easy. Worked well with our renters dog from the day of the estimate to the actual day of work.
The tree hangs over 3 other neighboring properties, but they took care to remove all debris.
We also used them last year for our home. Trimmed multiple palms, a huge yucca, large mimosa, fruit trees and lots of overgrown bushes. It was a big job, but by the time they left, if it wasn’t for the perfectly manicured trees, you would never know a large crew had been there.
The pricing is reasonable and the crew is professional.
Highly recommend.
Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this company. No call, no show.

Staff: Professional, Friendly, Courteous. When I called to request a quote they sent out someone to view and assess the project. They were on time, friendly, and said that a follow up email quotation would be provided.
Pricing: They were competitive. I found a cheaper company but that company never followed through and I just don’t have time to deal with flakey people. So I called Crown Point and set up a time to get the job done.
The Job: Three guys came early in the morning and worked away. They moved our pool furniture around, BBQ, as to not get it damaged. There was a guy in each tree, and there was a lot of work to cover. By the time I came back home to see the finished product I was very happy.
Challenge: We had a slight problem that needed to be resolved a couple of weeks later. I emailed the company and I received two emails from staff and owner immediately. They worked with us to make sure that everything was good and that we were happy.
Conclusion: Job well done. When we ran into trouble they took accountability and committed to resolving it. I was very impressed with how our business was handled. The Unilocal ratings are 100% deserved. Good job Crown Point Clippers!

Bottom line up front: Crown Point Clippers… HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I called several companies to get quotes on having two palm trees trimmed. One came and quoted several hundreds of dollars. Another never came at all even after talking with the owner directly. CPC on the other hand sent someone by the house, drafted a professional written quote and emailed it to me, then followed up with a phone call. I scheduled an appointment for a couple weeks later.
My appointment was for this morning. Leo and his crew showed up right on time! After speaking with him to give a few directions they got right to work. The team of three worked quickly and safely. Within an hour, both palm trees were trimmed and the mess all cleaned up. In fact, except for all the brown palm leaves being gone and my trees looking great, you wouldn’t even know they’d been here.
I am thoroughly impressed, and that just doesn’t happen very often. This is a very professional company and they have earned my trust and future business! It is evident to me that they deserve the great reviews here. If you have palm trees, you need to have Crown Point Clippers on your payroll!

We have been looking for a good tree service company to come out and give us a bid on pruning & cleaning up our large canary island palm in additon to cutting 2 tree stumps down to grade. Based on reviews here on Unilocal I tried to contact these people to come out. No answer. I emailed my request for an estimate from their website. 2 days later I still am waiting to hear from them!
So this morning I called their # and spoke with a person who promised to pass on my information & request to the office & someone would call me back. Again, hours later, I’m still waiting. Their website states they service the coastal communities. We live in El Cajon, but the lady on the phone thought they still worked our area.
Regardless whether or not you «service» the East county, you could at least email or call and advice a potential client yes or no — not totally ignore them!
I have since found another company and we’ll be going with them. In today’s economy you’d think any and all business would be good for your company!
