History

Established in 1999.

Ken Wilson, founder of San Diego DJ has received numerous awards including two time winner of the coveted Entertainer of the Year ‘Favorite DJ’ award for all of San Diego and Honorable Mentions for ‘Best Sound’.

He is a Staff Writer for San Diego Scene Magazine, quoted in the Wall Street Journal’s weddings feature, written feature articles for the Californian wedding guide, and has been involved in the Entertainment Industry for over 20 years. With appearances on the stage and more recently in the film noir movie ‘This Last Lonely Place’ produced by the Humphrey Bogart Estate, and appearances on TV including Veronica Mars and Terriers.

San Diego DJ is a member in good standing with the American Disc Jockey Association, the Wedding & Event Videographer’s Association, and sponsors many non-​profit events such as the San Diego Blood Bank 5k Run, American Cancer Society ‘Relay For Life’, and the Armed Services YMCA ‘Christmas You Missed’ for our troops.

Holy cow where to start? First I’ll start with the good: price was reasonable. Delivery was on time. Mechanically machine worked well.
Now the bad: UNPROFESSIONAL! my biggest gripe is that delivery person was grouchy, disheveled, unorganized and seemed a little… off. He slowly set up system, but had an argumentative tone to his voice the whole time he tried to instruct me on how to use it. He asked if he would be picking it up that night or getting it the next day — I preferred him to pick it up that night but it was going be very late and there was a $ 50 charge. having worked with musicians and musical equipment all of my life I figured it wouldn’t be that difficult. By 2 o’clock in the morning as I packed everything away I was uncertain which boxes each chord went into so carefully I wrapped the cords and put them inThe box that seemed logical. When the delivery guy came the next day to pick up he was incredibly grouchy could barely walk seemed as if he was in physical and maybe mental pain. He slowly loaded his car full of equipment — as he looked through one of the boxes with all the cords he started throwing things to the ground angrily telling me that I put things away wrong?! Who does that? Who does that and expects to get business from me again? I don’t recommend this company. Also ***their song list was way way way outdated by 2 to 3 years.

We have hired Ken for our small corporate Christmas parties multiple times, but this is the first year I got to work with him personally. From the beginning he was very profession but also very personable! He has a great mix of music to suit all tastes and ages and he engages the crowd with fun games and karaōke. He kept our party going strong until the end! We would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a fun, upbeat DJ for their event.
