Established in 2008.

Photon Solar Power, led by its founder Mr. Pekka Laine, is a family-​owned business based in Escondido, California. Mr. Laine comes with a background of 15+ years in the «green» construction industry. Being a CA licensed General Contractor, C-​46 Solar Contractor and NABCEP certified professional PV installer, his team at Photon Solar Power has all the expertise you would expect from a San Diego solar contractor. Photon Solar Power is capable of managing a multi-​trade solar construction project that involves roofing, electrical, earth moving and general carpentry skills.

Although we didn’t end up Photon Solar, I can’t say enough about how helpful Jouni was throughout the process. In the end, it simply came down to the fact that the price of the company that we used also included our roofing. Jouni even took the news well and congratulated us on getting our solar started. A true professional from start to finish and I would still highly recommend their services!

We did a lot of research and talked to a lot of people before we found Pekka. His team built my solar system at a great price, on time and with zero change orders. Out of all the contractors we have worked with over the years, Photon Solar is among the best. Plus the system works better than expected! Our electric bill went from about $ 420/​month to ZERO… ok fine we pay the $ 5/​month distribution fees! ;)

We have worked with Pekka Laine at Photon Solar for one year on a very difficult project. The project itself was technically difficult made even more so by issues with out-​of-​date easement restrictions that took quite some time to resolve, a problem on our end, not Photon’s.
Pekka continued to patiently assist with resolution throughout the discovery process leading to completion of the mapping issues, so that we could initiate the project.
Additionally, we had a challenging ground-​mount that required extensive work to develop the concrete footings in a hillside that was laced with granite before they were able to install the panels and wiring. The project hit more granite than expected; Pekka brought in a soil engineer who redesigned the footings and kept the job on budget.
Finally, our 40 self-​monitoring panels, 2 invertors, underground wiring, and multiple adjustments were completed along with multiple inspections before we were able to power up the system.
Throughout the entire process, Pekka and his crew were unfailingly professional, courteous, informative and maintained regular work hours, which was an asset to our personal situation with a property that has a difficult access.
Pekka met with us many times over the process and afterwards to insure that all questions were answered; he was extremely knowledgeable about all facets of the process including permitting, rebates, as well as equipment and engineering aspects.
We spent a fair amount of time getting bids and learning about the different companies and systems before choosing Photon Solar. We are quite pleased with the attention to detail and ability to be flexible with this process that Pekka showed throughout the challenging process of our installation.
We wholeheartedly recommend Photon Solar for their professionalism, expertise and follow-​through as we look forward to referring them to friends and family for future projects

Pekka was referred to us by friends and coworkers and that was an important part of our decision. He was very thorough at explaining the different solar options available to us, how the system he recommended worked, what we could expect as far as power generation, installation time, and of course, the cost. He helped us to understand the different state and federal rebates that were being offered at the time. Another key was the 1-​year interest free financing he offered on the purchase. That allowed us to get our panels a year earlier, while reaping the benefits of the sun during that year. We decided to go with 100% coverage of our electric usage, which has proven itself (and a little more) in our first full year of having the panels. The install was done last summer (on schedule) and we’ve been extremely pleased with the performance of the system, as well as working with Photon, during the past year. Pekka is very timely when answering questions, returning phone calls and emails promptly, even coming by the house if needed. He also set up our online monitoring webpage so we can see how the system is performing (from home or mobile). It’s actually really cool to see! There are a lot of people selling solar panels these days. Spend some time talking to them and you’ll see that they are not all the same. Some can’t even answer your basic questions. You won’t find that with Photon. Pekka knows what he’s doing and selling, works with you from start to finish, and is there for you going forward. Pekka installed our solar panels this summer. He took a lot of time explaining what he was doing and why he was doing it. Delivery was on time and installation was quick. His crew cleaned up after every day. His quote will not be the cheapest yet not the most expensive either. But the equipment is working well and we loved the individual attention a small company can give. He helped us to get online monitoring setup and also checks our output. Everytime we have a question, he answers quickly via email and will drive by to check out the system if necessary. The one reason that he is also getting 5 stars is because we contacted him about one panel not outputting as much as expected. Within a couple of weeks, he totally replaced the panel and it’s working like a charm.
