At 48 years of age and not allowed to enter this so called British themed pub just because I had no ID. How sad! You should be ashamed management. And yes I will tell EVERYONE I know what a shit protocol you have. I will post this response on all media I can.

The Aranchini Balls arrived. They were all a good even size sitting in a light sweet chilli aioli. I could immediately gauge the sticky texture as I expected. I really enjoyed the aranchini balls, the 3 cheeses made it sticky as it was mixed with risotto and speckles of spinach. The aioli added moisture to the dish and the sundried tomatoes added another flavour and texture. I really enjoyed it so I had most of a second one also. The Reef and Beef Sirloin Steak was presented as pretty as possible. He said that all of the fish was perfectly cooked and he was very happy with it. Steak can often be a tricky thing to cook but the chef did a great job as it was perfectly medium as requested. The creamy garlic sauce was plentiful and the asparagus was a nice addition but the size of a garnish. The Chicken Gorgonzola was a huge portion! The penne pasta was plentiful and the sauce was delicious. I often find a cream sauce to be quite thick but I liked this one a lot! There was a generous amount of chicken and mushrooms in the dish also which definitely infused into the sauce. The dish was topped with large flakes of fresh parmesan, no true pasta dish is complete without some sort of cheese. As much as I wanted to finish it, I just couldn’t but believe me, I tried! If you are hungry, this is the dish for you.

Great friendly service and really good quality food this visit. When busy they can become a little careless with presentation and communication but was a great experience this time

My last review was not good here for the reason that our meals were not good! This time they were ok, except that they wanted to charge my husband 50c for tomato sauce with his $ 23.90 parmigiana

Worst service experienced in 20 years! My mum and I thought how about a lovely Saturday lunch. We waited a moment to be seated and ordered a drink, receiving it quickly. Then after 20 minutes waiting with our menus placed to the top of the table to indicate we were ready to order and in clear view of the floor manager and two waitstaff who happily chatted away, I went to the counter and politely asked to make an order where they stated it was table service and they would come to us. Great, no problem. They took our order, didn’t inform how long it would take but I assumed quite some time as there were several tables occupied. Time passed, we finished our drinks, no service whatsoever. After fifty minutes and four other tables who arrived after us served their main meals, I caught a waitresses attention and politely asked the wait time for our meal. She went to check and returned about five minutes later and stated it wouldn’t be long probably another 15 minutes or so and that there was a forty minute wait from ordering. I then indicated we had waited over 45 minutes and noticed other tables after us had been served. The waitress questioned if we still wanted the meal clearly giving the impression the meals hadn’t been started so we decided against considering we had waited and been in the restaurant area for 90 minutes without service. We then paid for our drinks and departed. Disappointing and a disgrace to hospitality. It’s amazing this place is not bankrupt with this approach! Avoid it like Ebola is my recommendation!

A modern take on an English pub. Located in Joondalup where there is a large English population there as well as in surrounding suburbs, this pub hits the nail on the head. It is a cool mix of English and Australian. The modern decored bar and eatery is always busy, even on weekdays. Their meals are affordable and well sized and presented. There is a great variety on the menu and everyone will find something to enjoy. It caters to a wide range of people. It was once my frequent watering hole when I was 18/19, now a few years on it’s a great place to catch up for a meal with friends. I have been here many times since it’s opening and it always consistent. Staff are friendly and polite. A great place to visit if in the area.

Pub meals have the ability to be truly amazing and value for money or they can be a meal that is truly forgettable, and our dinner at the Sov was the latter. The décor was a great feature and has us ogling whilst we waited to be seated at our birthday table, then the first of the coffin nails came down in the form of rude service. As there was a group of us waiting to be seated we unfortunately had blocked a part of the entrance which one of the waitstaff abruptly told us to move. After 5 minutes of socializing we were approached by another waitstaff and basically told to move on, as she wanted our tables to give their dinner orders, even though we were quite happy to chat for a while longer. After mounting pressure from the waitstaff we placed our orders and preceded to hang flex for the next hour or so until the meals arrived. During this time we had a couple of drink orders both of which took 20 – 30 mins to receive, which left us a little frustrated, the most disappointing thing to the drink wait was the fact a tray of drinks was left by a waitstaff on a table near us without so much as a whisper, only to find out it was half of our drinks order. After 10 minutes or so between meals coming out we revived our barramundi and fish of the day dishes. Sadly these meals were the final nails in the coffin. The barramundi had a lot of grey flesh and was not seasoned, the side of vegetables were reminiscent of microwaved college buffet food, then the prawns were overcooked and again the under seasoned theme came into play again. The fish of the day was masked by some thick batter that was beautifully crunchy but let down by the gargantuan under dressed salad and limp beer battered fries. Geez this review is radically negative but it is our experience on the day and was a night I wish we had back. Every element of the meal was far below average with the exception of the décor which was the only highlight, and going off previous reviews the fan club will not like this mainly negative experience. In summary we received poor service, bland and technically inferior food all in a respectable setting. Food 3.5÷10 service 2⁄10 décor 7⁄10

If the Old Bailey in Joondalup is the parents, the Sovereign Arms is the twenty something year who is looking for some fun. This english style pub is everything that the Old Bailey is not. Modern, stylish and sophisticated! On the weekends it is packed, day and night. The ladies here are fine and friendly, the men laidback and cool. There is a large outdoor seated area where you can sit back, watch the talent and enjoy a cold beer on a summers evening. The food is high quality english and modern australian fare. The mixed platter is a favourite to share amongst friends, with a variety of breads, salmon, prawns, olives, cheese, sausage, dip and more.

On a weekday or night, this place is actually pretty nice. It looks like a slightly modern British Pub and the food is a mix of modern Australian and some British pub food. I personally love the mix platter, $ 26 which may seem a little steep but it comes with an amazing mix of feta, Italian sausage, breads a a whole lot more delicious goods. For me a beer and a mix platter goes down so well. In a pretty good location right next to the cinema and Lakeside shopping centre, it is pretty good!

The Sovereign Arms is a nice surprise found between the cinema and the shopping centre in Joondalup. There are two options for seating — al fresco and indoors. Indoors is more comfortable, but noisy due to the proximity of the tables, while outdoors is more conducive to conversations. The décor inside is made of rich colours and dark wooden paneling. There is ample seating inside, and on warm days, the air-conditioning easily keeps the entire place cool. The Sovereign Arms has a good selection of beer on tap — for instance, it features Hoegaarden White as one of the choices. There is a variety of food available, from the very English Bangers and Mash to lasagne and caesar salad. The food is well-made, although the portions are very generous. The service is polite and attentive, although some food can take a while to reach your table. The Sovereign Arms is a great choice for a lazy lunch. For those whose time is constricted, it is best to look elsewhere.

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that there would ever be a cool English style pub with great food in Joondalup. We just weren’t that cool. But now, like that chunky girl who has grown into her body through high school and now has a tiny waist and amazing knockers, Joondalup is rocking it. The Sov pumps every night and even though it’s not somewhere I would choose to be after dark, I really love going there for a casual lunch. And the food is really great, so that helps. Although, the food is not consistently good if you catch it on a good day you will be pleasantly surprised. The bannofee pie is fantastic. End of story.
