Cummings Moving Company is a family owned moving and storage company located in San Francisco. We have been in business for 40 years, since 1969, developing an excellent reputation among our customers and prominent Realtors throughout the Peninsula and San Francisco.

Business Owner

Amy has been in the moving industry since 1991. She, along with her business partner, Enrique, purchased the well-​established Cummings Moving Company in 2005. The business has grown tremendously and is highly recommended as one of the top San Francisco movers.

She has experience in all aspects of a small business, especially the moving industry. She has a passion for sales and marketing. Her favorite part of the job is meeting new clients. She always enjoys learning something new. And with the moving business, there is always a new experience.

Amy is excited that Cummings Moving Company is now a part of Wheaton Worldwide Moving, which allows her to now offer her customers moving anywhere in the United States or the world.

Amy is currently serving on the Board of the California Moving and Storage Association.

I use these guys A LOT. They are my go-​to movers. I own my own company and hire them almost monthly for client projects.
We just finished a very complicated move with 5 different destinations along with temporary storage of over 10,000 items. All done without error.

We had a most difficult move – with very large and heavy furniture and about 100 heavy boxes of books and tools and junk. We had to move from an upper floor of a high-​rise to a retirement residence with difficult access but Cummings did it with aplomb, speed, and competence. The final price was less than estimated, which speaks to their honesty. Special credit goes to their supervisor, Elias, who took apart our very complex king bed at our old place and reassembled it at our new place, a most difficult job that few would be able to handle. All of the men were conscientious and hard working and agreeable. We unhesitatingly recommend Cummings.

Been a year and a half since Cummings invaded our house, but at Thanksgiving a couple of weeks ago, we made more unpleasant discoveries. This year we were settled in enough to have a herd for Thanksgiving. Husband wanted the large white French baking dish, a wedding gift, he’s used for turkey dressing for the past 40 years. Where was it? All dishes and kitchen gear have been unpacked.
When he mentioned this piece I remembered packing it in a large box with other kitchen gear from the same cupboard. Dawn broke. None of it arrived. I’d packed the stuff at 3:00 am before Cummings arrived, was running out of wide tape for the boxes, so used just enough to seal the bottom of the box and left the top open — could get more tape from the basement in the morning.
When Cummings home invaders arrived, the leader of the group said they’d seal the box. I believed them. It didn’t have one of «our» numbers on it, which didn’t matter because Cummings ignored our numbers anyway. When I went back in a few minutes to put colored identity tape on that and a couple of other large kitchen boxes, they were gone — «Already on truck» I was told.
If they were on the truck they were on somebody else’s truck. This is just one of several large, square boxes which disappeared from the kitchen. Have no doubt if I’d gone to the flea market the following Sunday, or toured garage sales in the Mission, probably would have seen that dish, and a number of other things. Possible that the boxes are lost at Cummings warehouse? How would I know? They’ve never returned a phone call. Incidentally, they were not helpful to SFPD in tracking down workers they picked off off street corner.

I have been a customer of Cumming’s Moving for years. They’ve helped me with several moves. I’ve also used their storage services for long-​term storage while in between homes. There are many moving companies in the Bay Area, but I wouldn’t even shop around because I know I will be treated well, my property will be treated gently, and my work will be done expediently. Their movers don’t mess around when it’s time to work. They go at it like it’s their money being spent.
Another thing I like about the company is how friendly everyone is there. They treat me like I’m a special customer every single time I call or work with them in person. I highly recommend this company for your moving needs.

Update: it’s been 4 days since the move. I added a star ONLY because the crew were able to wrap up the job quickly at the destination — granted they were 25 minutes over the 3 hour minimum. which conveniently is the exact amount of time it took them to «go to their office». apparently they didn’t have carpet plastic wrap and had to go get some (it ended up not sticking anyway as the landlady had (kinda unfortunately) cleaned the carpets the day before my move?!) I was mistaken in my 1st review regarding the use of shoe booties stated in the contract — with 3 other deliveries that day, I got my contracts mixed up. lol I do not have any issues with that aspect anyway. the men were polite. My brother and I were even there to help them along at the end as I was very mindful of keeping within the 3 hour time frame. The only issue was when the lead man tried charging me for the extra 25 extra minutes they detoured to their office (my brother was at origin point, he left 5 minutes after the moving truck and I was standing outside the new apartment complex when my brother arrived [it took him 9 minutes to get from origin to destination] and we both waited about 20 minutes before the moving truck showed up. At that time, we were not aware of the office detour — it got a little nerve wracking as we had abosutely no contact number or information for the movers and the office is closed after 10 a.m. on Saturdays. All in all, the move worked out for the positive — however I am not sure if I would book them again.

We had a wonderful experience with Cummings moving co. We moved out of our 1 bedroom apt in San Bruno to a 2 bedroom townhouse in Hayward. The guys arrived early in the morning right on schedule and began loading up our stuff. They were so organized and wrapped all of our furniture in blankets and saran wrap. I was so impressed how efficient they were. Unfortunately for the movers we chose the hottest day ever to move and they didn’t complain not once. In fact they had smiles on there faces the whole time! I will definitely hire them again next time we move!

Cummings far exceeded my expectations. The estimate was right on and there were no surprises at the end. The movers were polite, professional and worked very efficiently. There was a problem getting a box spring mattress up my stairs at my new place, but they immediately figured out another way… from the balcony. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them.

It was a really simple move, but Cummings took the time to handle it properly.
I was referred to Cummings by All Reasons after I found out that All Reasons didn’t service my area. All Reasons came very highly recommended, so I figured that Cummings would be on the same level.
I contacted Cummings on their website and was contacted by Kate via email where we sorted out a moving date and cost. My final email from Kate was a confirmation email with dates and locations along with several pdfs for packing guidelines and whatnot. Awesome.
The day of, I had most of my stuff packed and ready to go anticipating that I would mostly just need help with furniture. The two guys came (whose names I’m totally blanking on at the moment), ready to go, with all the proper paperwork. I even glanced on the paperwork I could see and saw that it had notes from my correspondence with Kate to make sure everything was followed.
They moved all our furniture and the boxes I had packed quickly and as efficiently as they could considering that there was one designated elevator for moving and it was a busy day.
When they got to the new place, they unloaded everything, making sure that large items were moved to the rooms they needed to go.
And that was it.
If anything, the amount of stuff that I realized I hadn’t packed in time and left to move ourselves told me I should just hire Cummings to do the packing as well as the moving.
Great company, I’d be happy to use them again.

Moving sucks! I thought we were organized, I thought we had given away enough… we hadn’t. The guys at Cummings came, they saw, and they kicked ass! They were extremely nice, hard working and humble guys. I can not just give them a 5 star review, they deserve 10! They took two very stressful days and left us with a beautiful new home with furniture arranged just as I liked. I would hire them again in a minute (but since I am never moving again, I won’t need to!!!). If you are moving, donate most of your stuff, then call Cummings to move the rest!

This is the second time I have used Cummings Moving Company. Once three years ago and the second time was two days ago.
Miguel, Caesar and Fernando were the BEST!!! On time, kind, respectful to my stuff, friendly, and beyond professional.
The guys had 3 flights of stairs at my new place and they made it look easy.
All of my stuff was in perfect condition. Miguel, went beyond the call of duty and fixed my coffee table, all on his own, as it was wobbly. It needed the screws tighten. I thought I was going to have to buy a new table.
Great company and very better staff!

We just completed our third move in as many years – all with Cummings – first out of our long time family home, into a temporary home, then into storage and finally into what we hope will be our permanent home. Everyone with Cummings was helpful and accommodating. They did what they said they would do, arrived on time, and moved everything quickly and efficiently – with no breakage! Our household goods that were in storage for almost 2 years returned to us clean and ready to use as if they had never been away! (we did wash everything, but it almost seemed unnecessary) Everyone was cheerful and kept moving day from being stressful. I would us them again — tho’ I hope we don’t need to move anymore!!!

This was one of the best moving experiences of my life (of which there have been many). I was extremely pleased with the professionalism and speed of my crew. The manager at my old apartment failed to get the building ready for my move, but the crew was friendly and happy to help me work around the issues. They also completed the job in 4 hours when they could have easily stretched it into 5 – 6. I’ll recommend Cummings to anyone.

These guys are fabulous! They were incredibly careful with everything — blanket– and plastic-​wrapping our grandfather clock, baby grand piano, antique cabinets… And they even got my massive computer armoire down the stairs without an issue. We highly recommend them and will use them again if we ever have to move again (heaven forbid)!

Let’s face it — moving sucks. The only thing that sucks more is helping other people move. And over the years. I’ve helped a number of friends move in and out of their homes. Never again, btw. I’d much rather get a root canal.
So alas, it came time for me to move from SF to Marin. I vowed to hire some professionals to assist me with my transition. And although it wasn’t cheap, it was the right decision.
Cummings Moving Company came recommended to me by a co-​worker. She said they weren’t the cheapest moving company in town, but they were honest, fast, and efficient. And if you’ve ever dealt with a moving company before, there are plenty of shysters out there.
I have nothing but praise for Cummings Moving Co. They quoted me $ 110 for the hour (that included 2 guys to do the packing/​moving). If I wanted three guys (which would’ve been unnecessary, it would’ve been $ 150/​hr).
Here’s why these guys rock:
— They arrived on time.
— They were friendly and handled my furniture/​belongings with care.
— They were fast. They got all my apartment stuff in to their truck within two hours.
— It only took them a few hours to unload my belongings in to my new home.
The whole move cost me about $ 600. I threw in a $ 100 tip and a 6-​pack of beer (these guys earned it). FYI, they’ll give you a 5% discount if you pay in cash.
* Be warned though, they do add some extras to the bill (including a transportation fee + bubble wrap fee). But it was nothing too shocking or unreasonable.
In summary, Cummings Moving Co. arrived at my old apartment at 9am and had me comfortably settled in my new abode by 1:30pm. The whole move set me back 700 bones, but it was totally worth it. If you or someone you know is looking to move, I would highly recommend this company.
