We decided to replace the 25 year-​old heating, cooling and duct system in our 36 year-​old home. We knew it would be a large and expensive undertaking, so we first took the time to educate ourselves before starting the process. For the next 3 months, we interviewed 9 separate contractors for the job (which was an educational experience on its own).
In the end, Alpine Heating & Air came out on top for the following reasons: Honesty, integrity and a their no-​nonsense, no hard-​sell approach to the job at hand.
We found owner, Scott Barry, to be unwavering in his commitment to excellence and the quality of his proposal. His installation team, James Whittemore and Josh McVey, were two of the hardest working and finest craftsman we’ve seen in a long time and it was a pleasure to have them in our home.
If you are looking for a small local contractor for the repair, replacement or new installation of a heating and air system, you simply cannot do better than Alpine Heating & Air. I can assure you that their work will be of the highest quality and you’ll not be pressured to purchase more than you need (which, unfortunately, is a common practice in the HVAC industry).

Around 3pm on Thanksgiving eve, my house was unusually cold, and by 4pm, I realized my furnace ‘went out’, and I attempted to troubleshoot it myself (with minimal success).
I Unilocaled «HVAC», and my second call was to Alpine HAC. Seeing it was Thanksgiving eve, I was appreciative (and somewhat surprised) that they would ‘answer’, and Heather (the office manager) was extremely nice over the phone. Understandably, all the service technicians were unavailable, but she said she would have Scott (the owner) give me a call asap.
15 minutes later, Scott called me! He was friendly, professional, courteous, etc. over the phone, gave me some ‘Internet leads’, and offered to come out the day after Thanksgiving for the service call; NICE!
Due to my schedule, Scott came out the next next week, troubleshot my situation, and gave me four options: 1) leave it broken and use my wood stove for heating, 2) source the part via the Internet and fix it myself, 3) have Alpine order the part and repair it, and 4) get a brand new furnace. I went with option #3.
A few days later Heather called me to let me know the part had arrived and to schedule an appointment, and Scott called me that morning to let me know his eta. Such SIMPLE communication is so easy, nice and truly appreciated!
When Scott arrived, he again was friendly, professional and courteous (and better looking than usual — LOL!), he installed the new inducer motor, and while we were in the attic gave me ‘an overview explanation of the internal furnace operation’.
Now my furnace is working like a champ again!
In summary, my experience with Alpine HAC, was pleasant, professional, courteous, helpful, efficient, expedient, etc., and I don’t feel like ‘I was $ taken to the cleaners’. Thank you Scott, and Heather… If needed, I would call Alpine HAC again, and I would certainly recommend them to my family, friends and neighbors.

Wow, I am impressed. I had two heater malfunctions with rental properties. After wasting a week with 2 companies I had used previously (Alton and Gosal — no response from either) I found Alpine. They jumped right on the issues the next day, got the tenants warm again. Pricing was fair and reasonable. The diagnosis was also 100% honest. One heater was a loose wire and was instantly fixed. Very honest, high integrity company. I have found a new go to company in East Bay for all HVAC needs.

Of course, my AC would fail on the hottest day of the year! I called Alpine and they were able to squeeze me in at the end of the day. James diagnosed the issue to wiring and made the repairs. No parts needed. (yay). The charge was very reasonable. James was pleasure to work with. Alpine will be my first call for future HVAC issues.
PS: I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that Heather was also a pleasure to speak to on the phone. Very professional and personable.

I called Alpine because the company who installed my HVAC unit in my 2.5 year old house could not come look at it for over a week. We have been in a severe heat wave and my air conditioner was not working. Alpine was able to come the next day. That day it wound up working for them but they said if I had the issue again I should call them. Well it happened again in a week and I called them. They came out very quickly and said the printed circuit board (PCB) needed to be replaced. They worked with the manufacturer to get the part delivered quickly and came out and installed it very quickly (under the parts warranty).
Steve, the owner is very professional and responsive. James, the technician who installed the PCB, was also excellent and even went so far as to tweak a couple settings that the original installer (the builder) had set up that kept the unit from working as well as it should. I cannot say enough about Alpine; their work was outstanding.

If you have an emergency these are the people to call. My AC went out with 100 degree temps outside and I called Alpine. Even though they were booked solid they some how fit me in. James was easy to work with came out diagnosed the problem fixed it quickly and was very reasonably priced. I highly recommend them as I will be a customer for life. Dale Wolfe

Alpine is a great company with fair prices. Got a bid from another company in Rancho Cordova that was 800.00 more. So glad we had Alpine come for second opinion. Scott was so professional in all that he does. If a repair seems extremely expensive call Alpine and you will see what I mean. Better yet… start with Alpine and you won’t need a second opinion. I confidently recommend Alpine Heating & Air. After several home-​warranty repairs to our 30 year old system in the Arden-​Arcade area, we turned to Scott following a referral. He got a part in a day that the other guys claimed was weeks out (during the coldest New Year’s week in two decades) but found other existing issues. It was beyond time to replace, so we got three bids. Scott’s was the most comprehensive and reasonable, and his follow up assured us of his continued interest in the job.
We awarded Alpine the job and they mobilized in two days; James and team were a complete pleasure to work with. They were responsive, respected our home and left a completely clean job site daily, worked around our dogs (a challenge…), and completed the project efficiently and on-​budget. Their bid was thorough, the quality of work is high with good attention to detail. Their close out package including permits and utility rebate application showed their strong organizational skills and commitment to follow-​through. Scott and James were both friendly and professional, and we couldn’t be happier with the product and service Alpine provided. I would strongly recommend them to anyone looking to service or replace their AC equipment.

If i could give them 10 STARS I would! We were dealing with another heating company and just felt we were getting ripped off, we called Alpine and spoke with James about our heating problem and he went out of his way to come over after he had already gotten off work for the day because he didn’t want us to be without heat!!!
I am a customer for life now and would recommend them without hesitation! It turned out we were getting ripped off by the other place!

In September of 2014, we decided it was time to buy a new HVAC for our home. We had a couple of companies come out and give us estimates, but couldn’t even touch what Alpine quoted us. Scott is so friendly, personable and professional, too.
When our unit was installed, it was done with minimal disruption to our home. James and Scott did a wonderful job. We couldn’t be happier with the product and service Alpine provided.

Found that our furnace needed to be replaced and the overall HVAC design in our house was very inefficient. Got quotes from several companies to replace the furnace & A/​C. Scott looked at our system and presented several good alternatives, including docs on the systems being proposed. I thought his prices were good and the brand he proposed, Bryant was high quality. He and James installed the system we chose, and James was particularly great in explaining everything he was doing, going out of his way to make sure things were done right. Could not be happier with the work they did.
A footnote — I felt that the State energy rebates available were good but were negated by the additional inspections required to qualify for the rebates, so I didn’t choose a company that used the rebate program.

Scott and his team installed a heating and AC unit in our home in Arden-​Arcade in 2011. He quoted us a great price on the complete installation, so we skipped the larger companies. He was professional and easy to work with, the workmanship looks great, we couldn’t be happier with the results.
3 years later the unit is still trouble free.
