Known by couples as either a wedding officiant, a wedding minister, or a Reverend, I am your best option if you are looking for a reliable professional to help make your wedding day the perfect day you have dreamed of your whole life.

I offer my 30 years of experience unconditionally. I am happy to work with all couples in any venue in the Bay Area.

I have officiated more than 500 weddings, and have organized and planned countless rehearsals.

I offer my couples priceless advice on ensuring that their wedding day is perfect.

From San Francisco, to Napa, Menlo Park, Saratoga, all the way to Monterey and beyond, I am happy to preside over your event.

I’m always early to my events, I’m always prepared, and am on the approved vendor lists at dozens of locations throughout the greater Bay Area.

I can be as serious or as lighthearted at the situation calls for. I’m flexible, affordable, and very good at what I do.

Please do not leave such an important task to a friend or family member who offers to help. Have your friends and family be guests at your wedding, not employees.

History

Established in 1982.

I started doing weddings after being ordained at The Holy Trinity Church. Initially I just performed for friends and family. Not long after I started, guests at the weddings I officiated starting asking me if I could please do their weddings.

I soon discovered what joy it brought me to be a part of someones love story each weekend. Every weekend I get to share with others the joy they feel on one of the most magical days loving couples can experience.

I am reminded at each of my weddings of the importance of being a better husband to my own wife, a better father to my own daughter and son, and a better person to the people I encounter on a daily basis.

It really is an honor and a privilege to participate as the officiant for people in love.

I will continue to officiate at weddings for as long as it fills my heart with joy. That should be until my last days here on Earth.

I am married with two children. I have a wonderful daughter, and terrific son, and a lovely wife.

I have a «day job «in the manufacturing business. I travel to Asia quite a bit during the winter when weddings are rare and it is not horribly hot in Asia.

I was born in Berkeley and raised in the East Bay most of my life. When I married my wife we moved to Menlo Park.

We then moved to the Santa Cruz area in 1990 and live here still. We love the coast and cannot imagine living anywhere else.

— Email turnaround time was amazing. He responded to my initial message within 1 hour and all subsequent messages followed in the same timely fashion.
— Although he was already booked on our wedding day, he was extremely helpful in providing us with recommendations for colleagues and provided great feedback for some questions I had.
— Even after it was clear that we couldn’t hire him due to the date conflict, Rev. Rich continued our email exchange and made a genuine effort to help us out and make sure we were taken care of. Truly above and beyond.

Rev. Rich is a perfect officiant for your wedding! Not only was he incredibly easy (and fun!) to work with, but he had an incredible ease and sense of humor the day of that set both my husband’s and my nerve’s at ease. We worked with him on the elements of the ceremony that were important to us and gave us a very special and intimate ceremony. All of our guests commented on how wonderful he was, and that the ceremony was really special and gave them a sense of who we are as a couple. Rev Rich helped us navigate our two different religions to be inclusive of each family’s beliefs while keeping the ceremony focused on our union rather than religion. My husband and I were both so happy with Rev. Rich and would do it all over again with him if we could!

This review is solely based on the customer service aspect for Reverend Rich. Truly, he’s as good as it gets, folks!
I am unable to afford this wonderful man as my officiant, you see, and it became clear after he gave me a quote for his service. He was more than accommodating and went above and beyond any of my expectations. It would be an honor for any person to get such an interaction with this man, i speak directly from my heart because Reverend Rich was as honest and caring as they come. We had a long discussion about options as well as his personal recommendation, he felt like a good friend whom i had been familiar with for a very long time. He’s one you can feel at ease with, naturally, and i hope that if you or a dear friend are on the market for an outstanding officiant, you’ll look no further than this gentleman. He’s quick to respond if you have any questions or concerns (which i appreciate more than you could understand lol).
I feel like 5 stars doesn’t do justice to this man. He is personable, kind, humble and truly the best person you could ever hope for to officiate your special day!

Rev Rich is amazing. We hired him for our San Francisco wedding and we couldn’t have been happier. From the initial phone conversation, we knew Rev Rich got us as a couple and knew what we were going for for our ceremony. He worked with us to create customized vows (several drafts mind you) and gave us much needed advice through the process. He ran our rehearsal flawlessly and the wedding could not have gone more perfectly. So professional, so flexible and just really made our day perfect. Thank you Rev Rich!!!

Our original officiant cancelled about a month before or wedding, so I was scrambling to find a replacement. We decided to Unilocal and stumbled on Reverend Rich’s page, so after a quick phone chat we decided to do a consultation over the phone. Reverend Rich was very easy to talk to and made us feel extremely comfortable. After the consultation over the phone, the decision was made and we were excited to move forward with Reverend Rich as our officiant. He was very responsive via email and even allowed us to make changes up to the day before the wedding. I thought it might be weird not meeting our officiant until the day before the wedding, but it ended up working out perfectly! We couldn’t be happier with how our ceremony went, and all of our guests loved it as well! A huge thank you to Reverend Rich for making our wedding day so special.

My husband and I just got married on August 30, 2014. Since we were having a destination wedding in Capitola, CA, I started searching for officiants in the Santa Cruz County area in early 2013 and came across Reverend Rich’s website. It is a good thing I did! The chemistry was great during our first visit at an outside café… both of us instantly liked him. He was great throughout the entire process! When there were a few last minute changes, he was able to accommodate us with no problems.
When the day came, he was on time, prepared and was his wonderful gregarious self. The ceremony was wonderful and it was as though Rich was a lifelong friend of the family. Many of the guests asked…“who is the reverend?”…“Is he a friend of yours?”…“he was fantastic.” And they were right. Reverend Rich is fantastic and we enthusiastically endorse him!

My husband and I were unsure of what we wanted to do about the officiant for our wedding when we were put in touch with Reverend Rich. We were living in New York and planning a wedding in California, so we were not able to meet Rich in person until a couple days before the wedding, but with one phone call we went from unsure about even having a real officiant to knowing that Rich was the man for us.
So why hire Rich? He is extremely organized, responsive, and amazing at what he does. We emailed vow ideas back and forth many times (he is very quick to respond to email and reminds you when you need to do things) and when we said we wanted to add more personal touches to the ceremony he had some great ideas and talked us through how to go about them. We ended up reading our own personal stories (secret from each other until the ceremony) combined with the vows he read and the ceremony was AMAZING. We wanted something non-​denominational and low key and he delivered it perfectly. He reads the atmosphere so well and said things that made the audience laugh (for instance when the groom was crying) but was serious when he needed to be too. He really knows how to deliver a ceremony that hits all the marks for you and your guests. After the ceremony so many of our guests came and told us how wonderful and perfect a ceremony it had been and how it had made so many of them cry.
Reverend Rich took our ceremony from something we had really not thought about to something really amazing. He was so easy to work with and had everything so under control that he added zero stress to the wedding process. We would recommend him to anyone in an instant.

Rev. Rich was a total delight – thorough, keeps his promises, is on time (actually earlier), and keeps things on track. He may. remind (those that know of him) a bit of Burl Ives… a little bit of county and a lot of soul. We all loved the site he selected in the redwoods, and the ceremony was exactly what we wanted. He has a deep, but soft resonating voice that portrayed our vows perfectly. He was better than advertised. Thank you Rev. Rich.

Rich got the job done. He was always on time, always easily reachable by email, and wrote a great ceremony script that we were able to edit to our liking. We got many compliments from our guests that our officiant was amazing. The ceremony was a good length, and he was very organized. My husband and I felt very prepared for what would happen, which eased our nerves. (We didn’t do a rehearsal with Rich, so we met him for the first time on our wedding day.)
We would have preferred to have a minister who could take us through premarital counseling and give us a more personal ceremony, but since my husband and I just moved to the area, that wasn’t really an option for us. We just wanted to find someone who would conduct the ceremony the way we wanted it (non-​denominational Christian). We had several people at the ceremony who are strong Christians, and we had many people who have no religious convictions, so we wanted to represent our Christian faith without making anyone upset. Rich was great for that.

We used Rev Rich for our wedding a few months ago and I would highly recommend him. To start with, he is very organized and professional, which are very important first impressions for a key person at your wedding. He spent time before the wedding to get to know us a little, explained the process, and with his considerable experience was able to suggest the right type of vows for our wedding (which of course my wife and I customized). He showed up an appropriate amount of time before the ceremony, and his speaking ability and personality helped make our wedding ceremony very memorable.

Rev. Rich was the best officiant we could have asked for! From the get go, he worked closely with us to ensure we were comfortable with all aspects of the ceremony and left no stone unturned. As the bride, I had no stress whatsoever knowing Rev. Rich was in charge. He made sure the wedding party and family knew their roles the day of, he took care of the marriage license logistics, and the ceremony itself was perfect — exactly what my husband and I wanted.
I’d recommend Rev. Rich 100%! Very on top of details, very quick to respond to any emails, happy to answer any questions. He was by far the easiest vendor I worked with during the wedding process. Like I told him, I wished all of our vendors had a little more Rev. Rich in them!

Reverend Rich is an outstanding wedding officiant. Talk about someone who is on his A-​game… from the day we met over one year ago, he has always been on top of the details and really seemed to understand who we are as a couple. Many, many guests at our wedding commented on how terrific he was… he truly had a command of the ceremony but at the same time came across light-​hearted and personal.
In working with Reverend Rich, we quickly appreciated that being an officiant isn’t about just showing up on the day of – it’s about making sure that every single detail is thought of, from the personalized vows to the mailing of the marriage license to ensuring the groom had a mint immediately before the bride walked down the aisle. Reverend Rich did all of this and more. We never once worried about this portion of our wedding because we knew it was in great hands.

Rev. Rich was the officiant at our wedding last June. I can not stop thinking about what a wonderful day that day was, and although he’s around such a short time, he really made all the difference. From day one, the planning could not have been more convenient. Everything ran like clockwork and people still talk about his wonderful humor. He adds to the ceremony but doesn’t become the spotlight or anything. It as just wonderful and I would recommend him to anyone and everyone!

We found Reverend Rich from our venue preferred vendor list. Initially we wanted another officiant, but he was booked for our date. After our first call with Rev. Rich we learned that he actually married the officiant that we initially wanted! Rev. Rich is a cool guy. He’s got a great sense of humor and he’ll only work with you if you have a great sense of humor as well. :)
He sent us a script of what depicted our relationship and was flexible with how much god we wanted. He also revised some lines to incorporate some inside jokes. On our wedding day he arrived on time and was dressed for the part. The pictures on Unilocal must be really old because we didn’t expect him to look different from what we have seen. We never met him in person, but from what we heard over the phone his voice commanded the room. We started on time (a 15 minute window) and we got 100 bucks back! Woohoo!
A lot of our guests thought the ceremony was beautiful and asked how we found our officiant. It really sounded like the script was especially written for us. There were moments of chuckles here and there during our vows. It probably took away from the moment, but anyone who knows us would understand it was just the right amount of awes and laughs.
We’re definitely happy Rev. Rich married us!

We could not ask for a better officiant and a better experience.
When we first started our search for an officiant, we initially found someone we liked, but he informed us that he was already booked the day of our wedding. However, he recommended Reverend Rich, and mentioned that Rich was the officiant that married him. My (now) wife and I figured if he’s good enough for a reverend, we should talk with him to see if he’s a good fit.
Our initial consultation with him was great, making him an easy choice. He was very flexible on the religious-​ness of our wedding; we’re christian and «spiritual», but not regular church-​goers or «religious». However, we have some family members that are pretty religious so we wanted to strike a balance between the two. Rev. Rich’s 1st draft of our vows was beautiful and reflected exactly the type of wedding vows my wife and I wanted.
Rev. Rich was on-​time for both our rehearsal and wedding, was friendly, has a great presence, and is a very interesting guy to boot! (without going into too much detail, I’ll just say he is quite the multi-​tasker and is an impressive man).
If you’re looking for an officiant, you should definitely consider Rev Rich in your search.

My fiancée and I contacted Reverend Rich a few months before our wedding. He was very professional, explained the process of how we would go about booking his time, and set up a call for the three of us to talk about ourselves, what type of ceremony we wanted, etc.
After the call, Reverend Rich was very prompt in sending us a contract and once the deposit was paid, sent some vows our way to read, review, and edit based on our desired language and how much «God» we wanted included. He gave great suggestions on how we would incorporate some very personal passages, my new stepdaughter into the ceremony, and our own personalities as well.
We did one more call after he received all of our changes to run through the additions and make sure we were all comfortable with the final vows, the timing, emphasis, etc. Obviously, Reverend Rich has done many weddings before and was able to hold our hand and make us feel comfortable.
Our wedding day went off without a hitch. Despite starting a few minutes late, Reverend Rich was on-​time, personable, and our guests enjoyed the entire experience.

We highly recommend Reverend Rich to officiate a wedding. Rev. Rich was recommended to us by another pastor we knew of who was unavailable the day of our wedding. Rev. Rich actually contacted us first through email. We set up a phone appointment and he asked us questions to get to know us. We could tell he was experienced at officiating weddings, and we felt very comfortable talking with him. My husband and I quickly decided that we wanted him to officiate our wedding, so we booked him right away.
In the months to follow, Rev. Rich emailed us vows to look over and tweak to our liking. He was always very quick to respond to emails, which was great.
He was on time and very helpful at the rehearsal. He made us feel comfortable and ready for the big day.
The wedding ceremony was amazing. He followed the exact vows that we had agreed upon through email. He helped us through the whole ceremony and made it a very special, unforgettable day for us. My wife and I used Reverend Rich’s service last year for our wedding and we could not have been more pleased!
We met with Rich a couple months before our wedding at a small café in Aptos and our first impression was that he seemed to love performing this service for people and he was very enthusiastic about it, which we loved.
Another thing we found to be great were his rates. Of the other officiants we spoke with, Rich not only seemed the most personable, but his rates were also the best. For more information on his rates, you can check out his «Rates» section on his website.
The day of our wedding went absolutely perfect! Rich has a very calming demeanor about him and this helped keep me calm and composed as well in the moments before the big «I Do!».
