Excellent service. Fast and efficient. My mother had good experiences using this service when moving around.

We’ve used them a couple times in the past for moves around the Bay Area, and have recommended them to friends (who have also had great experiences).
You can’t beat their prices, and they are a very hard-​working bunch. When we moved in and out of my 2^nd floor Nob Hill apartment in a walk-​up building near the cable car lines, they were able to navigate the tough parking situation on the street and load/​unload as quickly as possible.
Language can be a small barrier, as we don’t speak Chinese. However, even with language challenges, we were able to communicate our needs with no frustration on either side.
I highly recommend Chan’s and would use them again!

THE AUDACITY!
I called to schedule an appointment for a move since their rates are much more affordable than many other moving companies. I was quoted $ 65/​hr for 2 people TWO HOUR MINIMUM. Not bad right… Well…
1) I cannot understand
There is a big language barrier when trying to coordinate details and scheduling with the people in the phone. Be prepared to constantly repeat yourself and spell out your address over and over again. Also, I am requesting for help to load a truck and no further assistance needed. Lady on the phone kept asking for my move location. Well, that information doesn’t apply to them because my hiring service isn’t for them to drive my belongings anywhere.
2) canceling
After some heavy thoughts and re-​reading reviews about the servers demanding tip, I decided to retracted. If I had such a difficult time with organizing the schedule, imagine when they are on site. And to demand tip for the little moving they’ll be doing in 45 minutes yet paying them 2 hrs minimum of work plus tip (to their liking) sounded ridiculous to me. I called to cancel and politely said «I’d like to cancel my schedule service for July 2^nd» and the guy had the audacity to bluntly say“WHY”. That is not their concern. I cancelled two days ahead, no money/​time/​service was lost and to ask «WHY» and then rudely… Rudely… Hang up on me goes to show they are unprofessional.

They are very efficient and on time. They called in advance to notify their time of arrival. They charge a reasonable price and they were very careful with my furniture. After the move they called to follow up to see if we had any concerns. Great service in general.

I used Chan’s Moving Service recently to pick up two huge barco-​lounger chairs, return them to Costco, and pick up two new chairs and deliver them to me on the same day I called! I had tried 2 other companies who were not able to do it, but fortunately Chan’s was able to do it at a very reasonable price. The movers were friendly and professional (even took off their shoes so they wouldn’t dirty my carpets). They unpacked and set up the chairs, and took away the packaging. Really couldn’t ask for better service that that all around!
I read some of the reviews about the tipping and I agree with the lady who said who said we tip food servers, why not movers? Chan’s rates are cheaper than average, so tipping would be appropriate. I offered a standard tip and had no problems.

Just used Chan’s again to move from SF to Menlo Park. Again they were great. This isn’t a full service moving company (they do not pack your boxes for you). But will do all of the heavy lifting, wrap your stuff in plastic/​blankets, pack in their truck, and unload. The two guys helping us had a bit rough English, but if you spoke slowly they would understand exactly what you wanted. It was $ 75/​hr, and we threw in a $ 100 tip for each of the movers.
Overall an excellent value given the quality of service.

Horrible. Simply stated — horrible service. In fact, it’s such horrible service that I’d rather poke my finger in my eye and swirl my brain around then call them ever again.
I had everything planned in advance — the move, the location, everything.
All they needed to do was move a studio apartment which was less than 300 square feet — and this process took them 7 hours. Yes, that’s right — 7 HOURS!!! On top of that, one of the so called «movers» was mostly MIA the entire time. I have no idea what in the hell he did the entire time. No idea.
They did not even complete the move — I ran out of time and had to separately move out the kitchen which they didn’t touch.
In addition, they bummed change from me to feed the meters, and I got so angry I became the second laborer to move items out of my apartment because of said MIA mover mentioned above.
I helped move into my new place. Then to add insult to injury they asked for a tip which I personally found in poor form, but also because a less than 300 square feet studio kicked their asses, I pushed back and paid them $ 60 — and they weren’t happy.
I’ve never ever posted a one star rated review but these clowns deserve a 0 star rating if I could give them that.

I’d suggest reviewing the lowest ratings first rather than the highest ratings first for this particular company. There are some real stories from real people that have been burned by this company. It’s interesting how some of the highest ratings come from reviewers with only one review — for this company only. Could these be fake profiles with a single glowing review meant to bump up the rating? Considering the practically criminal behavior by this company, I wouldn’t be surprised.
It actually took me two months to calm down enough to write the above paragraph. Usually, I can find some amount of objectivity in reviewing the previous reviews I’ve created to see if they’re fairly portrayed and accurate. Again, however, I’d give this company 0 stars if I could. They are that bad.

I had an appointment with Chan’s for a small move. After I left my address via text as requested, I was called twice at around 7am because somehow, my address had gone missing. My appointment was at 2pm, and I was called at 2:02 and notified that the driver would be one hour late. If that wasn’t outrageous enough, they called back to say he’d be 90 minutes late and asked me to change my appointment to the following day, which I refused to do. But, it gets better! Finally, they told me he’d be there 2 hours late, and when I said that was unacceptable, they claimed he’d be there in 10 minutes. A disorganized mess! I do not have two hours to wait for a 2-​hr move. I canceled my «appointment» stat.

We were looking for a cheaper option since moving can be quite expensive and stressful. We had Chan’s Moving Service do a move about a month ago. With less than one-​week notice, they were able to accommodate us. The quote was $ 80/​hr for 3 guys in a move from SF to Berkeley.
They were pretty punctual and had 3 workers (all spoke good enough English to communicate). They loaded from a storage facility with one extra stop at a home before the trip over to a condo in Berkeley. Unfortunately, they had to park a little further than expected. So that meant extra walking through the parking garage and they also needed to go up the the 3^rd floor as well before unloading. That being said, these guys worked hard and did a really efficient job in about 4 hours flat. The grand total was $ 320. Each worker was personally thanked and tipped about $ 60 each (I believe). I wish we could of given more, but that was all we had. I know tipping is often expected in this line of work (even though the tipping concept is a optional act of kindness). With the low overall cost they charge, there’s likely the desire for a little more compensation through the tips. I understand the perspective that they may seem greedy, but I’m sure these movers don’t make much which is why they hope for a good tip. I figure that if they do a good job — I think they deserve a good tip especially when you can save hundreds of dollars.
Overall — I think Chan’s Moving Service is a very good cost effective option to consider since they are much much cheaper than other moving companies. I encourage you to call them for a quote as you do your research for a cost comparison. If you speak Cantonese, it is very helpful with communication. They also had no issue providing a Certificate of Insurance as well which we needed for our building. I’m really glad we used them.

I called Chans Moving Company the day before we moved and talked to Mr Chan. He was very efficient and helpful. The guys showed up the next day on time and ready to work. They even jogged in between loads to cut down on time/​cost. They were all nice and professional.
So glad they were able to help and were available on such short notice. We will definitely use them for our next move!!!

my moving arrangement fell through, and I called Chan’s moving to arrange for a same day moving service. They were very accommodating, and moved us that day!
We couldn’t be happier with the move, the movers took great care of our furniture, and did the best to get our move done with 3 hours. They wrapped our furniture in plastic to prevent it from damage, provided huge wardrobe boxes to put our bags of clothes in. their truck was well equipped with padding material. All of our stuff get to the destination, and they took care not to dent any walls or doors.
Communication was great, courteous, and the movers were both very professional and nice.
We couldn’t be happier with their service.

My moving started out rocky. The building I move into request for many documents and insurance from the moving company. even required the moving company to add them to their policy. Chan’s company was really great in helping me get everything done as fast as they can (within the same day)
The move went every smoothly. (so glad they came early or else I won’t be able to get everything done) They even help dissemble and re-​assemble big furniture very quickly.

They were first recommedned to me by my professor. I used them twice in the past 2+ years.
1. If you want movers who can speak Chinese, they are a top choice.
2. They worked very hard. Although as Asian, they are not as strong as Mexicans, they have professional moving tools and tried to move as fast as they can.
Their price is fair in the SF bay area.
I will most likely use them again if I need to move in the future.
