Established in 1988.

When we founded Outrageous Rugs, our mission was to deliver premium style, selection, and service while offering the best prices in San Diego. Towards that goal, we guarantee to beat any competitor’s advertised price on manufactured rugs. Whether it’s hand-​woven or machine made, if we carry the same make, model, and color, just bring in a copy of the ad and you’ll get it for less with us!

We are active in the San Diego ASID chapter as an Industry Partner.

Outrageous Rugs supports Civic, Charitable and Religious groups throughout San Diego County and is the primary sponsor of O2 for Life rainforest foundation, in Southwest Costa Rica.

After escaping from the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917, Rose Blumkin embarked on following the American dream of becoming an entrepreneur. She eventually passed along her strong work ethic and skills in the textile industry to her grandson, Steve Blumkin, who credits his passion for his business to Rose.

Steve Blumkin (together with his partner Ross Margolin) opened the doors of his floor décor business, Outrageous Rugs, a San Diego-​based company, in 1988. Since then the company has been unpacking, rolling out rugs and placing custom, machine-​made, and fine rugs in happy customers’ homes.

We take a solutions approach working with our clients. We are here to assure that every rug we sell is sold at the lowest possible price and at the highest possible value. It is our obligation to stand behind every single rug we sell.

I have visited multiple rug stores from the old Miramar Pyramid to Persian rug stores in East Village to the furniture stores in Mission Valley. In all honesty the people (whom I worked with multiple) at Outrageous rugs were the most honest, helpful and friendly. After searching for a rug being unhappy and re-​searching I was lucky enough to stumble upon these guys. In all honesty buying a nice rug is a lot like buying a used car. You often times have to deal with pushy salesmen and try and haggle to get an honest price. Outrageous Rugs offers a relaxed environment a nice selection and over the top customer service, which is why I’m writing this review. This is the only place I will be going back to for rugs in the future.

I came here on Sunday to find a living room rug. They have a huge selection ranging from economical and very unaffordable prices. But there is a rug there for everyone. My husband and I bought 4 large runners for our kitchen and surrounding areas 14 years ago at Outrageous Rugs and were so happy. This past May we decided it was time to replace them as they were starting to wear out. But they lasted 14 years amazingly enough! I went back to Outrageous Rugs and they still had the dimensions of the previous order which was so helpful. I picked out new runners with their very helpful and professional staff and a couple of weeks later they delivered and installed them! I love working with them, and will do so again!

Juan Carlos was wonderful and informative. I needed a dining room rug that would fit under my new dining room table that will be delivered tomorrow. I have been looking at HomeGoods but the rugs shed too much. I didn’t want to order online because of color variations. I was very happy with the customer device I received. I bought a beautiful, blue, contemporary rug, and I highly recommend Outrageous Rugs.

Jorge was a big help finding the right rug at the price point we were looking for. We had to order a special size and got exactly what we wanted. Jorge was even willing to text and send pictures of rugs while we weren’t able to come in to view in person!

I’ve purchased 4 rugs from O.R. Over the past three years and each experience is better than the previous. The guys there don’t pester me while shopping and have a great big selection. Pricing seems where it should be but when your buying an item like a rug, cost is just part of the factor. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending outrageous rugs.

My husband and I spent the most productive afternoon at Outrageous Rugs today! I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted … Two large area rugs, a runner and a small area rug with specific color choices to coordinate with new upholstery and paint. With Steve’s guidance and the amazing help of his awesome staff, we were out the door with PERFECT RUGS. Significantly, the Outrageous Rug staff has been together for years and it is reflected in the way they work together as a team.

Outrageous Rugs has outrageously rude service. My Mom and I went into the store and what we encountered soon after entering the store was sniggering and joking amongst the salespeople. Then, after my Mom inquired about the shipping fee, the person who looked like the manager made up some number after saying «She’s not going to buy it anyhow.» I could hear him say this! I didn’t appreciate whatever assumptions they made about us without speaking with us first. We left afterwards without purchasing a rug. Too bad because we would have bought the rug otherwise. We ended up purchasing the same rug at another store down the street. I don’t recommend shopping here.

We love, love Outrageous Rugs. We had seen three rugs someplace else and even though they didn’t have them in stock when we described them to Michael he found them in one of their numerous rugs books. We ordered them and they arrived promptly in a week. As one of the other reviews said they gave us an upgraded pad for no extra cost. The third rug we ordered came in and it was our fault because after putting it in the room we decided we needed the larger size. Called Michael no problem they have a 7 day return policy. He immediately ordered the larger size and when it came in we returned the smaller one. We did a fourth rug but they sent it in a round shape instead of the size we wanted. Again, no problem and Michael worked with us and knowing our colors we were able to get another beautiful rug. You get what you pay for and if you want quality, a store that stands by it’s products and very pleasant service stop in at Outrageous Rugs you won’t be disappointed.
PS: To the reviewer who said the staff is rude. NO WAY. in the 5 times I’ve been in there everyone was super nice and couldn’t be more helpful.

Terrible. I ordered two rugs specifically because they said we’d get them in 5 – 7 days. Here we are a month later and still no rugs and I get a different story every time I call.

My fiancé and I stopped by here after work one day to look for a rug for our condo.
They had a very large selection of rugs in many different styles and sizes. Ross, the owner/​manager (?) was very helpful and let us look through their selection. There were many rugs that were out of our price range but we did end up finding a rug that we liked that was within our budget. It was already on sale but we asked Ross if that was the best he could do and he brought the price down an extra $ 25 plus sold us a very high quality rug pad for $ 20 (not one of those net looking rug pads you get at Target or Wal-​Mart for $ 40…this one is thick and cushioned.)
He had the rug rolled up and put into our car and we were off! The rug is beautiful in our condo — thank you, Outrageous Rugs!

Met up with the husband for lunch and decided to browse this store since it was next door to where we were eating. There were signs for 50% off so we couldn’t resist.
Having a big house means plenty of room to decorate and buy stuff for it! My husband loves Persian and Turkish rugs so we found 2 we liked. One for the living room and one for the dining room. The man there was very knowledgeable about the rugs. We told him the colors of our furniture and he suggested a few colors that would pop and add class to the rooms. The rugs are a little pricey, but they’re Persian rugs after all. He gave us a deal for buying two rugs and we walked out of there with gigantic rugs for our house.
The place maybe small but there’s tons of selections and you can order some from his book if they don’t have it available. I think that’s what makes this place stands out… the customer service!

The rugs are pretty nice here… but OVERPRICED… oh and theres this really RUDE ass mexican guy who works there which made me knock down 2 stars just for his rude ass. Also shop somewhere else bc there are TONS of other rug places next door which Cheaper prices… oh and i also returned the rug i bought after i realized how rude that guy was and i felt good getting my money back for that over priced rug that was MADE IN CHINA! $ 185 for a damn rug made in china?
