History

Established in 1979.

In 1979 John Gilmore established Gilmore Heating and Air after relocating from Southern California to Placerville. The business has continued to develop over the last 33 years and has enjoyed serving over 26,000 customers through the years. Many of these customers have been with us since the begining and we are now serving their children and grandchildren. Our goal is to develop life long customers by making sure that every customer is 100% satisfied with every service we provide.

After graduating from Los Angeles Technical College in air conditioning technologies, John Gilmore started his career by designing heating and air conditioning systems for a large residential firm in Southern California where he rose to the position of Vice President of Operations. In 1972 John moved-​on to manage and help build a new Southern California company, Certified Air & Heating, into one of the country’s largest service and replacement companies at that time.

In 1973, he then decided to open his own heating and air company in Glendale, CA. which still operates today under its own management.

In 1979, John opened up the current location of Gilmore Heating, Air, and Solar on Missouri Flat Road in Placerville, CA.

John’s son, Darrin, is now the general manager. John maintains an active role behind the scenes.

Gilmore Heating, Air, and Solar has now grown to 70+ employees.

I have ALWAYS gotten excellent service from Gilmore Heating & Air. From the very courteous and professional women who answer the phones and make the appointments to the techs they send out to do our maintenance work. Today Allen S. was my tech. Not only was he knowledgable and thorough, but he took pictures of every component of my unit and took the time to show me each one and explain what it was and how it worked and what he was looking for when he inspects the equipment. I know have a very basic understanding of my HVAC system and am better for it! Allen was awesome!

It started with Rose. She made the appointments, made a reminder call and notified us when the tech was 20 minutes from arrival. really on top of her job.
AllenS was or tech and was called upon to trouble shoot a furnace problem. Really knew his stuff. Very professional in every way. I was so happy with his work I asked him to install a new filter system.
Rose did her magic again and Allen did his. The installation was almost artwork. All the metalwork and insulation was perfect. The job site cleaned and debris removed all at a very reasonable price. Awesome job.

D.J. did a thorough inspection of our aging furnace and gave us an honest assessment of its condition. We’re planning to install solar this summer, so he gave us several options to think about when the time comes. He was courteous, friendly, and explained everything very well. When we’re ready to upgrade, we will definitely be going back to Gilmore Heating Air and Solar.

Level of service for the furnace check up was very high, from the initial scheduling (very friendly young lady on the phone) through to the actual appointment. We received a call 48 hours prior to the appointment as a reminder (normally 24 hours before but that was Thanksgiving) and an additional call 20 minutes before the appointment.
Ryan was very friendly, professional and thorough. After his inspection of the furnace he patiently explained his findings and answered all of our questions.
He recommended various options how to proceed and we found him to be honest in his opinions. We will continue to work with Gilmore (we purchased their service club membership) and will continue to review their work.

Jason Marshall just left after performing our annual furnace inspection and maintenance. Every time a Gilmore employee visits I am impressed by the caliber of the people and organization. Jason is the latest example of that excellence. Keep up the good work Mr. GIlmore.

I really felt like Rich was looking out for my needs rather than just making the deal. I have had bids from other companies that were enticing, but Rich was able to show me that these other companies would not be able to do what they say without «surprises» or «Unforseen circumstances» arising. Everything he pointed out made perfect sense. I was impressed that he would not speak ill of any other companies despite being aware of disreputable business practices that other companies have.
It was clear that Rich was very knowledgeable about what he does, and that he is passionate about it. He did an excellent job instilling trust. Mine is a big job, so I just couldn’t go forward without a high level of trust in the company I’m doing business with.

I absolutely love these guys. They are honest, courteous and very communicative. I received a phone call the day before my appointment, and they also called me 20 mins before he arrived. This allowed me to go about my day without being chained to a 4 hour window of time! The guy recommended a few fixes on my unit, but unlike other repairmen, he let me know what was vital, and what could wait. He never made me feel like my heater would fall through the roof if I didn’t fix it immediately. I hate when technicians do that! In the end, I decided to replace my entire unit because it was 15 years old and had reached a point where it wasn’t worth fixing. Gilmore’s rep did a really good job of reviewing all my options, and suggested I finance the job through SMUD. I’m really happy with new system and feel like the whole process was smooth.

ADAM & the entire GILMORE STAFF get an A+ from us!
We can’t say enough GREAT things regarding GILMORE Heating & Air! We had purchased our ac/​h units from a «local competitor» & what a nightmare! I’ll spare the specifics, except that the «competitor’s ineptness, lack of professionalism & work ethic» impeded the City from signing off on our permit (for 13 months!). ONE VISIT from GILMORE & the minor problem was rectified & the City signed off! We have our units maintained by GILMORE each & every 6 months & are ALWAYS satisfied customers! GILMORE’S prices are fair & they always explain things thoroughly. THANKS ADAM!

Beware of these guys!! had them come out and inspect our system, we new our system was old and needed replaced .so they sent out there comfort care scam artist gave us a price so to we decided on maybe financing so they told, us we can check your credit to see what
You would qualify for no biggie right sure why not… three weeks later no communication no nothing so we decided on another contractor well low and behold we got a credit card through syncroni bank with Gilmore heating on it at NO point did they tell us that they had opened a credit card up with there name on it TRAPPING US INTO STAYING WITH THEM,
Shady way to do business FYI stay away from these clowns they are a joke no BS!!! now we have a open line of credit with these guys and we did not even want to use them.

Gilmore provides excellent customer service. I had an A/​C repair service by the service tech, Cody. He very professional and courteous with the repair. Cody was able to diagnose and explain the problem with my Lennox AC and the service was performed with Warranty guaranteed, From front office staff with appointment notification to the service, Gilmore is top notch! They are honest and reliable and I recommend this A+ outfit.

GET 2 nd opinions and quotes if you can put up with a little hot air to save some money and find a honest contractor.
almost $ 900.00 + est to fix non op ac with the possibility of an additional $ 600.00 after the $ 900.00+ work was done! ???
found a contractor that got me up and running 3 days later for $ 100

I called them to ask that they come out and give me a quote for a new install of a solar system AND a new HVAC system for my house. They came out a few days later and inspected our home, took measurements, etc and then advised we would hear back within a few days. That was almost three weeks ago and I have never heard back from them. No calls, e-​mails, nothing. I know it’s a big company, and they probably have plenty of work, but I feel like this is horrible service and huge waste of my time. Honestly, this is such a poor way to start a lengthy and expensive process, I guess I should be relieved I ran into this trouble now instead of after the work was completed. I don’t know that I would ever trust them after this.

We recently, during high temps of course, had a problem with our cooling system. We were pleased with the quick response to review/​identify the problem. The part needed was provided the next day and we had our much appreciated AC. The staff was quick to identify the problem, keep us informed as to when the service tech would be arriving, and it only took minutes to put in the new part. We have been dealing with Gilmore for years and will continue to do so. Thank you!

I am a disabled senior on a fixed income. I have been taken for a ride with other company’s. But, Gilmore Heating & Air helped me 4 ½ months ago when my Heater went out. Now the hot weather is here my AC went out and again they are here to help me. I called them on a Sunday night when it couldn’t take the heat anymore and they answered the phone. A real person. It’s nice to have that person to person contact instead of having to leave a message. Thank you Gilmore.
