Gabriel showed up on time, did the work quickly, and went out of his way to find a replacement screw in his supplies for a door knob that was missing. Before leaving, he took the time to go over some home security details, which was very helpful. I will definitely give him a call next time I need any lock work done.

Gabriel is great! Very professional and definitely knows his stuff. He came at the scheduled time and always kept in contact via text to remind me of our appointment and let me know how far out he was. He re-​keyed 3 doors, repaired my patio locking mechanism and informed us of vulnerabilities in securing our home. He is definitely geared to provide the best security he can but doesn’t complain when the request doesn’t seem like the most secure option. He offers great products in terms of security but never pressures you to purchase anything you can’t afford. He understands that people have certain budgets and he gladly helps you get what you need within the budget. His van comes fully stocked and he seems prepared to tackle any job that pertains to your lock and key. Highly recommended!

First of all — thank you to Gabriel for your kindness, help and advice! I was locked out of my place and needed help quickly, and Gabriel responded right away and came to my place in less than 30 minutes. He even texted to tell me he was 5 minutes from arriving. He was able to quickly open the door for me without any damage to my property, and stayed for a bit to make sure everything was okay. He answered all of my questions and was so courteous and helpful the whole time. I paid $ 95 for the lockout service — but it was worth it, to the point that I actually felt good spending the $ 95 (hard to imagine, but true). If you are in the Oakland/​San Francisco/​Berkeley area and need a honest, skilled locksmith, then Gabriel Lock & Key is the place you need to call! I wish our community had more honest folks like Gabriel. If I could give 6 stars, I really would! Also, credit/​debit cards ARE accepted.

OMG! This guy is so great I had to immediately write a review after he unlocked my door. Seriously. The $ 95 cost is so worth it because Gabriel is super fast, respectful and efficient. It literally took only 10 mins for the whole issue to be resolved. Thank God for guys like Gabriel!

Going on other positive Unilocal reviews, I decided to take a chance on Gabriel. I’m glad I did! First of all he’s very responsive and is the one who answers the phone when you call – definite plus. Is also very knowledgeable about locks and even provided links to videos about lock safety. He worked efficiently, fast and I had two new deadbolts (and several keys) in no time! Full service. Would definitely use again.

I called Gabriel last night after work and he was at my place this morning. Even called and asked if he could show up early, which was a nice treat.
He gave an honest assessment of my existing lock situation and recommended options, while never putting pressure on me to choose the more expensive equipment. I’m glad I did though, because these futuristic looking keys are badass! Now I can feel important every time I open my door.
Would definitely recommend Gabriel and will be using him again for all my lock and key needs.

Gabriel called back right away and came out to the house within 48hrs to replace several locks on our new home. He was really efficient in terms of his response time (I appreciated that he sent a lot of info and confirmed our appt time via text) and time on the job. He didn’t try to up-​sell us but after learning more about locks from 20 mins going over options, we opted for a more expensive option. Apparently most locks aren’t that hard to break into. He also encouraged us not to replace a lock on a door that didn’t have a great frame to begin with – not a great use of $$. We appreciated the honesty. Gabriel was also just a rad guy, super sharp and laid back. Highly recommend.

Avi was great! He was very prompt, he came within 10 minutes and saved me on Xmas eve. It took him a minute, literally, to unlock the door and his rate was by far the best at only $ 85. He’s super friendly as well which always helps for something stressful like this. Thanks Avi!

Gabriel is excellent. Fast, organized, gets the job done & with excellent customer service

Gabriel has installed locks in two houses for me for a total of seven locks.
He is super professional and courteous, on time, and really a pleasure to work with.
Plus, three years in from him replacing locks for me the first time they are all working great!

Gabriel was quick to respond when we needed duplicate keys made. Payment was easy and simple via PayPal and the keys were sent immediately upon payment. Gabriel also gave honest feedback when we requested something extra and he made a point to let us know it may not be necessary.

Gabriel knows his stuff! I just bought a condo in Oakland, and decided to get the lock not just re-​keyed, but completely changed. Additionally, I needed a garage door remote.
Gabriel gave me some suggestions about different deadbolts as well as the different prices, and having heard from neighbors that there had been break-​ins, I went for the highest security lock. (Pro-​tip: it doesn’t matter how much you spend on a security system, the best security starts with a good lock on your door.)
Gabriel showed up well within the time he allotted, and he got to work. He brought a universal remote for the garage door, and re-​programmed the keypad, as well as furnished me with a new 9-​volt battery for the keypad (his van is well equipped and so tidy!) In all, the price was on the high side but exactly what he quoted. His competence and knowledge, as well as my sense of security, made it all worth it. He is easy to work with, and invited me to see everything he did. I cannot recommend him enough!

Update 10÷25÷15: Gabriel contacted me directly after this review and we discussed the communication snafu on the keypad install… definitely a shared responsibility there. Turns out, the keypad won’t work with the set-​up I’ll eventually have installed with a security door. He also honored the $ 15 discount. Apparently he fields so many service calls that it’s hard to keep track of customers’ conversations and needs. Fair enough. Again, super professional and very impressed. Glad to see a reliable, local small business committee to keeping folks happy!
I called Gabriel on a Friday afternoon to inquire about upgrading our front and back door with higher security locks to include a keypad option on our front door for convenience. He thoroughly explained the products he had to offer and how those locks systems work. He said he would need to come out to visually confirm our existing set-​up in order to make the best recommendations and exact estimate.
He had an opening the very next day for 1−3pm and I took it. On Saturday, Gabriel was available earlier and gave me the courtesy of a phone call and text to ask if I was available at the earlier time. I was very appreciative of this because I’ve had other contractors just show up early expecting me to be ready.
Not only did he complete both doors in a timely manner, he offered suggestions elsewhere as well as a handyman recommendation to look into securing our door frames better by installing kick plates.
He was also super patient with my rambunctious puppy, Sweetpea, who was excited about the new houseguest.
While he was here, I also needed the garage door lock re-​keyed and he added that to the work order without issue.
My only criticism is that he never offered an option to install a keypad lock system on the front door (as I originally requested the day before). To be fair, I didn’t bring it up directly, but I assumed it was because Gabriel determined on site that it wouldn’t work on the existing door. However, if my door was suitable for a keypad, I would’ve gladly preferred and paid for it.
Also, the day prior he said I’d be eligible for a discount based on a minimum purchase of work done, but when I reviewed the emailed invoice, I never received a discount.
All in all, I was happy with his service and would recommend Gabriel to others.

I called Gabriel right before buying a new home to get an estimate on re-​keying and/​or replacing locks. He gave very fair estimates and plenty of information regarding the entire process. We booked him for the next day and he was fantastic!
He was prompt and very knowledgeable, he made sure to give us his professional advice and recommendations while still listening to exactly what we wanted. After doing the full scope of work, he even provided a discount on the spot. Amazing, professional and so incredibly helpful. He set us up with top of the line locks at very fair prices. He explained the process and reasoning behind using the better locks and showed us weakness points that our home previously had and let us know how we could re-​enforce them.
I’m always hesitant to go off of online reviews for people when I need something done but in this case, I have no regrets and will be calling Gabriel directly for any future locksmithing needs. I very highly recommend him and his honest, fair services.

Arrives quickly, and is reasonably priced. A lifesaver…

I had Recieved a Call form one of my Moms Neighbors that someone had broke into Her House again .
So I jumped into my Whip and Rolled to my Moms house .
What I found blew my mind the Burglars had Pried open a Steel Security door open and had bent the 2 Deadbolts –Bolts enough to force that door open and had kicked in the Front wood door and shattered the door frame .
I called Gabriel Lock & Key and got a hold of Gabriel and he responded in less than and hour .
He Removed the 2 Old Damaged Deadbolts and replaced them with 2 Industrial Heavy Duty Deadbolts that he had to fit in .
He was very Professional, Fast and Knowledgable .
I would use him again .
I called OPD but they never sent anyone .
Thats why Oakland is Crime Central the cops dont give a Fuck.
