UCLA Health Playa-Marina Walk-In Urgent Care Center

I came to this location after having a horrible cough for a week. I usually go to Santa Monica Urgent care and work at Westwood where they have an Urgent care as well. However, I was told by a family member that this location is quick visit and also close to home. I got there in the late afternoon hoping it wasn’t close around 7:30pm. I checked in and within 10 minutes I was called in. The nurse took my vitals and the doctor came in about 5 minutes later. The doctor was a women and very young, she prescribed me medications and it was good meds that helped with my issue. The staff was very caring, helpful, attentive and there wasn’t long waits.

No complaints. I’ve visited this office a few times, so does my Wife and am a current patient with Dr Gilmore. Hours are great, and staff I’ve interacted with is great. Calls are returned, and everyone is always friendly and professional.
There is Parking, but it’s not free. That would be my only negative.

Dr. Chaikin is an amazing doctor and will always accommodate your needs. He does questions your problems and is always there to help. I love seeing him he is an amazing doctor and helped me through a lot of my problems. Thanks chaikin your an amazing Doctor !!!

Sorry to have to give it one star because I’ve had decent experiences in the past, but I was misdiagnosed this time. What turned out to be acute tonsillitis was treated as allergies by a dismissive doctor who’s name I can’t even tell you because he didn’t introduce himself. I will never go back, and you should really read these reviews before deciding to whom you should entrust your health care. If they are this lax about a common problem, I’d worry about anything else more serious. A round of antibiotics prescribed by a different and better urgent care center cured me. Thankfully I listened to my intuition and continued seeking answers.

I see Dr. Chaikin quite often. He is personable, caring, and professional. He takes his time with me and really listens to what’s going on. He seems to genuinely care. My father is a doctor as well, and Dr. Chaikin definitely lives up to my expectations of a doctor who is gracious, warm hearted, and kind. He doesn’t just come in for 2 mins and leave. He listens and is compassionate. He is considerate and all around a good man. I recommend him 100%!

Long hours. No wait when I happened to luck out at the end of the day. Convenient and easy access. Friendly and solid care. Your mileage and wait may vary.

I went to this urgent care office the other day with a suspected broken toe. I stubbed my toe on a piece of furniture and it was totally black and blue and painful to walk on. The doctor who saw me (Dr. Maloney? or something to that effect) came in and was very standoff-​ish and dismissive of my pain saying «there was nothing really they could do if it was broken» but then conceded they could refer me to a pediotrist which is what I wanted but I was not given the referral. They took x-​rays at the facility and the Doctor told me she «didn’t see any fractures». but fractures and bruises are pretty much the same except they take different amounts of time to heal… her response seemed very noncommital, like she was talking in circles and not confirming or denying if it was actually broken or not. Her solution for me was to «buddy tape» my toes and take Tylenol. they didn’t even offer me the corrective shoe to take home to help it heal! I just ordered one on Amazon and had to pay ridiculous shipping to get it here fast so my toe can heal properly. Today my toe has been feeling numb and tingling and, from everything I’m reading online, that is a sign that it is in fact broken! If it doesn’t feel better soon I might consider going to the ER where hopefully I can get better care.
I’m giving the office two stars for the two nurses that were beyond helpful, caring and nice! If only they were the ones handling my care I’m sure I would be giving five stars now. But unfortunately what I went there for which was kind, compassionate help from a doctor for my foot pain and that did not happen. I’m worried that ignoring this problem is going to cause my bone to heal improperly and cause a lifetime of pain, all because one doctor refused to do a thorough job making sure my medical concern was addressed. I am also attaching a picture of my toe so you can see its clearly broken and not just «bruised.»

I have been going to this clinic for a while since my regular GP can be difficult to get an appointment with, and I have been really happy with my treatment there. I also went there for some follow up after a surgery and the doctors and nurses are always the nicest people. I have recently seen Megan twice now and have been really happy with her. She’s very personal and is very endearing. I’m sure the waits here can be crazy but if you can time it properly, you can get right in. I’ve never had to wait more then 15 mins. I’m really happy to have this place as an option for my medical needs.

Don’t waste your time going there because they will surely waste yours. I had to wait two hours and still wasn’t called.

This is the worst UCLA office.
They have the most irresponsible nurses and receptionists. They could care less about you. They never call you back, forget about leaving messages to doctors, put you on hold forever and talk to you like you just ordered a burger. They have no sense of responsibility or urgency and this is your HEALTH! i am scared to put my health on their hands. They will make excuses instead of following up. INEXCUSABLE.

Came in with a bad head cold/​flu and a severe cough. Was told to take dayquil. Subsequently sickness worsened and now am coughing bloody phlegm. Unlikely I will return.

I’ve been to this facility several times. I’ve always found the staff polite and helpful. Parking is only validated by the pharmacy I believe. I had to go in the evening for Urgent care and parking was closed so I didn’t have to pay at night.

Could not be more impressed with the Urgent Care service I received today. I was in and out within 1.5 hours. This time included wait, Dr visit & x-​rays. I received wonderful care and recommend it to everyone.

UPDATE: 9÷20÷15 we just received a new bill for $ 458 (even more than the previous amounts). This is insane. We have called to speak with ucla billing which has told us we owe them nothing and to disregard their bills. Kind of hard to disregard bills that keep on coming. This place needs to be reported.
This place is a total scam! Do not go here! My boyfriend and I went here in JANUARY when he hurt his back snowboarding. We saw Dr Chaikin and at the time liked him and thought he was great. He even considered making him his primary. A month later he gets billed for about $ 400 and he paid it off immediately. Pricey even with top notch insurance but whatever, we paid it. 6 months later we get a bill for $ 400 more. 6 months!!! After hashing it out with their billing office and our insurance, our insurance determines we owe them nothing. Today, we get a bill for the same services that were paid in January for $ 212. They are pulling numbers out of their asses. We are calling again to discuss with insurance. This entire place is a scam.

Not so urgent, urgent care. Two hours wait mid-​afternoon. To top it off parking is 2 bucks every 30 min. If you can wait to see your GP the next day, I would strongly advise to wait!

Next time I will go to the UCLA urgent care in Santa Monica. I waited a long time then did not even get to see an MD, just a nurs. They billed my insurance $ 800 to dispense an antibiotic.
Total gouge.

Unfortunately had to drop by this great urgent care for some antiobiotics. At least It’s Close the staff are great and I don’t have to go to the hospital. Parking right next door. Don’t miss it or you’ll have to make a huge circle to get back. Very convenient and right next to MDR harbor

Takes forever to be seen even if there is no one waiting. But the doctors and staff are good. No matter what you are looking at over an hour just waiting here.

Came in without an appointment last week around 1:30pm, and was seen very quickly. I did not interact with a doctor, but the physician assistant who helped me seemed competent. Was in and out within 25 minutes with a script and instructions. Got my script filled at the pharmacy outside (they validate for parking). Pharmacy took my insurance, filled the prescription in 10 minutes, and I was on my way. Parking with validation cost $ 2 for the first hour. I hope UCLA expands their network of urgent care centers to torrance and redondo beach — that would be much more convenient for me!

Ive been coming to this clinic as my primary care doctor appointments for almost two years now. I love the staff here, and Dr. Chaikin is an amazing physician. I always make an appointment prior to coming in, unless it is seriously an emergency. With an appointment, the wait time isn’t too bad. The office is clean, the staff is pleasant, and the location is convenient. Lots of people just walk in and think they can be seen right away, but keep in mind this is a physicians office, and an urgent care clinic. The physicians have regular patients that they see, and they see emergency patients for minor injuries/​illnesses. If you need serious medical help, go to the emergency room, but I bet the wait there is even longer.
If you are looking for a primary care physician, I highly recommend Dr. Chaikin. He treats his patients as individuals and remembers who they are, what their hobbies are, and what they are coming in for. I wouldn’t drive down Lincoln unless the care was outstanding, and to me it always has been!
