Same story as some of the others… Both Husband and wife must be present. Oh well. Moving on.

The service and product we received from Advanced Exteriors was outstanding. Yes, they are much higher in cost than other painting contractors but comparing their products are like comparing apples to oranges. Rhino Shield has a twenty five year warranty which means the paint will probably outlast us. I cant say enough great things about Ricardo and his crew. They were professional, beyond courteous and cleaned up at the end of each day. They always gave me updates about where they were in the process (yes there’s is a process not just a paint job). The entire project lasted three weeks and, being retired, we were there to see the progress. Their prep was was thorough and I’m sure is the secret to the quality of their work. They spent three days just sanding, sealing and caulking all the wood trim. We have had numerous people stop and compliment us on the job they did. If you want a quality product and very professional service, I highly recommend Advanced Exteriors.

Thank you Advanced Exteriors! I’m in the sixth house on our block the used Rhino Shield. The first house was done about 8 years ago. Everyone has raced about the workmanship and the time spent on detail. Your employees are courteous and keep us informed about what’s coming next. One of the reasons I picked your company is there was a house that was painted with regular paint about 2 years ago and I compared it to the house you coated with Rhino Shield eight years ago. Your Rhino Shield looked better and based on what all my neighbors said and experienced I decided to use Advanced Exteriors. I know some of our neighbors will be using Advanced Exteriors in the future. You’re 50 years of experience is evident.

Advanced Exterior’s response is flawed. To say we were out of their area doesn’t make sense since they were more than excited to provide an estimate and the owner was on his way, albeit running late. Not because of a rain shower, but because he didn’t value the customer’s time. His response talks about rain on the mountain is funny. I was there, he says he was over a half hour away in the city, he had no way of knowing if it was raining or not. The reality was that he was going to be so late that my wife had to leave and that is when he said he was going to turn around. See, as in the other reviews, they use high pressure sales tactics to get you to sign right then and there, before you realize how much more their product costs or get reviews from the BBB or Unilocal.As to say that Palomar Mountain is out of their service area was just another excuse. In fact, they told me they had nearly a dozen customers on the mountain already. What’s the truth? Can’t have it both ways! The owner said to me that Palomar Mountain is just too dangerous for his employees and he has a right to decide what neighborhoods he will work in. Just like the cake maker saying who they will bake cakes for or redlining from years ago, he picks what neighborhoods and who he will work for. Then I found out that he secretly records his conversations. Why? Creepy? Illegal… yes, read California penal code section 632a. This company was not honest with me. The product may be great but per them cost about three time that of a great paint job. In my books, I could have my home repainted every 8 years and still be ahead. Remember, the owner was on his way but was running way late, that should say enough about the honesty of his response about being out of the area and the rest of his story. They knew they lost a sale when I had time to check the reviews and get other estimates. A product that sells itself doesn’t need both parties to be present during the pitch, if it is so good, it will be easy to signatures later. These are the same tactics used in time shares and car purchases. Read the reviews, look at other options, take your time, don’t let anyone pressure you, negotiate, and like me and others, you can shop elsewhere.

It was 4 years ago that we hired Advanced Exteriors to coat and paint our house with Rhino Shield. This has been far more durable than house paint would be and we are very satisfied with their work and service. When the work was done, they described exactly what they were going to do in terms of clearing next to the house, how long the process would be, and then promised to clean up. All of this was done and done to our satisfaction. Not only has the coating been very durable but, where some minor issues did pop up, Advanced Exteriors has been very responsive.
Therefore, I can recommend both Advanced Exteriors and the Rhino Shield process based on our experience.

The painting (or ceramic coating as they call it) bubbled and peeled and the unprofessional office staff didn’t send someone out to look at it until I called continuously. Then a month later someone came out — told us it was due to water the damage because it wasn’t sealed correctly then never returned— even though the representative who came out told me they would return the next day to fix the issue. After repeated calls from my husband and I, I threatened to call BBB and a painter was dispatched. The owner Martin cane to see what was happening and his excuse… He blamed his employees on multiple occasions, citing how he had to let the original gentleman go shortly after he inspected the home and how he must not have submitted the paperwork, how his employees were difficult to manage and he could not make them go to jobsites! Martin even had the audacity to call my husband’s office saying that he has had so many issues including that he got a new database and was trying to work through learning the system.
5 months after Martin and the Office staff gave us every excuse imaginable as to why they could not come to repair the area, they finally showed up to repair the small area. They fixed the area but it was painful! I’m leaving out a lot of the details here! But what really upset me, was then today I got the nastiest email from Michelle the office manager. Unprofessional business practices!!! I’m so sorry I ever used them! Stay away!!!
I have to laugh at advanced exteriors response! Excuses excuses!
Again as a business owner Martin should accept responsibility for the lack of communication that his company is guilty of??? Yes I called repeatedly because advanced exteriors dropped the ball over and over. Yes I complained to BBB, wouldn’t you if you spent that much money and the paint bubbled and peeled and no one responded even though you had a 25 year warranty.
Honest, I don’t feel bad that Martin came out here (even though I told him it wasn’t necessary) Martin should change his plans and view warranty complaints when his company screws up! Isn’t that part of owning a business???
My favorite part of this whole experience was Martin threatening to sue us if we did not remove the negative reviews! Isn’t that what Unilocal is for? Letting others know the type of experience you had. BTW good thing Unilocal wasn’t around when i had the house painted years ago or I would’ve commented how they ruined my front door and the expensive door hardware. How Martin had to hire a subcontractor to finish my door since his staff made it worse every time they touched it. Or how advanced exterior had to buy me new door handles and hinges since his staff destroyed them using acetone on them to remove the paint they painted on them.
Stick with my original review– stay away! It’s like dealing with a childhood bully.
The saga continues, now Advanced exteriors LLC is threatening to sue me for my review both here on Unilocal and on the BBB site. Unilocal was intended to share HONEST experiences but now that I have, the threats are overwhelming!

We went to the Del Mar home show and were interested in Rhinoshield. When we set the appointment they wanted both my husband and I to be there. Both my husband and I work but I work from home so I have flexibility to set appointments plus all the house design decisions and payments for house work are done by me. My husband even told them this as well. Reluctantly, the woman made the appointment. Anyway, they were suppose to come today, and the company called to see if they could come by early to see my husband and I. I said it would just be me and that we had told them that when we made the appointment. The woman said that is not their policy. I get that they are available 7 days a week, but my husband and I work long hours and we are not giving up our weekends with our kids to hear some sales pitch from a company that won’t just talk to me. I told them they don’t get our business then and the sales person seemed totally fine with that.

They just finished my home last month and it looks absolutely beautiful! The crew (Angel, Hector and Antonio) worked very hard to complete this job, even though the weather was not being too cooperative for their progress. The office staff maintained steady communication with me during this process and I feel I was well informed of all updates on status, step by step. I would refer Rhino Shield and Advanced Exteriors to anyone looking to invest in their home asset.

The team from Advanced Exteriors is currently preparing our home for their Rhino shield coating. We are very impressed by the work ethic and professionalism of this company. They arrive on time every day and do a complete clean up before they leave in the afternoon.

Update: Going on 9 years and still looking great!
My review from a couple years ago:
I had my house coated 7 years ago. Recently got a call from advanced exteriors and asked me to inspect the exterior of my house. I was shocked that any company would call me after 7 years to see if the product was still performing. They said they randomly call past customers to make sure everything is as promised. I did an inspection as requested and my house still looks like they had just finished. There were some minor scratches and one small 1 inch bubble. They offered to fix the small bubble and that there would be a small charge for the scratches. I told him there was no need but if I found: further problems down the road I would let them know, my house looks great. I did a lot of research before I picked advanced exteriors rhino shield. I had about five contractors work on my house prior for different improvements. Advanced exteriors was the first company to finish on time with no surprises. I refer them to two friends and they both used advanced exteriors and are just as happy as I am. My friend Tammy said exceeded their expectations. Thank you advanced exteriors keep up the good work!

Love this company! My house looks great after 7 years with Rhino Shield on it. Love the crew. Love the customer service. Especially love not having to paint again! Thank you Advanced Exteriors. Highly recommended!

Just like another person said, it takes both the husband and wife for them to bid a job. The guy showed up on time today, quickly asked if my wife was home. I mentioned that she got called into work. The guy refused to bid the job and chose to lose the business and left my house without bidding the job. Unbelievable!!! Complete waste of time!!!
DEFINITELY NOT A COMPANY I WANT TO BE DOING BUSINESS WITH!!!

Regrettably, just to get a quote, they have a policy that requires BOTH husband and wife to be on hand, AND that you must allow for up to two hours with their sales monkey… in other words, they want to wear you down and hopefully CLOSE you on the spot!
As such, I will not be doing business with them – because they have decided I am not worth their time if I don’t agree to these stipulations. Looks like they get 5-​star reviews and are likely doing quite well, so who needs me, huh? Beware, as the middle class diminishes and the retired baby boomers hold on to their money, companies like Advanced Exteriors will eventually disappear, making the feel-​good warranty they tout invalid. Lifetime (or 25 year) warranties are often bogus anyway… the supplier will always come up with reasons why something YOU did or didn’t do is the reason the product has failed, which invalidates the warranty. FACT: Hardly anyone ever reads the fine print in a multi-​page warranty – and they know it.
Finally, speaking from multiple bad experiences, just recognize that home remodel contractors – in general – are a nefarious bunch that promise the world and then debate with you everything you automatically expected to happen… once they start. Don’t sign a vague contract; define every little point in precise wording, and do some research beforehand to know what they might try to skip or gloss over.

I am in a color coma! I love this company! Carlos and Arturo did a beautiful job on our house, built in 1979 it has been painted many times. Our home looks like brand new construction thanks to these guys. 3 weeks of preping was so worth the result. Our home is sealed from top to bottem, no more air leaks. We have 3 more customers for them right now. Very professional, cleaned up everyday and they were very respectful of the people that were on the property. Thanks to all of the crew who did work on our house.

Not my cup of tea because I like the straight-​shooters, but if you think about doing business with these guys you should know the following:
— when they quote you a price for your home you need to know they start really high so you must negotiate down. I did some research in advance and sure enough it held true. I got mine down to nearly half the original quote — seriously!
— read the warranties (product & labor) thoroughly as they have all sorts of outs. Seems there are lots of disclaimers to the «never paint your home again»

Wow! My house looks like a castle!!! Ricardo and his crew (Marcos and Carlos) were SO fabulously wonderful to work with. They were on time, cleaned up every day and always had smiles on their faces. They went OUT OF THEIR WAY to make us happy and satisfied. We had lots of work that needed to be done. New stucco, new woodwork, repairing gutters, repairing the roof and they made it very easy to accomplish! I highly recommend this company to anyone out there who wants to make their home beautiful!

We have been admiring the new finish on our home. I still love the comments we get from our neighbors on how great it looks! We also got comments about the men that did the job. Shu and I and our neighbors, were so impressed on their professionalism! How they were not only concerned about our property, but also our neighbors. The crew worked to keep us informed of the progress, so we felt comfortable. They accommodated all of our requests. They paid attention to the smallest of details. When it came to choosing the paint. They just worked with us to help us find the right colors. It has been about 3 weeks now and I still can’t stop admiring our home. It is simply gorgeous!!! We really found the right color combination. All the hard work that Jerry, Jose, Jose, Carlos and Ricardo did. Well it really makes our home the envy of our neighbors. I can’t thank them enough for their patience and for working with us. I would recommend them to anyone looking to have the job done right. Thanks for our beautiful home…
