Bay Alarm Company

Bay Alarm is very efficient in managing our alarm system and prompt to notify us if the alarm goes off and/​or is not set by the regularly scheduled time. We had received a charge for a police call due to unscheduled brown outs in our area. We communicated with Bay Alarm regarding this charge, which was no fault of ours. They credited our account for the «police call» and seemed very sincere about maintaining good will with our company. THANK YOU Bay Alarm!

Our condo complex uses these guys so we don’t really have a choice, but if we did we would definitely switch. I made an appointment for a Fire Alarm Inspection and they just didn’t show up — no call, nothing. When I called to find out why we sat around for 4 hours for an inspector that never showed up, they said someone else had called in and changed the appointment time. This other random person whom I don’t know wasn’t listed as the original contact name or phone number for the appointment, so I have no idea how they were able to change my appointment time. All the rep could do is reschedule the appointment for next week (another 4 hours down the drain) and couldn’t guarantee that a random stranger wouldn’t be able to change my appointment without going through me. Irritating.

Stoked to see Bay Alarm has a great service tech leader in San Diego. Derek G. came out to check our back door sensor and he did a great job. He was friendly, listened well, and helped educate me on the functionality of the program and how the sensor mechanism functions.
He communicated his value to do what it takes complete the job right the first time. He said some installers use existing sensors or outdated sensors, which tend to create problems in the future. Our heavy door had sagged some and the magnet in the sensor mechanism was the old school/​weaker kind so we had a fault. He showed me the Bay Alarm sensors and installed their industrial one for us.
I appreciate Derek G’s value for installing tools that provide optimal functioning. Even though we experienced the fault, I’m glad Derek G made the decision to put in optimal tools.
As one who values being resourceful and using what you have at hand, I believe that value should take a back seat when it comes to security systems. Cost/​Risk ratios should prioritize the optimal design conditions that reduce possible risk even if it reduces the business income stream. I am glad they employ people like Derek Gumataotao who wisely prioritizes risk reduction over cost. His insight into the unique circumstances our our old school door and operating environment communicate to me that he is highly experienced and a top level designer in regard to security systems. Hopefully his value and intelligence will rub off on other installers and become the un-​questionable standard for Bay Alarm policies and installers.
In regard to dispatch, we experienced a little difficulty in communication. Had dispatched understood our bypass mode error and the timeline we communicated to them, we could have avoided a false alarm to the PD. Nonetheless, I understand the difficulty in dialogue over the phone during a time sensitive event. Ultimately, I learned to never put it in bypass mode when there is a Section Fault.
All in all, we are pleased with the ease of arming and disarming and have confidence in the function of our alarm system. Thanks Bay Alarm!

We use bay alarm at my place of business and they are excellent! Jeff came for our initial consultation and was prompt, knowledgeable, and thorough. The technicians who installed our system helped us solve some issues that we knew existed and could never figure out.
As far as monthly service is concerned, they contact us immediately when there is an issue and truly seem to care about us. It’s amazing to have a company that CARES. Kudos, Bay Alarm for protecting our business!

I am very pleased with the service I’ve received so far. Ryan and Doug came and explained the options for what I needed a day after I called and then Matt did the installation four days later and everything is working perfectly. It was great working with those three and I would recommend Bay Alarm to anyone who needs a good system at a reasonable cost.

I was contacted following my initial review and I must say, these guys definitely changed my opinion of them and their service.
Well, Doug (Sales Manager), Monica (Sales), Baylon (hope I got his name right! Technician), Matt (Technician), Jay (Technician) and Alexandria (Customer Care) all did. Each one of them provided phenomenal customer service and I am grateful that I had the opportunity to work with them given my initial experience with the company.
Scheduling service calls was a breeze when I was working directly with Monica. She was extremely accommodating with my hectic schedule, which was a huge help as I was moving my service from one residence to another. (Moving is stressful as is without factoring an alarm into everything!) The technicians are always pleasant to deal with (that’s never been an issue for me). Alexandria is very efficient and a pleasure to work with in Customer Care. She follows through, which isn’t something you see in a company nowadays.
I’m hoping that I won’t require any service calls in the future, but I hope I’ll have the chance to work with these guys if I do. Thank you, you guys! :)

This is my update to the review I put in for my new installation in January. I had all new windows installed so I had to have them come out, take out the wireless contacts the morning of the installation and come back the next day to re-​install them on the new windows. It all went perfectly! Mike came out …9:00 sharp… only took him about 30 minutes. He also left the front door and my infrared active so for that night I could still use the alarm… made me feel a lot better. The next day he came back out, put in all the old contacts, plus two more… only took him about 45 minutes. I am so glad I chose Bay Alarm. These folks really know what they are doing.

After my initial review of really poor performance, I was contacted by management of the local Kearny Mesa branch, and they were not only really responsive, but provided a really solid quote for some security cameras and completed the install in a timely manner. Working with the local team has been great… the support at the call center up north could use some improvement.

We are very happy with our new alarm system! Our experience with Bay Alarm was nothing but positive. .. from the initial meeting to the final installation. Our Sales Representative, Ryan, was very professional and did an excellent job explaining our options. Highly recommend Bay Alarm.

I had some problems with this company but it turns out that I wasn’t speaking to the right person at the Company. After I sent a letter to management they called me and straightened everything out. I appreciate their quick response to my concerns.

My company has Bay Alarm and all of my service calls have been handled professionally and promptly. The office manager has been amazing to work with and the techs understand our needs. The SDA/​BAY transition has had it’s bumps but nothing I would not expect or be patient enough to work through.

I recently had a system installed and while the system itself should eventually be ok, the process in getting there has been frustrating. This company seems like it’s just too big. The finger pointing and lack of communication and followup is staggering. If you call just to have a question answered, you’ll be tossed around like a hot potato. The installation team that came to my house was a subcontractor — problem number one. I purposefully chose Bay Alarms because I don’t like the franchise model of ADT. So, my first experience with them was with an uninformed and (un-​uniformed) team of installers who BTW were two hours late because they were from Temecula (we live in San Diego). They didn’t bring all of the equipment necessary blaming the sales person for not doing the order correctly. So, up to this point the onus has always been on me to followup on things they drop the ball on so this time I purposefully waited to see how long it would take them to call me. Eleven days later, they finally call to schedule the completion. Since then, it’s been operations (justifiably) pointing at sales for every new issue I have. My salesperson went on maternity leave so the sales manager called at one point (even though I assume it was to expedite the completion of my install so he could get paid). NIce touch except he fails to tell me who my point of contact is while my original sales person is out and then completely ignores my first and only voicemail with a question I have about my install. Since he doesn’t seem to be calling back I call them and ask for anybody that knows anything about cameras since my electrician is here and I need a question answered right away. After being transferred three times (explaining my story each time) I end up with a guy who answers my question. In their own way, the people there are trying. But they seem to be constantly putting out fires. Even when I was escalated and scheduled to have a service call to fix my problems a sales person failed to call me before the appointment to add the equipment that would be needed for the call. Ironically, I find out later that the guy who answered my questions about the camera was the guy who was supposed to be calling me to order equipment for my upcoming appointment. If I were a consultant to this company, the number one thing I would fix is the disconnect between sales and operations. Look, I know sales people by nature are not the most thorough people in the world but this place takes it to a new level.
So, as it stands, the sales guy who finally called (because I called because he never called) is supposed to order the camera and additional keypad that I need for my next appointment and then call to schedule the appointment. I’m a little worried about this one because I’m guessing somebody’s commission check isn’t resting on whether this gets done or not but as an experiment let’s see how long it takes… I really hope the monitoring is more thorough than the install but until I find out, I’m getting a safe deposit box.

Bay Alarm planned our security cameras and DVR monitoring of the cameras. They also set-​up an on-​going maintenance program for camera installations that provide security for our 4 commercial buildings in the Bankers Hill/​Hillcrest area of San Diego.
To begin, Bay Alarm’s sales and technical staff met with our site’s General Contractor who shared with me, the owner, that Bay Alarm’s depth of knowledge, attention to every detail, flexibility, and pride in their work put them in a separate category, compared to others in the field with whom he had met. Additionally, their prices were fair. We decided to proceed with Bay Alarm and are very pleased that we did so.
I have had the opportunity to work with the Sales Representative, Patrick Akins, also the Technician, Steven Long. Both gentlemen are entirely customer oriented: kind, responsive, and very competent. Mr. Akins graciously went out of his way to arrange what I needed. Mr. Long programmed the DVR and assisted me in setting up my iphone and PC viewing of the output screens; he was enormously patient. It is so refreshing to find people who genuinely care about what they are doing and care about their customers. When they say, «Is there anything else I can help you with?» They mean it!

Bay Alarm gave up trying to get my old alarm system to work and put in a replacement system. Things have been going good so far but since the replacement system was only a few weeks ago I’m going to wait and see at this point.

I found the Bay Alarm team to be timely, professional and very reasonably priced. I also appreciate that they didn’t try to sell us on things we didn’t need.
