I have used Bell acoustical in both of my homes. I had Bell scrape the ceilings, texture and paint in the last house and am very pleased with the results. i had the work done in march of 2015 and a couple of months ago i noticed some small cracks at a couple joints in the ceiling. I sent them an email a week ago and they came out and fixed the cracks 11 months later! i would recommend Bell to anyone who is looking to upgrade there house. With the competitive pricing and quality work you can’t go wrong.

I had my second house done by BELL and it looks great. The popcorn had asbestos, so they recommend a great abatement company and coordinated their schedules so the work could be done back to back and limit my time out of the house. BELL did both the texture and painting of the ceilings. I highly recommend them!

poor workmenship. i called brian bell (spoke with wife) the same day work was completed about the lumps and bumps. she stated that was up to the painter? there were lumps and bumps where the ceilling meets the walls. i had three painters turn down the painting of the ceilings. one contractor told me to call bell acoustical and i did. i feel i got the run around. sent pictures to bell acoustical. brian never came out to address my concerns. bell also did the texture on the ceiling. you can see the drywall tape even after it was painted. i have a few bubbles too. i am ready to remove popcorn from another unit i will not use brain bell acoustical again.

I recently purchased a house that was built in 1945 and didn’t seem to have any work done to it since the 70s. the interior wall texture was a disaster. Seriously, you would get road rash just rubbing up against it. I am a handy person so I decided that I would scrape it myself. After and intense hour of scraping I realized that it would take way too long and too much effort for a do-​it-​yourselfer to tackle such a job. Seriously, it was a beast! I called up Bell Acoustic and got a very reasonable quote. They scraped and texture the walls and ceiling of the house in a very short period of time. It was totally worth the effort and expense.
I read the review of the guy who gave them two stars because of some other asbestos abatement company. I think it is totally off base and here is why: I, too, had popcorn ceilings and asked what it would take to get them scraped and retextured. I used to be an asbestos building inspector and was very fearful that since the house was so old it had a strong chance of containing asbestos, depending on when the popcorn was applied. An abatement company did come out and test it, like I had done in my previous career. It turned out to be positive and I was given a quote for abatement, which I didn’t do.
The deal is, Bell Acoustic is not an abatement company and doesn’t claim to be. So why did this guy give Bell Acoustic two stars for hooking him up with a free asbestos test? Who knows… just bitter because he got bad news, I guess. I got bad news too, but the fact that my ceiling has asbestos isn’t Bell’s fault. I would use this company again, and am going to when I am ready to move to different projects in the house.

I contacted the company to get an estimate for removing my popcorn ceiling. They were prompt in returning my call, and upfront with a general estimate based on square footage. But they needed negative test results for asbestos. I don’t have that or couldn’t find it, but they said they could get me a free test from a different company. Great! Because I don’t know where to start to get it tested.
So I contact PW Stephens and the guy who calls me back (who is later identified on his business card as a «Sales Estimator») seems a little put out: «well who referred you to me? Did they say it’s a free test? Are you really serious about taking on the expense if it’s positive?» He comes to my house and explains that if it’s positive, I’ll hear from him; if it’s negative, Bell will get the report and I’ll hear from them. Guess what? It’s positive! And Mr Estimator leaves a message with a sizeable estimate. I called later for a copy of the report, and he gets all defensive that he carefully disclosed to me that the report would not be released. Apparently not clear enough! I can’t even pay for his services and the report. I asked why would I pay so much money for abatement, if I can’t see the report? And he answered that I shouldn’t have had him to the house if I didn’t trust him. But I had him out based on BELL’s referral, and I trusted Bell from their reviews!!! Apparently I get to see the report after I sign an abatement contract. Right!
Obviously my beef is more with PW Stephens, and I get to be their first Unilocal review! However, I think Bell should choose their associates/​referrals more carefully. This has left quite a bad taste in my mouth regarding Bell’s competence, and perhaps ethics. What kind of kick-​back do they get from PW Stephens when PW takes away Bell’s customers?

I had Bell Acoustical company remove my popcorn and retexture several years ago and I must say they were by far the most efficient contracting company I have ever had in my home. They did a beautiful job and didn’t leave any messes. I couldn’t believe how clean they were and I was very happy with their work. Most of the time I have contractors in my home I’m usually disappointed with the workmanship. I’m a pretty picky person and want a quality job for my money. Bell Acoustical delivered beautifully and they care about their quality of work. More contractors should care as much.

This was my second house that Bell Acoustical removed the dreaded popcorn ceiling. In both cases, the work was done professionally, neatly, and in a timely manner. Bell removed the popcorn, textured the ceilings, and painted them. Not a bit of mess left afterwards, no paint drops, no problems. The two houses had different types/​generations of popcorn and both were dealt with appropriately. One house had very difficult to remove ‘blown cement’ popcorn which took lots of water to soften enough to remove. They handled it with no hesitation, where two other companies had rejected the job as being too difficult and time consuming. The other house only had popcorn left in four rooms and they accepted the job even though it was not a huge money-​maker for them. One job was in Escondido and one in San Diego — again, no problem.
I would recommend Bell Acoustical to anyone.

I have lived in my condo for 14 years and when I finally decided to have the popcorn ceiling removed, we discovered that the former owners had sprayed ENAMEL paint over the popcorn! This made the popcorn even harder to get off. Bell was able to get the old stuff removed and finish the ceiling with a beautiful smooth paint job! I am so very happy with the results. It’s like a whole different place now. I’m extremely grateful to them.

They were professional, responsive, on time and on budget. They were great to work with, and the result is top notch. I love the light skip trowel finish, as it adds interest without being overwhelming. They transformed the look of my home, were careful and respectful of my furnishings and even vacuumed before they left. I was happy with the price, and even happier with the process and result. Very, very pleased. You only do this project once, so I am happy that I went with Bell and had it done right.

I am extremely happy with the quality of the work and everyone I dealt with.
Brian came and gave me a estimate based on my requirements. They arrived on time, took great care to prep the house with plastic, removed the popcorn and completed the skip trowel, then they put everything back and cleaned up. I had been told how messy this process is, and that was not the case. The next day the ceiling was left to dry and all I needed to do was a little extra dusting. I was amazed at how neat this was accomplished. They came back to paint a color I requested, preped the house again and when they left my ceiling looked beautiful and the house was in perfect order. The guys were very polite and the company is easy to do business with.

We hired Bell to do a smooth skip trowel on our living room walls, remove popcorn from the ceilings and paint the whole house.
A crew came in to do the popcorn and the skip trowel. Then the other crew which came in to paint the house said that not only was the price very low for the kind of work involved but they were also not equipped to take up that kind of work. They demanded 50% more than the quoted contract price and agreed to get external help to complete the project. I had to show them the door and they were more than happy to be relieved from the situation. I was scheduled to move into the house in the next 5 days and here I was left stranded in the middle of a project. So far I’d only heard about nightmarish contractor stories, and this time I lived through one. The Bells had no sense of remorse or guilt. They were in breach of contract and they couldn’t give a damn. If I had the time, I would have taken them to the small claims court.
This company is run by an elderly couple Jim and Gale. Jim came over to give me an estimate for the project. He examined the whole house, took measurements and gave me a estimate on a printed form. Jim was very friendly and seemed to be a good man. I had received higher and lower bids from other contractors but I decided to go with Bell because their estimate was mid ranged and they have a good reputation in the market.
At first their skip trowel job looked decent. They assured us that once the walls dry up, the job will look better and the imperfections won’t be so obvious. WRONG!!! The walls dried up and the imperfections were blaring. Not only that, they had missed out not two, not three but several spots near the door, behind the window shutters, in the kitchen. It was a disaster. They had also removed all the switch plates, vents, light fixtures and the painting crew was supposed to be putting them back up but that never happened. I had to pay through my nose to get all of that done.
The one thing that made me nervous from the get go was the way Jim had drawn up the contract. It was a printed form which said $$$ paint whole house. It didn’t mention whether they would prime the walls, how many coats of paint would they apply, what was the quality of paint they would use, would they paint different rooms in different colors. When I called Gale to get clarifications she only got irritated.
I guess Bell Acoustical’s primary expertise is to remove popcorn from ceilings. They want to venture into doing bigger projects and I was the guinea pig. When I asked Jim about his experience in doing projects like mine, he assured me that his company had 30 some years of experience and they’ve never had dissatisfied customers. So that was a blatant misrepresentation right there. They screwed up big time with me but did not have the courtesy to make good their mistake or in the least apologize or admit to their mistake. Gale is a tough cookie and the only thing she said to me repeatedly was, «I’m doing business for profits and I have made no profit on this job.» Anyone who claims to be a professional should honor their contract in the least. All she thought about was her profits and nothing about the company’s reputation or how she left me in a lurch.
I’m a first time homeowner and dealing with the Bells was one of the most unpleasant experiences of my life. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone.

I am extremely happy with the work done by Bell Acoustical Removal. I wanted to get rid of the ugly popcorn on the ceilings of my 1993 condo. I checked around and found that Bell offered the best price. I set a date, but then had to reschedule because of unexpected out of town guests. I was easily accomodated with new dates with no hassle. The first crew did the scaping and patching, and the second crew did the painting two days later. The crews showed up on time, did a great job, and cleaned up after themselves. I didn’t have to move all my big furniture; they were able to work around it. I gave them my house keys, went to work, and came home to wonderfully smooth ceilings. I highly recommend this company!
