Cheap Rent A Car

Everything is pricier in Hawaii, that is apparent. I’ve heard some people were able to get rental cars for $ 30-​$ 50/​day, which was outstanding but couldn’t find this so Cheap Rent A Car was the next reasonable option which I was quoted found for «$ 75/​day». Here are my thoughts:
Pros:
–It is affordable compared to bigger car rental companies that charge $ 100/​day+.
–They have a lenient car return policy which is «return by 10:00 AM the next day». For example, if you paid for 2 days of rental for Dec 18 – 19, you could return it by 10:00 AM on Dec 20.
–The car is given to you with a full tank of gas.
Cons:
–I spoke to the associate on the phone [which I will not mention his name to maintain class], and he told me that it was going to be «$ 75.00 out the door for the 2 days» that I needed the rental. When I got there, he charges me $ 150.00, and told me that it was $ 75.00 a day. I called him out on that but I just accepted this since it was still affordable.
–I requested for an economic car [as it was only 2 people total on my trip] but I got a mid sized mini-​van instead. I understand that there was limited availability «due to the holidays» but at least notify me before you give me a car that I didn’t request. I ended up accepting whatever he had because I didn’t want to waste anymore time with petty things.
–I don’t think they maintain the cars as much as they should which is extremely risky in a business like this. Hawaii rains ALOT and I got into so many near accidents because the windshield wipers were not maintained. There was another 1 star review about car maintenance [failure to maintain battery] so I hope this business is reading this before they come across a lawsuit from somebody [be safe than sorry].
–When I returned the car and notified him about the problem, all he did was take the windshield wipers off. He didn’t acknowledge the fact that I drove in the rain with a blurry windshield, and came across so many near accidents due to the low visibility [in which I didn’t want to explain to him because he probably wouldn’t catch the drift anyway]. So blessed to have ²⁰⁄₂₀ vision and be able to see everything with some clarity though LOL.
Tips:
–Read their policies. They will charge extra fees if the car is returned late, if the car has excessive sand/​dirt inside/​outside the car, etc. This is reasonable.
Conclusion: This shop is good on price but they need to maintain their cars better and have better communication skills because I went through a whirlwind on 3 – 4 occasions with them.

Richard is always willing to accommodate. Have sent him many Military while they are waiting for their POV’s. Prices are better than just competitive.

I’ve come to rent a car from Richard a few times now and they are always very helpful and work fast to have a nice cleaned up car ready! Nice local spot, great prices and good service.

This place sucks! We rent a car here for a day and drove it for only like an hour and the battery died. It was soo scary. The people working here are so rude too. When we took the car back to them, the first thing they said to us was, «what did you do?» And we were like… We didn’t do anything. Seriously, this place sucks

Needed a rental, last minute, because my car was down and in the shop. Got referred to Richard. Came in right around their closing time and they still were very accommodating!
Great price and paperwork was done swiftly! I got to drive around an awesome Hyundai sedan; ran smoothly and was a clean car.
I would definitely rent from them again and I highly recommend them.

Under $ 800 for a rental car that I had for 40 days. The car was a bit beat up from the out side with a couple dings on it but she ran fine. It’s wasn’t a looker but she never left me stranded & the price was very right for Honolulu. The customer service was very nice. The guy who helped us out was friendly & helpful.
The only annoying thing about them is that you have to pay for the whole time upfront (that’s no big deal) but if you return the car earlier than you rented it for, you do not get a refund. So plan in advance.

It’s first come first srrved. You wanna rent from here DON’T RESERVE. Just be there when they open @ 8 am Or cheap cars run out. Left $ 400 deposit (was paying with DEBIT CARD). Also I was UNDER 25 yrs old. Total for 2 days w/​o insurance came to be $ 83 for an economy car (92k miles), so 1 day would be something like $ 41. Now, the car. It was clean from inside, the there was a hole in my driver seat. Outside of car had couple scratches n dents, and few minor wears. Everything was noted in the vehicle inspection. Guy was nice enough ti make everything quick. From coming in to driving the car, took me like 20 min. Honesty. This places is the cheapest around n they’re nice. And this’s coming from a guy who rented cars from many different companies. I would definitely rent from them again :).
One last thing when I returned the car, I cleaned it a bit. They charge 10 $ for dirty interior and/​or exterior

You can’t beat the deals at this rental company. With insurance included, the total cost for renting an economy car for three days was only $ 155. The gentleman at the desk took time to explain all the details pretty well. It was a quick and easy transaction; perfect for a short stay on the island.

This is the place you go when all other car rental companies have been booked. Prepare to pay $ 60/​day for an old dodge neon beater car with 90+k miles on it.
