Alexander Schmidt (called «Kirk» by some other Reviewers) is an amazing masseur!
I injured my back and was laid out for a couple days – then laid on my desk at work just to survive the workday. Went to a chiropractor daily M-​Th and Alexander every Sat. Massages with Alexander made a big difference! The last time I hurt my back like this, I was in pain for nearly three months! This time, five weeks and I was functioning again.
Alexander would do a sports massage (and a couple other techniques) on my back and the rest of my body. Good pacing so nothing felt rushed. Sensitive to if the pressure was too much/​little or if he hit a nerve. Very thoughtful of my injury, so gave me a couple exercises to do at home that helped a lot throughout the week.
The spa itself is on the upper level of an older house (more parking in back). Pleasant room in regards to noise, temp, and light. Alexander was always respectful of me, a female client. Cost: on par with other masseurs that range from $ 60-​$ 90/​hr.
I wish Alexander was closer (I live in N Carrollton) but he is worth a field trip. If you’ve only done «discount”/strip mall massages before, or if you are looking for a quality therapeutic masseur, I cannot recommend Alexander higher!

I’m a guy and didn’t think a massage was necessary or that it would be worth the price.
Well I was wrong… it was awesome! Kirk has a sports massage background and that worked great for me… being a former athlete. The place was under renovation, but I go for the massage… not the ambiance. Very good!!!

I recently had a massage and facial at the spa and it was excellent! Carly gave me the most wonderful facial I have ever had. I never fall asleep during treatments and I kept drifting off. It was great! My massage was pretty good too! The spa itself is amazing! I loved the ambiance. I will defiantly return for more services. They also had art work from a local artist here in Dallas, which I have seen before but cannot remember where… Beautiful work!

They were both so wonderful! I melted on the table and was so relaxed. I am very tight in my shoulders and Kirk worked out all the kinks. My facial was equally great and restful. I feel asleep as Carly was putting my facial mask on.
My mom and I went here for a treat and it was worth every penny! I think this may become a monthly ritual!

In January 2012 I visited Remedy Spa after purchasing a voucher online for a massage and facial. First impression was that scheduling was challenging. This is a small spa in an old home near Ross and Fitzhugh (not sure what neighborhood that is considered, maybe old East Dallas) and there was never anyone available to answer the phone, it appears that only the owner/​staff who are scheduled to provide services are there, and unless you happen to catch them in the few minutes they may have between services, you have to leave a message and let them call you back. I can appreciate that this is a small business and it might not be cost effective for them to have someone on staff to schedule appointments. In that case it would have been nice if there was a way to schedule the appointment via their website to avoid the back and forth of phone tag. Seems like you would want it to be easy for your clients to schedule an appointment.
Second impression was of the spa itself. It is located in an old house — I’m an «old house person» btw so I appreciated the facility itself — and the décor is definitely keeping with the Zen environment that you would expect from a spa. Unfortunately, old houses have issues that you need to consider, like draftiness, and pest control. It was January, and the house was noticeably chilly. The aesthetician turned on a space heater in her treatment room without me even asking (thank goodness) but the massage therapist did not even offer, I had to ask her to turn on the space heater that she had located only because the previous client exited the treatment room complaining that she was cold. The robes they provide are not of the quality I expect from a spa, they were thin and stretched out and mis-​matched, definitely not enough to keep you warm between your services. The slippers were thin terry cloth, stretched out and floppy, nearly impossible to keep on your feet. They provided lovely baskets to hold your personal belongings once you disrobe, and they transfer the basked from room to room as you proceed through your services. This is a very nice touch, but I wish they had invested the money they spent on the baskets in better robes. The house and outdoor space are nicely styled, but then there was some homemade outdoor decoration made from clear plastic solo cups and a string of Christmas lights hanging on the porch and it seemed oddly out of place. There are resident cats that hang around on the front and side porch, and being a cat lover I enjoyed that, although it would have been nice if they hadn’t set out opened cans of cat food for the clients to walk by as they enter and exit. Sorry, but canned cat food isn’t the fragrance you’re looking for at a spa. These are all relatively minor issues, but each made an impression, topped off most disturbingly by the fact that there is a single bathroom on the lower floor (with no indication of an alternate bathroom) and while using the facility I was greeted by a 2-​inch long cockroach, which was crawling around on the floor both between my services and after my services were completed. During that time, someone had come in to pick up soiled hand towels, so someone from the spa had been in the bathroom during that time, but had either not noticed, or simply left the bug there. Yuck.
I received a facial and a massage, and I will say that my facial was a very enjoyable experience, I believe Cassandra was the aesthetician’s name, and I would recommend her enthusiastically. I have been getting facials regularly for around 15 years, so I have quite a broad basis for comparison. I found her technique to be very good, and her demeanor was calming and soothing. Definitely the highlight of my visit. The massage therapist did not introduce herself, although she was sweet and friendly. I got the impression she was young and relatively inexperienced because her smock said «ATI Career Training.» It was not a bad massage, and not a great massage, it was just pretty average. With a little mentoring, she has the potential to be very good.
One final note: I make a concerted effort to patronize small, locally-​owned businesses, and despite not having a great first impression, I do plan to visit this spa again. I think they’re on the right track, but they have some room for improvement. I did feel like I needed to provide some feedback, specifically about the cockroach, because you can’t expect to see improvement if you don’t let them know something’s wrong. Unfortunately there is no email address provided on their website anywhere that I could find, and I didn’t really want to have that uncomfortable conversation on the phone, especially anticipating the phone tag that would likely occur before I could get someone in person. I think a little attention to the website would enhance their clients’ accessibility and overall experience. After my next visit I will post a follow-​up review and hope to sing their praises.

This is the best spa in Dallas! Kirk is awesome. I have never had a massage as therapeutic and relaxing as what Kirk can do with his hands. I have been to most of the hotel spas in Dallas, but The Remedy Spa is home for me now.
When you walk in Kirk greets you with a big hug, you take off your shoes and you feel as if you are at home from then on. Whatever your pleasure is you will receive it and more at this spa. The garden and the wrap around porch are so inviting that Kirk had to come looking for me in between my sessions. After I finished, I sat on the porch for an hour and read. This is a hidden oasis in the Historic District of Dallas.
I invited my daughter and eight of my girlfriends to spend the day at the spa. We had a great time. We kept Kirk so busy that we greeted his customers and helped to make them feel as at home as we did.
Whether you get a LivingSocial or Groupon deal, this is well worth it at the regular price. You will not be disappointed.

I went here for a massage, originally schedule a 60 min but bumped it up to 90 min since he had time. I really like a male masseur and Rick is awesome. He gave me the grand tour and you can tell he loves the place. I got a discount for the first time visitor and he gives a mean massage. I left there feeling amazing and went home for that blissful post massage nappy!
The garden is very tranquil and its nice to sit outside before the massage. Parking is on the street and you have to make an appt ahead of time, but its worth it.

This place is awesome. The ambiance is amazing, and its really relaxed. The owner is really caring too. A few days before my appointment, my A/​C went out. This was during the week that it was 108 outside, so he checked my fuses for me just to see if he could do something to help. He couldn’t figure it out, so he looked up as much info as possible on the net while I was in my appointment. I didn’t expect him to do anything with my car, but I thought it was so caring and kind that he would even bother. I originally went there, because my favorite eyebrow lady works there. Cassandra is the best eyebrow lady I’ve ever had, and I’ve had plenty (Im 37). I wont let anyone else touch them but her. She makes me look so great, Im so thankful for her. Also, another tidbit, one of my friends is an estitician and she read the labels on the products they use for facials… She said they use excellent products with really good ingredients. If I ever get a facial, Ill try theirs. I want to make sure I go where I can trust my skin to be well cared for.

I first learned of this place via Dealon when they had a massage deal. Kirk is awesome! I had some issues with my back and ended up going to him twice in one week. I’d go twice a week every week of my life if I could, he is truly a talented massage therapist!
Next, LivingSocial had a deal for massage and facial. I had my facial yesterday and Carly is AWESOME! She’s sooo sweet and takes wonderful care of you. I was in a total state of relaxation afterwards. Completely fell asleep and was sent to Heaven for an hour! Afterwards, I didn’t want to face the real world yet so lucky for me it was a was a beautiful day so I just sat outside on the porch for almost an hour before I started to come back to the real world and left. No one cared. It’s a very welcoming, relaxing place!
If you missed both of the above deals. don’t hesitate just going! It’s worth every penny!
OK, now, let’s talk about the location. First, I want to say once you enter through the gates off the street you’re transformed into this zen-​like, beautiful garden, chirping birds, relaxation mecca that makes you feel like you’ve left Dallas (Except for the occasional plane you hear above) but the key is… you must step through the gates!
The location is off Ross Ave just a block down from the Sonic. It’s not the best neighborhood and the house is so well hidden with a funky fence that you might wonder if you should step through the gates and keep your appointment but the answer is one gigantic YES! GO AND BE PAMPERED! YOU DESERVE IT!
I promise, you won’t regret it! I can’t wait to go back! I’d go every single week if I could!

This is a jewel of a place in East Dallas, with amazing gardens and utterly cool zen atmosphere. It’s located in a beautiful house and has a welcoming warm atmosphere. It’s not just a spa, although the services are primo, but a relaxing calming destination. You can take yoga and tai chi classes, get a massage, have a treatment or have tea on the gorgeous veranda and just watch the world pass by.

WOW! Remedy Spa Dallas is a hidden treasure in the middle of downtown Dallas. BEAUTIFUL, relaxing atmosphere! Loved the wrap-​around porch and manicured landscaping. I took my mother here for a treat and we both agreed that Kirk gave us the best massages we have ever had!
