Vis a Vis Salon & Day Spa

Melanie did a great job on my manicure. Be prepared to sit at the mani station a bit longer than other experiences as they do not use electric powered nail tools. This actually does your nails a favor as the powered nail tools can be harsh on your nails. While their manis are wonderful and protect and strengthen your nails, the process takes a bit longer. All in all, I had a great experience. I will return again.

I enjoyed the vis a vis pedicure so much! Jessica is so sweet and did a great job. She gave me tips too and was professional. The desk staff honored a Unilocal deal. Parking was hit or miss, as it is in a prime uptown location

Melanie gave me an excellent manicure and pedicure. My nails looked great! My husband tried the saltwater Pod relaxation device and he said it was awesome and helped him relax. The massage by Matt was also great. Overall this spa provides excellent service and free wine & beer and I love the vibe and the music, too! Very well-​decorated and Very nice chill people who work there. Great location in uptown and I like how it’s small and not overcrowded.

Love this place! After unfortunate disappointments with salons I finally found a place that I am extremely happy with. The staff is friendly and the place itself has a very welcoming ambiance.

Someone gave me a gift card to this spa for my birthday, so I decided to splurge for the Star Down Facial because I was intrigued by the products mentioned for the facial and the winter weather has really made my skin take a turn for the worse. I admit I’m not an expert on facials, and I know they can be hit or miss, but I was not exactly pleased with this experience because my aesthetician was clearly inexperienced and I’m pretty certain she’d never performed this facial before. During the hour she was reading how to do it off of a cue card. She was very friendly, but basic things like telling me about the products in each step of the facial, or doing the massages that were supposed to be the relaxing part of the experience were a miss (at one point during the heated rock massage she doodled on my forehead with the rocks and asked if I had had that done before… ah, no). I do believe the salon is using quality products because my face did look great and I was pleased with the results, but I don’t think the price point of this facial was worth the treatment that I received. I have received similar results for a ¹⁄₃ of the price. Maybe if you just want to stop in here for a quick microdermabrasian treatment that would be a great selection for this location.

My husband and I booked appointments here for a couples massage that we purchased on Groupon (2 for $ 100, 60-​minutes). We arrived and were kindly greeted and they asked us if we would like complimentary wine. They had many options which was an added bonus. I got a gel manicure which I was very happy with and my husband had a pedicure. After that we had our massage. It was SO relaxing! They did an excellent job. Overall, they were friendly, accommodating, and professional. Only con would be that there is just 1 pedicure chair. We’d go back!

How did I get soooo lucky to get the famed Charlotte on my first vist??? She was absolutely amazing :) I will be back to see her again. I just had eight years of stress, the most hateful of divorces, running a biz for 10 years by myself and raising two teenage girls just massaged away :) Feeling blissful!

From when I walked in to the moment I left, I liked the staff and the store, itself.
I went in for a massage for my sore back after a workout and Brenda took very good care of me. I felt she did a great job and I left feeling feeling way better the rest of the day.

I’ve been to many expensive spa places and what usually happens is you are likely to get great masseur/​masseuse there but the front desk personnels are usually pretentious, rude, and pushy for selling their products/​services. With this place I can’t give any less than a 5 star because of the total pleasantness of my experience. I was greeted by the gentlemen whom I later learned was the co-​owner. Then I was offered complimentary wine and a bottle of water. Shortly after my masseuse came out to greet me and there began my massage, and an hour later my facial with a different lady. I feel very much relaxed after spending an hour and half in this place and I appreciate the owner tried to help when I forgot to put the parking ticket on my car and luckily, my car was not towed!
So here is my experience with Vis-​a-​Vis. I would definitely visit again and recommend to others who are interested in massage and facials.

NEGATIVE STARS
It’s experiences like the one I had at this salon that make me believe that there is something fishy with their reviews. The salon is nicely set-​up, but it all goes down hill from there.
I purchased a Groupon for a deep tissue massage AND a facial. Believe me, relaxation was MUCH needed after working grueling, 14 hour days at the Texas State Fair, but this experience was more stressful than it was relaxing
Upon arrival I was offered warm white wine. Yuck!
After extensive paperwork, my effeminate male massage therapist introduced himself. He got an attitude with me when I indicated on the initial paperwork that I did not want to have my hands, head, or feet touched. He demanded that I give him an explanation as to why I did not want to have my head touched. Umm, what difference does it make? Seriously!
During the massage, the pressure was not firm enough. When I told the therapist so, he said, «Um, actually, it IS helping you!» Okay, so you want to argue with me about what does and does not feel therapeutic? I ended the massage shortly thereafter.
When I walked back to the front desk, the manager said that he’d unredeemed my Groupon. He didn’t even ask about whether or not I might still want to have a facial.
Long story short: They do NOT have their act together. I can’t imagine where these other people went to create such rave reviews.
Never. Ever. Again. Spend your hard-​earned money elsewhere.

This place is nice, but definitely not a nail salon. They have 1 chair for a pedicure and 1 spot for a manicure. It’s not the experience you expect from a typical nail salon. Seems like they specialize in lots of other services, which is great, but I would never recommend someone to come here for a mani/​pedi. Plus the price for a «regular» pedicure was $ 35 — way overpriced. Very un-​impressed with this place. Save your money!

I had a wonderful experience with this spa! I went in to get a gel manicure and the nail technician was lovely, took her time, and did a fantastic job! Will definitely be going back. Absolutely worth a try!

My wife and I had a great massage at Vis-​a-​vis. We had bought a couple of coupons from Groupon and they were able to accommodate us for a couples massage. Brenda, my masseuse, ensured that I got the kind of massage I had requested for, high pressure. My wife enjoyed her massage from Jaime. Overall it was a great experience with warm, friendly and prompt service. We would definitely recommend Vis a Vis for the quality of the massage and for the friendly and helpful nature of Nina at the front desk.

This is an update to my original post now that some time has past…
I purchased the Unilocal deal online which was a treat. The prices here are not bad to begin with, but its always a bonus when you save a little money regardless. Our entire experience was wonderful and it was a great relaxing time. I got the basic mani-​pedi. It was the tech’s first time or so doing the mani’s and I thought she did OK for beginning, our pedi was fantastic. The reason I gave it three stars is it was really disappointing that my manicure barely made it 1 week without chipping/​fading and breaking off. Pedi is still going strong. I would probably come back here and try it again, but wouldn’t upgrade my purchase given that the manicure really didn’t last too long.

This spa is quite AMAZING!
The front entrance is majestic, and the space is filled with beautiful art deco.
Best part was the service!!! wow… got a Mani/​Pedi — ahhhhh. what a customized experience. It felt like the ultimate pampering experience.

I came with an offer for a Sweedish massage and Paige was the one that took care of me. She made sure I left extremely relaxed and she pampered me super well. Wine + Massage… This is definitely one of my favorite places now.

Bought a massage/​facial package off of Groupon for my girlfriend and took her there as a surprise. The place is in a super nice part of Uptown and the interior is decorated beautifully. The bathroom even has a french bidet, fancy!
The spa is owned by a wonderful brother and sister combo, and they are so gracious and welcoming once you arrive. Free wine and WiFi, and a pleasant and soothing atmosphere shielded from the hustle and bustle of Uptown.
The girlfriend absolutely loved her massage and facial and couldn’t have been more pleased. Will definitely be returning! Give this place a try and you will be happy!
