I sent a detailed communication through their website Sunday evening –which they recommend over their «we’re unavailable right now» phone message-​, and then followed up with a phone call on Tuesday and no one has attempted to get back in touch with me. I checked junk mail, etc. At least a message on my voice mail, or an email, in response to say they are too busy or can’t service my area would be appreciated over nothing.

We hired James Hudson and RIS Austin to remodel our new office last month. As a nerdy marketing company, we don’t have a lot of experience when it comes to contracting and wall demolitions, but James did a great job of explaining to us the process, pricing it fairly and doing the job pretty quickly. After looking at the current specs of the office, and seeing some plans written up by us on what we wanted (removing 8 walls, refinishing remaining walls, painting and electrical work), he came up with a timeline and got to work pretty quickly.
We’re very happy with the work, it was done promptly and done very well. I highly recommend them for work both small and large.

I’ve worked with James Hudson and his crew on a number of projects and can highly recommend him. He can do everything from a small sky light installation to a major remodel. You can be comfortable working with him because not only is he an experienced contractor, he is also a licensed home inspector.

I was helping my sister purchase my first home and as expected, it was a stressful experience in this crazy Austin market (the stories of houses selling 2 days after listing are so true).
My sister finally found a house that she loved and immediately put down an offer for it. The bid was accepted, and we had about a week to inspect the home before moving forward with the process. With this kind of urgency, we needed someone that could haul ass on the inspection before making a final decision.
James was recommended by a friend and he came out within 2 days to the house to inspect it. When he was finished, we were presented with a thorough report of every minor detail of the house. With this information, we were confident this house wasn’t a moneypit disaster waiting to happen.
I highly recommend James and his company. He also does handyman work, but he is legally do the handyman repairs until a year after the completion of the inspection (conflict of interest laws). I respect his integrity and the work ethic, I would recommend his company to anyone!

We’re getting ready to put our house on the market and our real estate agent recommended James (RIS). We recently hired him to paint the exterior of our house as well as minor repair work on the exterior. When the work was done, we saw one problem but when he came out to look at it, he saw many more things he wanted done over. He does a walk-​through on his own, and then does one with the client. He is meticulous and expects the work to be done right. He has returned all our phone calls and texts promptly, and come to the house asap when needed. Because he’s also a home inspector he knows what to look for when repairs need to be done. He’s professional and personable at the same time, and charges reasonable rates.

Tried twice now to give this company my business, which would have been a decent sized job and some long term/​standing work (and even said as much in my messages). Left messages over a period of several days and indicated I was flexible with scheduling. Last effort to reach them was 5 days ago. Left two contact numbers for them to reach me. Never got a call back.

I’ve had James at RIS out twice for various handyman tasks, including replacing ceiling fans, door hardware, caulking bathrooms, and replacing wall outlets. All that homeowner stuff that tends to pile up while I get busy with other things that make louder demands.
James (the business owner and a military veteran) is punctual, very knowledgeable, honest, and charges reasonable hourly rates. He gave me advice as necessary on what products to get, where to get them, and how to prepare for each appointment to make the job go as efficiently as possible. When a job was beyond his scope of expertise, he let me know and offered to give me a referral to someone who could do it. Everything he did looks great!
RIS also does bigger remodeling jobs for kitchens and baths, and home inspections in addition to handyman work. They’re a small local company, so you have to be patient enough to wait a week or so to get on their schedule. Personally, I would much rather wait for quality from a reliable local business than go with a bigger company and get the corporate runaround.
So call me a regular: I’ve already scheduled my third appointment. I could definitely get used to having everything at my house working right.

We just moved to an older home in Cedar Park, and there were several repairs that needed to be done. We have been extremely pleased with the services provided by Residential Improvement Services! These guys are great! Not only did they make all the repairs we requested, but also they provided help and advice that saved us money in several areas! We would happily recommend Residential Improvement Services to anyone who needs work done by a reliable contractor who keeps promises and does excellent work at an excellent cost!

i don’t normally write reviews. But i went with this James dude and everything works as he described. We’ve got problems with our old bathroom but now it’s brand new. I can honestly recommend him because of his work ethic.

Prompt, efficient, affordable, quality work. James came highly recommended and he did not disappoint. From removing a 2 story climbing wall to hanging a mirror with precision, he can do it all.

Seriously, James is that dude. My father is into real estate and is often refurnishing/​repairing houses in order to resell. James has helped us with multiple houses throughout the Anderson Mill area whether it be painting or plumbing. Punctual and affordable. What else can you ask for? Our family will definitely be repeat customers.

We moved to a new home in August, and I hired James for several tasks around the house. He helped with painting a room, mounting large mirrors and pictures, fixing a toilet, and repairing some damaged drywall.
He was able to schedule us quickly and got the job done equally fast. Price was good and everything looked great!

These guys were recommended to me by a friend. They were up front about everything and estimates were spot on. I remodeled my entire kitchen from new cabinets, to granite countertops, to putting on a nice backsplash on the wall. They kept me in the loop during the entire process and I knew exactly what was being done and how it was being done. They also worked around my schedule, as I’m in and out of my home a lot. Great experience, period. I’ll be calling them again when I’m ready to get my bathroom’s remodeled!

My friend referred me and I put full trust on my friend since he said RIS is great service. Or else I’d make him pay for the job… But I was very pleased and happy with the paint job that I asked to be done in my bedroom and bathroom, as well as changing out the lights. Quality and time was perfection! I’m very pleased and would definitely refer to others! Great job! Much appreciated! You won’t be let down!!!

I’m surprised no one has reviewed James’ business yet, he’s probably one of the best handymen in town! I needed some help putting new furniture together for college and there was random crap around the house that needed to be fixed and had been neglected for a while. Didn’t help that mom was nagging the hell out of me either. I asked around for help and I found James. He’s a really cool guy and the thing I liked most about him was that he always picked up the phone whenever I called. He ended doing a fantastic job and charged less than what I expected, which is always a good thing to hear as a poor college student!
