I really don’t understand the high reviews for this place. I decided to get lunch and a local told me to go to Bebos. I now have the worst headache after dining here. The place was about half full and I understand when people said there was a cafeteria feel. My server approached me and was extremely nice, hence the 2 stars. I had the tostones stuffed with crab. The tostones were very mushy and my plate was wet with sauce. I guess that’s what caused the tostones to be so mushy. I also ordered beans and rice and the avocado stuffed with crab, which I thought would be different flavors. Not! It was the exact same crab meat. The crab tasted as if I were pouring salt from the shaker directly on my tongue. The cause of my headache and I’m sure I have high blood pressure now. The avocado, which was just an avocado split in half, saved my life. I emptied the crab and just ate the avocado. The beans and rice were meh! I’ve had much better. My red sangria had mushy fruit and was flavorless. Needless to say, I won’t be back

The meal I had was good. It was mofongo with Shredded beef. Flavors and consistency totally on the good side. Not dried. It comes with a shitty salad that may had been dressed with vinegar and oil. It was all on the same plate, and I will not touch a salad that is touching hot food, so I pushed it aside. The service is a little aloof. She cleared my plate, did not ask if I needed the check(I did), or offer anything. Just left… I had to hail her down to get the check! The place is quite big and it has valet parking. It is on Loiza so parking is next to hellish… Crazy packed with cars parked every which way, and what direction they face is irrelevant(apparently, in PR, you can do whatever you feel with your vehicle, park it facing against traffic, put tires on sidewalk, let the bumper hang out the corner) They have fully stocked bar.

I was so looking forward to go eat at this place… Do to all the hype! But like the songs says«don’t believe the hype» A big disappointment, starting with the waitress, wanting to rush & take our order! Not even pleasant! We explained to her that it was our 1st time visiting, & wanted to make small talk about the dishes, but she was blank… insisted that the peril would be dry! Not to order it! We order chicken from the oven & she gave us grill chicken that was dry! We ordered maduroes, which never came with the order but was tacked onto the bill, glad I double checked the bill! Other than that. wished it was better! Two Stars one for the Pernil! The other for the mofongo!

This place is classic Puerto Rican pit BBQ. I am vegetarian so I get my meat reviews from my partner. He said the pork was decadent. I ate the rice and beans and found them to be flavorful but not too heavy. I like when they don’t have too many beans just lightly mixed with Spanish rice. Yummy :) Meat eater partner also tried the blood sausage and he said it was perfectly cooked and tasteful. The sausage was lightly covered with rice. If you visit San Juan stop here and it is worth the wait in line.(there is always a long cafeteria style que)

Great food, cheap price! I loved this place! Being Cuban it’s hard to find a restaurant that does a good ropa vieja. After reading the other reviews I thought I’d give it a try and man it did not disappoint! The ropa vieja was the best I’ve had at ANY restaurant! I also have the black beans and rice and amarillos. The sangria was super delicious too and my husband had one of their fruit shakes made with real fruit! The mango one at least… The service was a bit slow but no more than anywhere else in pr. The prices were great though!

Really good café with huge menu. We walked from our hotel. We shared the crab stuffed yuca for appetizer. Yum. Husband and I both had the chicken stuffed with Spanish sausage, plantains, and cheese sauce. It was pretty amazing. I had sweet plantains as a side, husband had fried plantains. Both were great. get the sweet. Yum. We also split ½ pitcher of sangria and it was delicious for $ 12. A great find.

Bebo’s was great! My boyfriend and I went to eat there on our first night in Puerto Rico. The décor isn’t anything fancy but you feel very at home when you walk in. They play great music and we even witnessed a live presentation during dinner. As an appetizer, we ordered the tostones with the crab meat and it was very good. We both ordered the seafood mofongo and it was hands down one of the best I have ever had. The platano melted as you cut into it. The service was a little slow but that didn’t affect us at all. We will definitely be back!

Enjoyed the food here very much. It is in great walking distance from the hotel we stayed at and not really far from the beach in general. Menu had various options but I was told they had great mofongo and I wanted to try it. The chicken mofongo was good coupled with some medalla beer really hit the spot. I was pretty stuffed afterwards. Server was very nice and the place was clean. Great inexpensive spot I’ll be going to again.

Less a restaurant than a cafeteria, Bebo’s serves local food to what seems mostly like locals. Simple, inexpensive, popular, and good for groups. We liked all we had, though both our mains – a chicken mofongo and fish-stuffed plantain – were too salty by a ways. Both Nicole C.‘s review( ) and Renje G.‘s review( ) sum Bebo’s up nicely.

Of all the times I have been to SanJuan I have yet to eat a decent meal– seems like most of the food on this island is stale old and in desperate need of refrigeration! Bebo s is no exception. If I did not have business here, it would certainly not be on my vacation list. The mofongo with pork was totally inedible– all dried out– I used half a carafe of vegetable oil to moisten the plantains– the pork chunks were a lost cause– my fork could not penetrate the dried out crusted exterior of the chunks of meat– which was tougher than jerkey. Plus service was rude and was proficient at ignoring my attempts to get some. Not understanding the Unilocalers giving this place 5 stars– must have had some alcohol before approaching the chow!

I don’t give out 5 star’s often, however this restaurant deserves it! I was so pleased with the flavors of the food ordered. I had soup, pernil, cuban sandwich, media noche, mofongo, breaded steak, and all was great! The service is very slow, they seem to be very busy all the time. I do not recommend the empanadas or mixed drinks, not worth it.

Great local diner with all fantastic Puerto Rican food! I had the avocado stuffed with crab(ho-lee it was the biggest avocado that I have ever seen!!) My friend had the crab soup. The crab in the avocado was basically the same flavors as the crab in the soup, which was delicious! We also had the white sangria which did not taste like there was any alcohol in it at all, but of course it did! This place is always hopping, and always full of locals. Great place to eat in or take out.

Wow, all the food is bomb here. We had the ropa vieja, a few of the daily special dishes, and most memorably, the bucket of Medallas! Our family’s stop at Bebo’s was particularly delightful because during the holidays, many of the restaurants recommended to us were all closed. I also generally have low expectations of Latino food(except Mexican and Cuban), and while Puerto Rican food is nothing like Mexican food, maybe closer to Cuban, I was really floored by the complexity and diversity in flavors. I would say Bebo’s was a great and affordable introduction to Puerto Rican cuisine and I would recommend anyone staying in Condado to make it here!

Great place to get drunk! We ordered 2 traditional, 1 strawberry, and 1 mango mojito. The traditional mojitos were absolutely fantastic and a great value. The strawberry and mango were both gross. They were both so slimy and very hard to drink. Please stick to traditional. We ordered shrimp fried rice and Caribbean Jerk Mofongo. The shrimp fried rice was fantastic but the mofongo was bad. I read the reviews about the mofongo so I was so excited. I should have stuck with the mofongo everyone recommended. It tasted like a sloppy Joe on flavorless mash potatoes. The 3 star rating is because by the time we got our food I was already drunk as a skunk. So booYAH to that. Our service was also top notch. Stick to traditional when here!!! Food and drink wise! Street parking is hit or miss. We definitely got lucky.

Great dining experience. Unlike other reviewers, we had very prompt service and the timing on food was perfect… I actually used my watch after reading all the complaints. Mojitos within 2 minutes, appetizer(empenadas) within 5 minutes, and our dinner 15 minutes later. I ordered the chicken mofongo. I had never tried this local dish before, and i could see why it’s a favorite. My only gripe, and this was more laughable than anything, my boyfriend ordered the«deep fried chicken» and i don’t know if there was a language barrier or what, but he got a charbroiled chicken breast. He enjoyed it, but I felt bad he was eating diet food lol. I think he thought he was going to get some Popeyes original recipe or something. As far as taste goes, no complaints. I loved the empenadas. They were prefect. The mofongo had very tender chicken and was quite tasty and very filling. And my boyfriend was happy with his diet chicken. This is more of a local joint than a tourist trap, so the prices aren’t outrageous like some of the other restaurants nearby. Would go again.

I visited this place 3 times in one week, it’s that good. The mofongo is delicious although not very crunchy. I had the veggie one and wasn’t too crazy about the veggies but the plantains and sauce were great. Portions are huge! You could probably share your plate but it’s so good, you won’t want to :) Service was really prompt and friendly each time. May be a bit difficult to order if you don’t speak Spanish! Also, tostones de pana. You’re welcome.

My first stop after landing in San Juan. I ordered the chicken mofongo with garlic sauce. The chicken was very dry, but the plantains were good.

Bebo’s seems to be one of the most well known restaurant groups in San Juan with even locals on the street recommending this particular one on Calle Loiza. I could see why! Walking distance from our Condado hotel, the café is a clean, well-lit room with plenty of four-top tables. It seems to run like a well-oiled machine. The menu is fairly easy to follow even though it’s in Spanish. I had my first Puerto Rican Mofongo with Pernil. It came with a huge piece of cracking skin. That was awesome! The sides were just ok but the Pernil was seriously good and worthy of acclaim. They also served a really tasty Red Sangria full of fruit. Yum! Service was brisk. Our waitress wanted my order quickly but I needed menu translation help from my friend. She kept looking to him for my order since he’s half Puerto Rican. I didn’t really mind though. I got exactly what I wanted! Although other Unilocal reviews mention it takes a long time for food to come out, we got ours very fast. Perhaps we were after the lunch crowd. Bebo’s Café is a good restaurant for inexpensive, authentic Puerto Rican food in a place where almost all the patrons are locals. It’s a bit of a walk outside the tourist zone but worth it.

Mofongo de yuca relleno de pulpo a la criolla. Great Puertorrican diner!
