Not much to say here. Just good authentic puerto Rican cuisine. I will definitely stop here on future trips to Puerto Rico l.

Had two awesome dinners while here in PR. Our delicious dinners here began with flattened garlic bread –which I could eat forever. The DonQ mojitos we drank here were some of the best ones we had on the island and they are reasonably priced under $ 7/each. Also had a pitcher of the sangria, very good also — not too sweet and not bitter(just how I like it). The flank steak with the chimichurri sauce is heavenly, tender and tasty to the last bite. You have a choice of red or black beans with rice — it was some of the best I have ever had. I was never that much of fan of rice and beans UNTIL I visited this place. Also tried the fried ½ chicken and it was right on point with juicy, crispy texture with being oily or breaded. LOVEDIT!!! If you haven’t stuffed yourself silly — - try the flan! They also do flan right :) The restaurant is air-conditioned which is a HUGE plus as it is HOT and HUMID as hell. The service is attentive and excellent– our water glasses were always filled. It is clear why this restaurant is a local’s favorite and I need to thank all you Unilocaler’s for some great dinners at fairly reasonable prices. If Metropol wants to open a place out on the west coast, please let me know! I’ll be first in line for my mojitos and dinner!!! Until then, I will be dreaming of a place that makes drinks, steaks with chimichurri sauce, rice and beans and fried chicken so right… drooling here as a type this…

My mom and I came to Metropol for our very first meal on our recent trip to PR. I found Metropol through a Unilocal search and knew we had to try it; super high rating and over 400 reviews– must be amazing! Unfortunately it wasn’t. My mom and I kind of hated our meal. The only part of it we enjoyed was the garlic bread that they served before the meal. I ordered the Montunos Cubano which came with pork, rice, yucca and a tamale. The pork was probably the driest that I have ever had in my life. The rice was bland, the yucca was okay, and I thought the tamale was gross. My mom ordered a similar meal, I forget the name of it, but it had beef too. She didn’t like her meal either. I also ordered a side of plain mofongo. It was awful. It tasted very fishy and was super dry. We were hoping that dessert would make up for our bad meal. It didn’t. We ordered the flan. It was a super tiny serving and was nothing to write home about. On top of all of the bad food, we had incredibley slow service. Our waiter was nowhere to be found for incredibly long periods at a time. For a while I wasn’t sure if we were going to get to pay our bill because he had disappeared again! This was such a disappointing meal :(

I’ve been coming here for YEARS. It hasn’t changed much, except for the counter tops. Tasty, basic Cuban dishes, like puerco asado and arroz pollo, nothing fancy – Nice sides dishes like platanos and black beans – Large portions, especially the mounds of yellow rice that accompany many meals If you’re looking for a PR instituition come here! The food here is delicious and the best Cuban food in the area:)

Good variety of Puerto Rican and Mexican cuisine. Got the stuffed Cornish hen and it tasted very good. The meat was tender and it was stuffed with a beans and rice combo that was delicious. The place had a lot of diners but it wasn’t too crowded which is good. Overall a good experience.

Let me just say this was the first place we stopped at straight from the airport and boy oh boy was it good! I wasnt familiar withall the different types of food but the waiter was there to help. Food is authentic like no other and don’t get me started on my first time experience with Mofongo! Get the shrimp mofongo with Creole sauce you won’t regret it!

We came here for the longstanding name and reputation metropole has had. Unfortunately we were a little disappointed by the grade of the steak. It seemed to be congruent with diaper market meat and there are no vegetables in site. They also were pushing their wine on us and left two bottles on our table although we didn’t want it. Strange sale technique. I was under the impression is was more of an upscale steak house but it was not.

You have to dine here when you are in San Juan. We stayed in Condado, but took a cab over to Isla Verde so we could check out the El San Juan resort & casino. The location is great first of all. It’s right next to the cock fighting place if you are interested in seeing chickens fight to the death. We didn’t go, but the parking lot was packed! We got to dinner at a fairly good time, around 7ish when it was busy. but not packed. When we were finishing dinner around 8:30pm, that’s when all the big tables came in — of tourists and locals alike. The garlic bread they give you to start is delicious, but don’t fill up on it because there is more great food to come. They don’t have tri-fongo listed on the menu, but they do make it! So we ordered a tri-fongo stuffed with seafood. It was so good that I wish we ordered two. Definitely get this over the mofongo, you can thank me later :) The other option we ordered was the Churrasco. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare and the chimichurri that it came with was delicious! This was just the perfect amount of food for the 3 of us because the churrasco came with a side of rice and sweet plantains. We really wanted to save room for dessert. We shared the vanilla flan and the tres leches. Definitely get the vanilla flan! Service is great and prices are great. It was just a short walk to the El San Juan resort & casino after we finished dinner. This is a great restaurant choice because the atmosphere is fun and the food is delicious.

Best meal in PR, seriously; GO!!! –If you are into wine; Ferrari Carrano, the best –I ordered a typical Cuban dish that was out of this world. –They made my kids black beans and rice, along with shredded pork and chicken and they damn near licked their plates clean. Amazing!

Absolutely amazing. The food is great, the service is great, the atmosphere is great. Our waiter was super kind(complimented my mother and sister on their dresses just name a single smaller example of his kindness) and gave us tips on what to eat and how best to enjoy it. Don’t pass this restaurant by!

Our waitress Kristle was great — friendly and enthusiastic. Gave her a great big tip. Hostess was very unhelpful, 15 minute wait became 25 and then 35. Bartender was slow and surly. The many other staff seemed downright unhappy to be there. Cuban medley was very good. Picadillo was good, but(imho) mine is better. Cuban bread with garlic was top notch — could eat it every day.

Not impressed. Snotty hostesses. didn’t appreciate her coughing into my menu. Gross. Negative vibe, not very welcoming place. Now the food. Nothing exciting. Bland. And can’t forget cold. The rice was the best part of the meal. Husband ordered the Fiesta platter. I tried a bit and eh. The tamale was definitely cold. We complained and they offered to warm it up. The fact that it came out that way was just not worth a retry. Microwave it? Pass. I had shrimp. With butter and garlic. With white rice. My mistake. Not impressed and have had so much better than this! Go to Ediths across the street.

This place is a hidden gem in Isla Verde. The Cuban fiesta was great! It had a mix of shredded beef, cube pork, Cuban tamale, roast pork, black beans and rice, and cassava. Price was reasonable for the location.

This was our first stop in Puerto Rico after a very long trip from California. Roy took wonderful care of us. He was super friendly, provided great service and kept the delicious food and drinks coming! The ceviche is a must try. The mojitos will help set you on the perfect path too. :) Thanks Metropol!

When in another county or city that your not familiar with… Always ask a local where to eat. Locals all highly recommended by saying«Metopol Restaurant and Bar.» They do not take reservations. The restaurant is packed every night and the wait is up to an hour. Tells you how good there food is. Ordered the fresh fried red snapper. I was so surprised when my order came. The fish was a huge whole red snapper. The snapper was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. It comes with a bed of lettuce and lime, which compliments the flavor of the fish. The order comes with a huge side of rice, a big bowl of Cuban black beans and sweet plantains. So good! Everything about this restaurant was great. Our waiter was super helpful in selecting amazing dishes. Big portions, so you can share if you have a big group. I would highly recommend this place for authentic Puerto Rican cuisine that’s not over the top expensive. Great service, amazing local food and good value.

On a recent long weekend trip to PR, where my fiancé, her parents and I stayed at the Waldorf /El Conquistador property in Fajardo, we stopped for an early dinner at Metropol, a great Cuban restaurant. It’s located conveniently right off of state road 194 just east of where it meets state road 3. From the onset I knew we’d at the very least have a great experience when it came to service. Our waiter was quick, friendly, knowledgeable, witty, and knew when to offer his opinion. In fact, he asked my future mother-in-law what she liked in a drink and told her he’d make her something special… and he did with 5 different rums no less! Just great. A great restaurant experience isn’t just about the service,… the food has to be great too! And was it! After enjoying some ham croquettes(not the best I’ve had, but still good) I had the bistec empanizado with white rice and red beans, and yuca… a wonderful Cuban classic. The steak was, thankfully, not as large a serving as I usually get when I visit Cuban restaurants in back home in Miami, but was still a super-large serving. The steak was excellent and the breading wasn’t over-done. I’m a big believer that you can tell how good a Latin restaurant is by how good their rice and beans are. Using that criteria, this place is fabulous! ‘Nough said. The other 3 dishes we enjoyed were 2 mofongo plates and a pasta carbonara. I had a taste of them all and they were all delicious! Each serving was waay too much food for a single person, so sharing might be a good option to explore if you don’t want to take any leftovers to your hotel, or waste any food. If you find yourself in Puerto Rico driving east on the 3, and you’re hungry for great food, stop in and have a seat. Metropol is a wonderful Cuban restaurant and you won’t go wrong! I wish i could give this place 10 stars! I honestly have no words. Just glancing around the restaurant every plate that i saw looked delicious. I decided to order the cuban pepper steak and i have no regrets. Not sure what kind of seasoning they used but it was better than anything i’ve tried before. The one complaint is i had difficulty reading parts of the menu lol but thats what you have Latina friends for :). I’m not sure about other hotels but if you stay at ESJ Towers you’ll receive a 10% off coupon to eat here!

Today marks the second visit to Isla Verde’s Metropol restaurant and bar. Friendly staff meet and greet you at the door and escort you to your table. With the exception of posted times for certain dishes, the meals my party and I have ordered came out in almost under 10 minutes. If your looking for good food, bang for your buck, this is the place to go. There’s lots of parking, and minutes from the SJU international airport and Condado(you’ll need to catch a cab in either case). Portion sizes are pretty substantial, enough for two meals from the one serving! The seasoned rice stuffed Cornish hen was more the size of a small-to-medium chicken and could easily feed two people! While in the San Juan/Isla Verde if you’re tired of the Mofungo(yes, you CAN get to that point if you over do it) and the preverbal tourist traps check out the cuisine at Metropol! A definitely«must go»!
