Good local Puerto Rican food with a nicely varied menu. Roy, our waiter, was knowledgable about the menu & cocktail list and guided us through it. Seafood & vegetable Mofongo delicious. Bang for your buck, not so much. But the food & the service makes up the difference. Lots of activity, the bar area looked tired — ask to sit in the main dinning room.

Love this restaurant. The combination of the Puertorican cuisine with the Cuban cuisine is explosive. The flavors just burst in your mouth on every bite you take. 100% recommendable.

This place is awesome! The staff is great! Especially Roy, I told him it was my husbands birthday when I went to the bathroom & if he could make it a little special. he said no problem & asked me if he liked cheesecake. Roy was very hard working & he took his time when talking to us about the menu & what what dishes was his favorites as he realized we were tourist. I was expecting something small like maybe just a cheesecake with a candle or something simple. Roy & the entire staff came out to sing happy birthday! I was even shocked lol Most places in Chicago where we are from don’t do that anymore, So I was so happy & surprised they did it. They had a mini drumb & even the manager came out to sing. The food was great, the place was clean I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

The food here was incredible and the service was so friendly. I got the grilled mahi mahi and it was cooked to perfection. The garlic Cuban bread was also fantastic.

The people are friendly, lunch specials are reasonable, and the food was delicious. I don’t know too much about cuban food but what I ate was good. The place seemed very popular with the locals and I noticed that there were quite a few people waiting to be seated as I left around 1PM. And because there are serveral of these in PR. I would definitely look them up for lunch.

I came to Metropol at my dad’s recommendation, as he had been multiple times in the 00’s for business. I visited on New Years Day; we were seated instantly and noticed the room was quite full for being 4pm. The menu has a variety of Puerto Rican and Cuban dishes. We were given pressed garlic bread on the table as a starter — we ate it so quickly they brought a second basket before we ordered. We ordered the croquettes as an appetizer and they did not disappoint. My friend had never had croquettes before, and while initially unsure, she was impressed and ready to order more. I ordered the Fiesta Cubana for my entrée, a plate of multiple meats with rice and beans: congri, tamale, pork, cassava, pot roast and shredded beef. I snagged the sweet tender plantains off my friend’s plate — yum! So much flavor and so much delicious food! Pricing for the amount of food you get is very reasonable. The restaurant continued to fill up with others enjoying their New Years Day and I could tell this was a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike. I would definitely recommend if you are in the area!

Hello my fellow Unilocalers. If you are reading this than you have likely arrived in Puerto Rico and ready to eat some food. Well it is just your luck you have stumbled upon this local joint which goes by the name of Metropol. In this this restaurante(restaurant) you start your authentic journey by entering through an air conditioned door where you are greeted by friendly staff. In my visit we were seated quickly and handed our menus which provided us with just the right amount of options. The restaurant was not too loud, not too quiet, but just right. Our orejas, or ears, were soothed by the authentic music being played from the restaurant’s speakers. We ordered our drinks, a strawberry smoothie, margarita, and diet coke, which were all of the highest quality of course. Speaking of course now it was time for our main one. I will focus on what I ordered, a delectable platter of chopped fried chicken with the special black beans and rice. From the first bite this dish carries you away to the island of wonder and mystery which immediately stimulates all of the senses in your body: physically and spiritually. I highly recommend this meal that some might call a gift from the gods. I may not know much about Puerto Rican cuisine, but what I do know is that this restaurant is a destination you must seek. So come and experience what I did at the Metropol, and let the authenticity and culture carry you away.

The service, food, and dining experience was phenomenal!- Now the price, much better than expected. Andres took care of our requests better than any other 5-star restaurant I’ve been to stateside. A MUST visit restaurant while in Puerto Rico’s, Isla Verde area.

Forgot to take a photo of my flan!. Metropol just celebrated 50 years of business & it’s obvious why. They offer very good Puerto Rican & Cuban food at fair prices in a pleasant atmosphere with good service. I enjoyed the baccalaitos & my fried rice dish(where they substituted chicken for the pork that’s normally in it) as well as my delicious home made flan. Wholeheartedly recommended :)

A local friend of ours took us out to dinner here and we were extremely pleased(this restaurant was also recommended to us by our taxi driver the night before, so we were already planning on coming here). The waitress was wonderful– she took one look at our table(two locals, two tourists) and quipped, «Spanglish?» I got what I think was called the boliche(basically pot roast) which my local friend was VERY enthusiastic about. My husband ordered the skirt steak at the waitress’s recommendation, and I forget what the locals ordered. We also got the bread fruit tostones at the locals’ recommendation. I was very skeptical when I saw my boliche– it looked like two chunks of beef slathered in tomato sauce and nothing else, but it was AMAZING. The beef was so tender it basically melted in my mouth, and the sauce was the most flavorful I’ve ever tasted. My husband’s skirt steak was quite good, too. The bread fruit tostones were interesting, but nothing to write home about. Bottom line: would definitely recommend this restaurant to a friend.

Had the fried chicken pieces and mofongo, with a side of rice and beans. All of it was good, but not nearly as impressive as other local restaurants. The fried chicken pieces were good and something I would get again, the breeding had great flavor and tasted very fresh. The beans tasted more like American chili, which was a little weird. Mofongo was below average. The atmosphere was more modern than any other restaurant I’ve been to so far in Puerto Rico. It was bright and clean, with real tables, table clothes and metal silverware. The location in Unilocal is wrong, it is on the main road you come in on, across the street from the gas station.

There are many of these around PR and some are better than others. If you want local food then you must stop here. I ate the ropa vieja and it was quite tasty.

An average Cuban/Puerto Rican restaurant. Masitas de puerco were very greasy and congri was so, so(I have had it better) Mojito was good and service was prompt. Our experience with the one in Isla Verde was better.

Mmmmm… this an authentic Cuban resturant. The food is great and the portions of food are enormous. The people who work there are cuban so they try their best to keep up with the tradition of Cuban hospitality and warmth cuisine. I had white rice, skirt steak and black beans(frijoles) and for dessert, their flan… mmmmmmmmm! Plus their mojito’s are the best!
