So this is a review of just the bar and not the restaurant as we only drank and did not eat when we visited. The bar looks like a bit of a dive bar. To me it seemed to be rocky in feel from the look of the barmaids and the dark atmosphere, but it played a variety of rap, rock and old music to. No pop on the menu tho. There was a cool jukebox where u could line up various wu tang, public enemy and dre tunes if that’s your thing. We stumbled on this place when hiding from the rain but I am glad we did. We drank loads of whiskey at the bar and soaked up the atmosphere which is made by the bar staff who are constantly singing and dancing and encouraging the crowd to enjoy themselves. My only complaint is it was pretty expensive. Around 8 quid a whiskey, but it was almost worth it for the atmosphere and great night we had. Worth a look if your looking for a party atmosphere and to have a few drinks in HK.

We had heard some pretty good thing about Fatty Crab so decided to give it a go and over all we were pretty happy, except for a couple of points The Good Drink — good range of interesting and different cocktails — i tried the ‘Smoke n Ember” and my wife had the ‘drug mule’, both of which were enjoyable Food — very good — started with the Pork buns which were amazing and then had the Curry Kambing. For mains we had the baby back ribs and the beef rendang, both great. The waitresses emphasised to us that the meals were designed for sharing but the portion sizes that we were given indicated otherwise Service — despite other reviews to contrary service was pretty good The Not So Good It was SOOOOO noisy! We were one of the first in the restaurant. There was a group of 5 or 6 people sitting at the bar having a good time + they had the music BLARING — the combination of which meant that we couldnt virtually hear ourselves speak, they only turned the music down when the restaurant was almost full Service charge — They dont include a service charge but when they bill comes the ‘Service charge not included’ is highlighted so much you cant miss it. This seems to be happening in a few places in HK(maybe the owners are American) but i dont like it — this is not the USA and IMHO we dont want to move to a tipping culture, nobody knows what to tip! So overall — very enjoyable and glad i have been but wont be racing back

From the outside, Fatty Crab looks like a typical NYC casual restaurant. Once inside though, it’s a whole different story. The distressed walls are a charming mess, grungy yet peculiarly inviting at the same time. I guess after seeing a lot of «polished» restaurants, I found that a space that embraces its history is far more enticing. We went on a quiet Tuesday evening and eventually(waited for an hour) sat down at the graffiti-laden main dining room. Since this was aptly named the Fatty Crab, all we wanted to try out were — yes, you guessed it — the crabs. I had a look at the menu and saw it divided into four sections. There was a «raw bar» that had freshwater mollusks and crustaceans, «skinny» that had salads and buns, «fatty» which contained most of what we’d like to order(think main dishes), and finally, «sides» that had rice and unexpectedly, kang kong. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the ingredients used in each meal we asked — #veryrare and a plus in my book. We ordered the smoked crab curry summer roll, which was sadly, nothing to write home about. Fortunately, the next dish(chili Dungeness crab) was phenomenal, had sweet tender meat that you really have to use your bare hands to enjoy(bib and tissue, please?) We had to order another one, this time cooked in curry, but we still preferred our crab meat in chili. I will be back to sample the non-crab dishes(I heard the fatty duck and Duroc ribs were stellar) and have a go at their audaciously-titled cocktail, Prison Sex. Prepare thug tears. Take note that Fatty Crab does not have any service charge and takes no reservations. Arrive before 6pm to get a table, or wait by the bar area and chat a bartender(lose your phone) to pass the time.
