Definitely a hangout for regulars, but the bar is not overly cliquey. While you enjoy the sights of the expat community of HK traveling up and down the escalators, you’ll meet a lot of new friends and fun loving drinking buddies. Always a good time, always plenty of alcohol to fuel the mayhem. Be prepared to inhale copious amounts of smoke, though.

Peak Café is absolutely my favourite place at Christmas. It makes such a good mulled wine and I love the chatty atmosphere. The food is okay, not the greatest but not the worst. It’s definitely a must do at Christmas! Although be prepared to wait a little as the service is a little slower than most of the joints in soho. I’m not a big Peak Café frequenter during the rest of the year, although if you’re stuck for an easy eat in soho, their menu has all types of cuisine to offer. From all day breakfasts, to Asian delights to pizzas — you’re bound to find something for a group who can’t quite decide on their noms of choice. My top tip — have a mulled wine or two. I have, so this review may be a little biased on how good the slosh is!

Bad service but decent white sangria. After a long wait to order, my friend caught dropping off the drinks to the wrong table and had to correct her. Will probably not come back.

Despite the disinterested wait staff, the Peak Café Bar is a favorite place for me to grab brunch or lunch. The menu features a large selection of comfort food favorites — from egg dishes to pasta to a guilty-pleasure fried fish fillet sandwich served with olive bread(that I always vow never to eat but always cave!) and a side of fries. The restaurant’s HK-rustic décor is also charming, as is its location along the Mid-Levels Escalator. A table up front is perfect for people-watching, but sitting further back is lovely as well. The wait staff(mostly non-Hong Kong locals) need a but more training, though — they are pretty disinterested! Also, one, on my way out I overheard them standing at the bar, complaining about a customer.

First time try this restaurant, their environment is nice. It is very interesting renovation, they make with English bar and Chinese. Ordered a British Breakfast, the food presentation was good, but the taste was not same. Meat was little bit hard and dry. The eggs was also little bit over cook!

Great mulled wine in the winter! Nice venue and location, but food and service is average.

This is an easy-to-meet spot that makes it packed all time. Primely located next to the escalator, some convenient choice when all the bars are engaged in Soho and all other brunch place opens till 11am on Sundays. The name hardly attract me to try. Some reclaimed local western food that stay with all the traditions. I can risk for food. Anyway, one day it was my friend’s choice. The happy hour is almost the same as Stauton. The menu is of course all the basics that you can imagine. I had a Risotto ai Fruitti di Mare for main and my friend went for the roasted chicken. Quite a lot seafood for my risotto and well-cooked rice. But I told you they can be good, just not surprising nor entertaining. I can smell all tourists around. We should impress all our guests with some 208 standards for newbies in town right?!

The Peak Café Bar is always busy. It must be something to do with the location, taking up two whole shop frontages on Shelley Street just off the esco, because it’s just a bar and restaurant. It is extremely convenient to find, the interior layout(tables along one side, bar along the other) makes it easy to spot your buddy, and the toilets are sufficiently far away so you don’t feel you’ve got the bum table by the bogs. Peak Café serves a good range of beers, wines and spirits, as well as food. The food menu is reasonably large and quite eclectic, which is convenient when I want nasi goreng, and Mrs L wants a pizza. I suppose having this wide and diverse range of drinks and food, does make it easier to meet friends here, as everyone gets catered for. What I do like about Peak Café, is that it’s great for«after» drinks and food. Open until 2am every night, and one of the only places I have found to be serving food past midnight, Peak Café is great to have a night cap or a pre-bed pizza(note, it is only the pizza oven that stays open late). Would I choose to spend a night here? Probably not, as I always feel the bar atmosphere is quite transient, as in full of people waiting to meet friends before moving on, or people coming for a last beer before home. However, this is what makes it good. Come and meet a friend, then come back later. Just don’t stay here for the main performance.
