Ruby’s Patisserie

I popped in to Ruby’s to pick up a few cakes for afternoon tea, and was greeted by the friendly pastry chef and owner, Paul.
As it was fairly late in the day there wasn’t a wide range of cakes left, but there was enough to satisfy a few picky palates. What I really appreciated was that there were options for larger cakes, or smaller ones at only $ 2.90 a serve.
The photo represents the cakes I selected; passionfruit tart, coffee chocolate tart, lemon tart, raspberry mousse cake and éclair with toffee topping. Paul also threw in a few coconut meringues at no extra cost. They were all big hits, and I loved my choice of the tangy passionfruit tart.
This little shop on Wanneroo Rd is conveniently located, although the parking can be a bit of a headache at busy times. The cakes are delicious and reasonably priced, and you can order large cakes for special events.

Ruby’s have a small selection of individual serve cakes, and whole cakes on sale at any time, but it really is best to place an order at Ruby’s in advance, as you never know what will be left on the day.
The focus of the business is more of a classic, European vibe, I guess that makes sense if it’s called a Patisserie! So you won’t find any cupcakes or red velvet cake here, (though they probably could bake it for you on order). It’s more liqueur soaked sponge layer cakes, biscotti, fruit cake, almond tarts etc. All very delicious. Be aware it’s not a café, there is no seating at all inside, it’s 100% takeaway.
For special occasions, book ahead to have a sit down with Paul the owner, and he’ll walk you through your options and show you photos of past cakes he’s created. Birthday cakes, christening cakes, wedding cakes, you name it they’ll make it. The prices are pretty standard.

Rubys is definitely a favorite of mine (and whoever I am with at the time!) with amazing eclairs, macarons and slices. Friendly staff and a great range. Parking car be a bit of a hit-​and-​miss, just make sure you don’t go around the time school finishes for the day.
Top of the list would have to be their made to order strawberry shortcake. Bought for a friends birthday it was light and the strawberries inside were amazingly fresh.
Only negative would be opening hours, but hey I guess the staff need a personal life too and for the quality I can understand.

Your not going to find any cheap nasty cupcakes here, these are the real deal. The little petite fours were lovely and the attention to detail is wonderful. What a skill to have.
I actually found out about this place, when someone brought a praline chocolate cake into work for my birthday, whoa what a treat. We usually just buy the awful cakes from the cheesecake shop, so this just blew everyones socks off in the office.
The service here is really good, if your indecisive they will help you choose the perfect cake and believe me I can stand a good 15 minutes in here trying to make my mind up.
