As Tomiko promotes itself as a Japanese Steakhouse, we decided to skip the usual sushi and sashimi this night, and sample the grilled offerings. A plate of gyoza pork and veggie dumplings was an ideal starter for two. Then we went for the teppanyaki grill packages that add miso soup, salad, and vegetables to the meat. The hibachi steak cubes were juicy and seared excellently. I ordered the USUYAKIBEEFROLLWITHMUSHROOMSANDHERBS, which is a thin strip of steak wrapped around a bundle of shiitake mushrooms and then sliced into sushi-looking pieces. Quite an experience, especially when you share! Washed it down with a carafe of Junmai Ginjo sake, and it was a very nice way to do sunset on the marina of Adelaide’s premier seaside destination.

Update Jan 2016: — Always good, you can’t beat this place in summer. Maybe not the best Japanese around but very consistent and the location makes the difference. Very nice location on a warm night sitting outside overlooking the Marina. There is also a teppanyaki bar with its own slightly different menu. Also a sushi train and a private room as well! All the food very good. Brought out the rice well after most of the mains!

We visited this place after a stroll along the Pier trying to decide what to eat. We needed to be out within the hour and the staff were attentive and ensured that we were served and out on time. We ordered the large sushi boat and it was amazing! There were so many different options and the quality was great. The sashimi was delicious! Definitely a great place to try along the Pier for some fresh and tasty sushi!

High Quality Japanese food is what you get here. The Service is top notch, with plenty of Wait Staff available. You can start with a selection of Sushi of course, then there’s the choice of steaks available, even Wagu! Plus for those not in the mood for steak there are also plenty of options, even a few degustation options. There are 2 Tepanyaki Tables at the front of the restaurant if you book, or are lucky enough to get a seat.

Wonderful food, fresh and serve with theatre and style. Loved it! We had the teppanyaki and there was so much food we couldn’t eat it all. Not only was it delicious, but you get some great cooking tips as well. Would thoroughly recommend it.

Woo hoo! I’m the first again. That’s what you wanna read in a review. I totally forgot about the Glenelg Marina. I don’t think I have been in this area in years. It’s hidden away compared to Jetty Rd. I’m glad someone suggested it because I like this Japanese restaurant. They offer sushi, teppanyaki grill cooked in front of you, and sake! Tried it for the first time. Not bad. I want to go back and try the teppanyaki grill with a group of friends. Looks like fun. The views are great of the beachfront, and pretend you own one of the expensive boats parked out the back. Or maybe you do. The staff are really friendly and the service is good. Not a very big restaurant but this place would be great in summer outside. Would definitely come again.
