Love it. Old school, authentic and grungy yiros place. I think that best sums it up. Poor Makis though, and the insert of the all(fairly) new and sparkling Souvlaki Bros just a short walking distance away! Meanwhile, it always looks fairly quiet at Makis Yiros, but I’m sure come Summer(and now), and this will be a different story. Especially if Souvlaki Bros get lines from here to the end of the jetty. Like I said, this is more of your dingy sort of joint, with its own personal charm. Can’t go wrong with some lamb on the spit and zaziki in a bit of pita bread. Beleive it or not, but it’s also one of your more healthier options for lunch in terms of take out. Or so I have been told. Good work Makis!

Hell yeah Alison p. has described this take-away perfectly. It’s one of those places that even with a spanking new sign can’t disguise both its age and scunginess. But Makis does a damn good yiros(ciggy stained fingers and all), so it’ll keep you coming back for more(even against your better judgement and hygiene concerns). Of course it helps business that you’ll stumble upon it if you head vertically from the Grand(if you can walk that straight that is). In a nutshell — Makis for yiros!

I tossed up between giving this place four stars for their yummy yiros, or three stars after being put off slightly by the other reviews. I decided on four because when it comes down to it, this place makes such a nice yiros that nothing could put me off them. Well almost nothing. The garlic sauce is strong and super garlicky, just how I like it, and the meat is fresh and so tender. They are hands down the best yiros in Glenelg.

Talk about grungy old yiros shops this is definitely one of them. It is amazing how this seedy joint has survived. Well, maybe not so much; I still get my yiros from here and surprisingly I have never been sick. No really, the yiros themselves are very good, dripping in garlic sauce and freshly cooked on the rotisserie, no complaints there. Makis, the owner, is often seen sitting on or standing near the seat outside watching the passing parade with a cigarette in his mouth(which is a bit of a turn off when you know he makes up the yiros). However, he is always friendly and charming. For all its appearance, I would still recommend a take away yiros from here,(to eat at the beach not in the shop).
