Nice greasy fish and chips that you’d want to take to the beach. We ordered a combo that came with butterfish, prawns, calamari and chips. Tasty. There’s lots of room to sit in the restaurant but we grabbed ours to go and sat on Glenelg beach to enjoy.

I came across this fish and chip while walking on Jetty Road and thought I might give it a try because I was hungry. When I walked into the shop I was given the option to dine in or take away. I decided to dine in and see what their services were like. I found the dining area to be small; there weren’t many tables or chairs. There were a lot of stainless steels inside the shop to give you the impression that you are inside a fishing ship. I ordered the battered white fish with vegetable and chips which arrived after about 10mins. The fish wasn’t fresh and was probably imported. There were a good portion of vegetable and the battered fish and chip had a funny taste. I think it was because the deep fried oil won’t change very often. The services weren’t all that great and I had to wait for more than 5 minutes until someone place my order. If you are looking for a inexpensive fish and chip than this is the place for you.

I am a sucker for a good salt n pepper squid, but so many fall short! If you order it at a pub they are either under seasoned, over cooked or gunked together so much that you almost need a steak knife to hack your way through… Mmmmmm steak! The Oyster Shop is GOLD! I love the Salt and Pepper Squid, and the fact you can eat it on the go. It certainly isn’t the cheapest fast food in the world, but jeez it goes down a treat! Served in a cone, with chips you don’t even have to worry about the tartre sauce, it really doesn’t need it. The shop doesn’t look as shiny bright as it did a couple of years back, but the beautiful seafoody tidbits are still the balls!

I found this little corner shop on Jetty Rd mainly because my Mum is obsessed with their oysters and will drive from anywhere in Adelaide to get to them. Despite its size, it does a really good trade along the busy section of Glenelg real estate and has a good reputation for its quick seafood. There is a dine in or take out option for most menu items, however there is limited seating so don’t go bringing a massive group. The prices are reasonable and the portion sizes are generous and can easily be shared between two depending on how hungry you are. Their chips are the highlight of the menu, thick and potatoey(yes that it is a word) but still crunchy and not super greasy. Their little tubs of sauces are annoying though coming from a sauce lover who needs more sauce than chips and doesn’t want to pay the earth for it. If you are grabbing a quick bite before you head down to the beach the wait is pretty quick depending on what you order and the staff are nice. Perfect and inexpensive beach food for a sunny day.
