Good little spot. Great atmosphere and lovely staff. Only problem is the price of the craft beer

This place is THE business. Gorgeous contemporary, industrial styling. Not unlike Bread in Common but a little more refined. Such lovely cocktails. One off the menu and a delicious special made ‘what flavours do you like?’ by the lovely bar person. We also enjoyed some small bites menu. The warm octopus at first alarmed us by it’s texture(squishy) but the flavour was great, also recommend the anchovies from the tin and garlic toasts. This place is one to try the next time you are in Freo by yourself or with friends it’s fancy and friendly. Also a good spot to hang while waiting for your seating at Bread in Common.

A nice addition to the Fremantle winebar scene. More than half of the listed cocktails were unavailable when I visited — I’d like to return when they’re fully stocked!

Off the main tourist strip, you can see why this is fast becoming a favourite in Freo. Chic décor, a solid drink menu and lovely bar staff make this a winner. The only(slight) downfall would be the food list — whilst it’s not professing to be a restaurant, a few more bigger dishes would allow you to stay here without having to leave for dinner!

Strange Company is a new restaurant in Freo and such a great addition to the neighbourhood! Nestled in an unassuming residential street, it’s modern and sophisticated inside and has a nice front terrace. We wanted to try a little bit of everything so the Chef’s Selection was an easy choice for us. We loved the white anchovy wrapped tomato that came out first, it was such a tangy and flavour packed bite. The baked scallops were presented beautifully in the half shell, and the Waldorf Salad was a nice spin on the original with spinach and a creamy yogurt dressing that helped complement the sliced apples perfectly. I loved the sardines on toast, topped with a lemony mash of fresh spring peas. Perfect little dish for spring that I thought the peas were really the star of, with the strong sardines providing great cut through. The octopus was perfectly tender and delicate. We also ordered some the strange fries which were just standard chips, but tasty nonetheless. For dessert we had the choice of a brownie or a cheese plate. The cheese menu was small but it had so many cheeses I hadn’t heard of that I wanted to try. We got the ossau iraty with mulberry jam. The ossau iraty is a French sheep milk cheese that was a bit hard yet still creamy and grassy. It was a great pairing with the sweet mulberry jam. In addition to an extensive wine menu, they have a great cocktail list — I ordered the Moonshine n Oil. You don’t see moonshine very often on a cocktail menu so I felt compelled to order it, especially since the bartender said it was his favourite drink. It was delicious and earthy — very easy to drink! Overall, a great spot for a nice drink and tasty nibbles.

Intimate, dark, cosy as well as a visual feast. Highly recommend the scallops and the gin cocktail. The kind of place that brings in all walks of life, so you’ll never feel out of place, which is refreshing. Will definitely be visiting again and again!

The chips were the best thing on the food menu that we sampled. The chicken and leek pies were cute, but somehow over tarragon-ed with no flavor! It was kind of a magical disappointment. The broccoli and Brussel sprouts had more flavor, but that due to the chilis masquerading as broccoli stalks. The sauce was tart, but didn’t complement the broccoli. This was rather rude considering it was sharing a plate. Excellent cocktails. The penicillin will cure all that ails you and the Rosie Collins was a delight. The venue is something you would see in mount lawley or the city, freo trying to lift its game

Decided to start our girls night catchup at this lovely bar before heading to dinner. First thing I noticed was that I didn’t feel old in the crowd. Being only just in my 30s it was nice to find a bar with an older clientele with such a great bar staff. I ordered an off the menu rum Old Fashioned and it was served up promptly in a beautiful glass. The drink was devine and the girls drinking the champagne said it was worth the price. Whilst the by glass prices were not cheap the quality made it worth while. Great spot for a small group catchup of drinks with a friend. We didn’t have any food but what went past us looked amazing. Will definitely be going back.

Why oh why did I drive? Is what myself and any other person who drove to this bar has thought, while kicking themselves. The wine list is fantastic, with some really great local wines on there — go WA! After umming and ahhing for quiet some time over a riesling or chardonnay the bar staff were more than happy to let me try a couple. This didn’t make my decision any easier as they were all delicious! I only stayed for a couple of drinks and some cheese and mulberry jam and toast. But you could definitely spend 6+ hours here working your way through the wine list and nibbles. I was sat on the bar side of the venue, there appears to be a restaurant side in the other half of the venue. Very keen to go back for a meal. The interior is gorgeous, minimal modernist vibe. The crowd is over thirties. I just love this place.

Freo’s latest trendy small bar addition. They have a great cocktail bar with the typical price tag($ 18+). We enjoyed some expresso martinis, old fashioneds and whisky sour cocktails. They have a delicious wine range thanks to some strong competition at Bread in Common down the road. If you are counting your pennies there is also house wine by the carafe. Lots of yummy share plates on the menu and some delicious desserts. Ex Mo-vida chef Rikke does a great job. A diverse crowd of corporates, hospitality workers and locals visit the space. Unfortunately it does not have table service which can be quite frustrating at times particularly when the bar is busy. You cannot drink outside after 10pm due to the bar being situated in a semi residential area. Overall I like the space and the design but I feel it is missing personality. I can’t put my finger on it exactly — perhaps other Unilocalers can help me out?

This new edition to Fremantle’s small bar is an excellent find. Located near Bread in Common, it has a beautiful fit out with polished concrete floors, mixed seating areas while encompassing the chilled Freo vibe. Look out for the wine on tap(mmm tap wine mmm) that comes by the carafe, a decent wine and beer list and a creative small eats and share style menu. The desserts also looked out of this world and these are high on the list for the next visit. Do yourself a favour and drop in next time you’re in the area.

Ooh likey likey. A new Freo bar that mixes the new chic vibe with old awesome Freo feels. The food menu was so tasty and a step away from the meat laden options you’re usually faced with. Pretty happy with the delish Chardonnay I’m currently enjoying and my mates are delighting in carafes of Merlot. WINEONTAPPEOPLE! Nice musical influences and frivolity all round. Let’s hope this place maintains its high standards we have experienced this evening. Yip!
