Benny’s was great! I loved the Benny burger and the osters. What really got me was the Benny Crush. Great drink!

Came here last night for dinner for the first and last time. Ordered the seafood platter and the peri-peri chicken thigh. The seafood platter didn’t taste fresh at all, it looked like it had been in a frozen packet for a long time before it got to the table. Didn’t even have a nice flavour to it. Peri-peri chicken was nothing special that I didn’t even want to finish it, nando’s is a million times better. On a bright note we couldn’t fault the service the wait staff were lovely, I just wouldn’t come back for dinner.

Great coffee, but the breakfast menu ends at 11.15 sharp. Lunch options are pretty heavy, so it’s not really a place for late risers wanting to squeeze in a late breakfast. Really nice location on the cappuccino strip, great service and great for people watching.

Bennys is both a cool hang out bar with jazz bands playing at night/weekends and a family reataurant during the week/day. I have been there and experienced both sides of this place. The cool hang out bar is really good with its own vodka bar, extensive cocktail menu, international beers and live bands. The restaurant part Is a bit hit and miss, the staff are really friendly but the food is slightly over priced for the standard produced, it’s borderline pub food. Which is the reason I give this place 3 stars.

There are two different experiences you can have at Benny’s — either the restaurant/café experience where you have a sit down meal or the pub/bar experience after about 20:00 — 20:30. I’m a little divided about the rating, on one hand I want to give the restaurant/café experience 3 stars, but I think the pub/bar experience deserves 4 stars so I have rounded up. The food isn’t bad, but there is nothing special about it, and to be honest I think it’s a little overpriced for the quality and flavour that they deliver. The portion sizes are exactly what you’d expect to find in a pub, and I can’t ever seem to finish a meal here! There is a fair bit of variety on the menu, which is good for regulars. I have always enjoyed the pub/bar atmosphere here though. The crowd is usually quite varied and generally good value. There are areas up the back that are a little quieter which makes it a good place to catch up with friends or have a drink and a dance, or all three! Definitely a good casual night out!

I have been to Benny’s multiple times and have only had one off experiece, but it was only off because I was being over picky. Their«Surf & Turf» is by far the best I have had, it is a nice change to incomperate Scallops into the meal, rather than just Prawns. Portion sizes are big and wait time for meals are reletively quick. :)

I walk past this bar/café on a regular basis and gaze longingly at their humungous pizzas, probably their USP given their delicious scents which waft down south terrace every day of the week. I’ve never been here for lunch though, because they don’t offer a lot on the way of gluten free goods. I have resorted to benny’s bar late at night when the rest of Fremantle shuts down, and a boozy time it was indeed. The place is throbbing from 10pm onwards with hoards of over 25s keen to boogey to a bit of cheesy pop music. The bar is well stocked with a range of flavored vodkas, and the vibe was very, very friendly. Perhaps a little bit too friendly.

My first acquaintance with this place was via the noise pollution generated by their Friday night cover band annoying me when I was working across the road. As a uni student, this place seemed a bit overpriced and full of office workers. As a slightly more mature gentleman of just under thirty years, I can now appreciate this place a bit better. Though it remains a bit of a water cooler meat market come weekend nights, the fairly conventional restaraunt food here is consistently of a high standard. It’s a great place to come during midweek nights, grab a light bite to eat and a cocktail while indulging in some cappuccino strip people-watching. The bar staff are generally a pretty talented bunch and I’ve yet to have a bad drink here across numerous visits. Their entertainment policy remains awful, but thankfully only in place on nights when I wouldn’t want to be there anyway. Worth checking out on quiet nights.

I’ve been here once for night life socialising purposes and had such an amazing time that I can’t really remember much of anything… For this reason I can only write a review for the restaurant itself. All in all I’m impressed with this place. The people are friendly, the drink selection is large and although it is quite pricey I never feel like I’m getting ripped off. I’m often afraid to get steaks at places that aren’t really known for steaks but I bit the bullet last time I was here and ordered a steak for lunch. Cooked to perfection! The other friends I was with both got Chicken Parma and raved about it. I recommend this place!

Why oh why do I insist on walking past this restaurant at times during the day when, not only am I hungry but the outdoor seating is thronged with people eating pizzas, burgers and chilli mussels. I can’t help but rubber neck as I stroll past and gaze at the plates of beautifuly presented food. I swear I can taste the tomato and basil. It is more expensive than its neighbouring foodies but it is definitely better. It is a bit much for me for a casual walk-by lunch but as for a sit-down dinner pre or post drinks then it will be worth it. It could do with a bit more atmoshpere as the noise seems to be enhanced by the stainless steel walls. The food would definitely taste better if management discarded the disco approach after hours.

As a bar, Benny’s teeters on the edge of hopelessly naff and wonderfully cool. The hipster in me wants to go with the latter, embracing the irony of all that is great about this place: the jazzy pop cover band with its sultry female lead, the dark blue lighting and the sweaty, shameless dance-floor, the 40-year-old man boogying from his knees with a freshly picked-up lady and a grin as a wide as the seas. It’s an adult crowd, sure, but the reinterpreted pop tunes make it plenty of fun for the youths as well. I’m not normally one to encourage sleek bar patronage, but there are some hidden cracks in this place which make it worthwhile. You won’t see them at first, but keep at, keep drinking, and before you know it, you’ll be singing along and shimmying to Hey Ya like you never have before.
