Pure Barre

Let me start by telling you that I have a gym membership that costs me $ 20 a YEAR so as I give my review, just know that this is coming from the expectation that any workout that costs me money had better be worth it.
This workout is more than worth it. The hour goes quickly. It is a brutal, sometimes demoralizing workout. However, the instructors and the overall vibe help me to not give up. The burn and pain the next morning (or later in the day) makes me feel like all the effort is going towards actual results. I am stronger. My posture is better. I’m not a small woman, but I feel better taking these classes 3 – 4 times a week. Why would you take the effort to workout and not feel it? There are woman of all ages, shapes, sizes and fitness levels and EVERYONE gets their best workout.
The studio is clean, the instructors are the nicest girls you’ll ever sweat in front of, and you will FEEL your hard work. It is worth every penny.

I have been doing Pure Barre for over 5 years. PB is a great way to tone and make you sweat! I have been wanting to try Ally’s studio for about a year now. Ally was one of my favorite teachers when she was at the Irvine PB.
This studio is by far the best Pure Barre studio I have attended. The studio is spacious, super clean, well-​kept and well laid out. There is even strategically laid out spaces for those people who like to be cornered off from other people or should I say those people (like myself) who like their own space! All the equipment is new or looks new.
The front desk area is so inviting with all the little details — the chandelier and two long seating areas with accent pillows. It is so nice that there is enough space there so you can rest a second after class before taking off your barre shoes.
I took Ally’s class this Saturday and boy did my booty feel it! Ally is a great teacher and she can really motivate me and our class.
I look forward to taking more of her classes and trying out all the teachers at this location.

Love love LOVE Pure Barre Rossmoor/​Seal Beach! I just recently finished up a year of membership and I am so pleased with my time spent at this studio. The Pure Barre method concentrates on all of those nagging problem areas women love to hate (arms, thighs, seat, abs). If you go at least 3 – 4 times a week, you’ll definitely see a change in your body. In my personal experience, I’ve noticed my arms and thighs are leaner and my seat is much more toned. I get the best results when I add cardio to my workout routine, but if you’re only doing barre, you will feel leaner and stronger! There are plenty of classes throughout the day every day of the week, so the schedule works with anyone’s busy schedule. The studio is always clean and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. All the instructors are amazing! I’ve taken classes from all of them and they all are great at what they do! The owner, Ally, chooses the right people for the job! Sam is my favorite and her 6am classes are a great way to wake up and start your day! I also love Jalee’s and Ally’s classes. Their classes are always intense and they like to challenge each client to push themselves harder each time. Needless to say, I highly recommend pure barre Rossmoor to anyone who likes an enjoyable workout that provides great results.

Ally and her staff do an incredible job creating an environment that is fun, friendly and motivating. I’ve been coming here for 3 months and every class has been challenging in a different way. The instructors are all consistently great with providing verbal cues and walking around the room to help with form. Class times are super-​convenient; although, I would recommend signing up in advance as space can be limited.
I’m echoing Cathy D’s sentiment that the carpet perhaps needs to be vacuumed more often. There have been a few too many times where I had someone else’s hair stuck to my sock. EW. (At the very least, I would hope for my own hair. haha.) Otherwise though, the studio itself is sparkling clean and they take a lot of care to ensure that all of the equipment is wiped down after each class.
All in all, I would definitely recommend coming here for a fun, unique and *effective* workout. Extra bonus is that it seems that they often have special fitness challenges and pricing to make it more enticing to come!

The instructors and owner are all amazing! Very friendly and helpful. This location also offers the most number of classes per day than any small gym I’ve been to in the area. Overall, it’s a great total body workout in 60 min. The only criticism I have is the carpet, which I feel could be cleaner.

Holy cow, I’ve never worked out like this before. This is amazing! I’m doing a ²⁰⁄₃₁ day challenge and I’m a quarter of the way thru and I’m still loving it. It’s definitely a challenge… it’s hard, but feels so good! This location is so nice, and clean, and organized really well. The instructors and owners (who are also instructors) are all really helpful and really nice. They explain all movements really well so everyone gets it. I also really love that there are women of all ages doing this. So awesome! I’m not kidding… Like women in their 60’s are in here rocking this workout. So great!

I bought a Groupon for this studio and was displeased for several reasons. I have attended several barre studios and this was by far my least favorite.
Pros: Good location, ample class availability, really sweet instructors, clean equipment.
Cons: For starters, I don’t know why any workout venue would have carpet as a floor material. It seems unhygienic and inhibits many of the floor «dragging» motions you’re supposed to do with your feet… whatever that means I’m still not certain. i just know it put holes in the heels of my totes. My major qualm with this place is that they do not use universal language to provide verbal instructions. I think the Pure Barre philosophy is that they don’t want to exclude people who don’t have a background knowledge of ballet terminology. I get that, but when you make up your own terms for random movement, you’re class is going to have a hard time following. It would help if the instructors actually demonstrated the motions, but they definitely do not do that. They mostly just barked «tuck, tuck tuck» at you for an hour.
I was also dissatisfied with the atmosphere created by Pure Barre. Again, I want to emphasize the instructors were super sweet and showed me around the studio on my first visit, but the regular attendees seemed to create this cult like vibe that was more distracting than inviting. The regulars did a great job of covering themselves from head to toe in Pure Barre logo gear, but other than that, they never seemed to be doing the same motions in class. The classes were waaaaaay overcrowded. I usually got there early and about 5 minutes before class a crowd of people would make their way in and plop down inches away from my mat. Now how will I have room to tuck?!
Moral of the story folks, as a seasoned barre practitioner I got a really crappy workout at Pure Barre. I spent most of the class looking around wondering what the heck was going on. Go somewhere else to get your releve on!

Wow! I’m totally hooked on this place! I was introduced to this place by Living Social, (I have attended Bar Method, Pop Physique and Cardio Bar in the past). The instructors are really knowledgeable and do a great job of challenging me every time. I think my favorite though is Jalee, she is insane, I get a crazy workout with her class everytime. All the instructors are great though and this last month I have really noticed a change in my legs and core. I usually do yoga, but I have notice an increase in strength with introducing these classes. It focuses all my favorite areas (ha ha) like glutes and thighs but my really focuses on abs.
I just signed up for another month, I highly recommend

The facilities were fine but the instructions/​instructor at this location were not great. She didn’t give good verbal direction and it was difficult to see what was suppose to be done from others in the class because everyone was doing different things.
She did come up to people a lot for individual direction/​critique which is fine, but this can be avoided if she just gave the whole class better direction overall on what was suppose to be done.
I want to preface this by saying I am not a fitness newb, I work out 5x per week alternating between Soul Cycle, Flywheel, Exhale barre, bikram yoga, and vinyasa. I also have done Pure Barre at other locations and have enjoyed it. I was more satisfied at the PopPhysique class if I had to pick a place in Seal Beach.

I have attended pure barre in three different studios across the country (in Texas, Michigan, and now California) and while the technique itself remains consistent from each studio (motivating, challenging, addictive, etc.), this location has been hands down, the best one yet. The studio itself is the largest I’ve seen of the three, giving each student ample room and access to a mirror view (so you can see what you’re doing, if you need to adjust your form, etc., which I value haha). I also get a much greater sense of passion from the owner and staff than I have at other locations! If you’re looking for a FANTASTIC workout that is safe for your body in a clean, well kept environment, try pure barre and at this location! Just beware, you’ll probably never look back :-)

This has been the best experience I’ve ever had. I can see and feel the results. I love Alley and her staff. She is awesome! She helps me with the proper poses. I highly recommend Pure Barre to every woman!

Another added piece of great information… the owner messaged me personally and asked about my knee and offered some special advice… she also kept me up to date on my daughters Pure Barre experience… this is what a business should do… get personal and care about your customers… love it! Ally and her staff certainly dont take having clients for granted… they nuture them… awesome business and a place where its a pleasure to keep paying. well spent.
