Barre Relevé

The most unwelcoming business I’ve ever tried to go to! I had a groupon and was excited to try out a different kind of barre. I’ve taken years of ballet, cardio barre and pure barre.
I was told I was not allowed in their level 2 class– The first 5 had to be level 1! Ridiculous, considering my background. After that, he says, «Well, you need a full size towel”– which they sell there! He didn’t even offer!
I won’t ever recommend or support that kind of business.

Best Barre in Long Beach. Beautiful location, friendly staff. Barre Releve is a great aerobic workout and is more fun than any other aerobic class. The staff plays fun upbeat music while taking you through ballet, Pilates, and yoga sequences. It’s my new obsession. :) Highly recommend!

I luv this place. Great workout. Ballet on steroids. I prefer it to all the barre classes with all the tucking or whatever when i never know if im doing it right & what exactly the movements are. The only reason for 4 stars is the first time I came (classpass) I didn’t injure I was supposed to bring a towel and in order to take the class I had to buy a $ 20 towel. No kidding. Nothing special about this towel either. It would have been helpful if they have a heads up about this in the class notes for classpass. Typically classes will state what you need to bring without having to go to the website to figure it out. Anyway, that irritated me but I’m Ive it & really dig the high energy instructors here. Lots of fun and a great workout!

I love this barre studio. I have been dancing for over 20 years and and I feel like I always get the best workout from barre. Bridgette is an amazing instructor she knows what she is doing and always pushes you a little more!!!

I feel like every one should try out Barre Releve!!! This studio makes you feel special and their instructors are amazing! I absolutely love this place. I haven’t been there in a bit because of my work schedule but if I could I would go every day! Best workout ever and it’s so much fun no matter what your level is!!! You have to try it.

After almost 3 years I’m still a HUGE fan of the amazing workouts offered at Barre Releve! Since my last post I cancelled my gym membership and exclusively do my workouts at this studio. I really enjoy coming in to such a friendly, positive environment and have met so many great people! The workouts continue to be amazing and are always changing so I never get bored, the routines literally keep me on my toes :) I love it when Crissy says «if we are going to workout we might as well look pretty doing it», and that’s exactly how I feel! I love the music which they never seem to repeat, the motivating and talented instructors, and the fact that I work out my whole body completely in 1 hour! I definitely recommend you try Barre Releve, it is like no other workout I’ve ever done, I’m addicted!

I’ve taken quiet a few barre classes and have lived all over. Although the location is fantastic, unfortunately this studio wasn’t for me. I do not have any experience or history in dance, and sometimes found myself feeling awkward and lost. Wasn’t getting as good of a workout or burn as I have in the past. Classes were always jam packed (I did go at prime time after work though…). Also they mixed it up a bit, but time after time the classes seemed to feel pretty repetitive. Instructors were friendly! Music was good. Just overall didn’t do it for me.

I’ve taken classes from every instructor here and all of them are enthusiastic, well trained, and push you hard to get a great workout! They motivate me to work harder here than I would on my own and I always finish class feeling glad that I came.
Barre Releve implements ballet movements and emphasizes proper technique in a unique yet super effective workout. I sometimes explain these barre classes to my friends as «ballet with weights». With 3 class levels to choose from there’s something here for people with no dance experience to trained dancers who are looking to get a good workout and focus on important muscle groups. I’ve trained in ballet and other forms of dance for many years have enjoyed every moment dancing at Barre Releve!

I have not worked out in years and was very scared about trying a barre class for the first time. The staff was so friendly and welcoming a long with the people taking the class. I had Crissy as my instructor and she was great! She is very encouraging and helped me push through until the end. I will definitely be coming back here! It was a great work out.

The best workout! Been attending classes for 2 years… went from size 9 – 10 to 2 – 4! Excellent management and instructions!

What a workout. Fun and energetic instructors. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

It will be a year in January that I have been coming to Barre Releve, I am 56 years old and the transformation in my body, mind and soul has been very apparent. I stand up straight now, I walk with poise and carry myself with Grace. The teachers have taught me how to love myself and to like what I see in the mirror. I have definition in my arms and I have definition in my backside instead of an Ironing board.
I walk into class three times a week and I am greeted with nothing but affection. I love the owners and instructors. I love going to class, don’t get me wrong I get the best work out I have ever gotten.
I hope who ever reads this review comes to class to experience the wonderful year I have had. I will be back.

Love these classes and instructors! I get a great workout every time as they truly infuse dance moves with cardio and weights. I always feel motivated, strong and graceful. It’s clean, simple and easy to get to. Their packages are affordable, and the women who dance there are easy going and focused.

I am so torn. I love the barre teachers! I have taken all of them and they all offer their own unique benefits. They have a lot of talent, motivation and skill. They are consistently friendly and helpful. Five stars for the instructors!
I am torn because I have less appreciation for the owners. They have been inconsistently friendly despite what rave reviews are on Unilocal (they offer incentives for reviewing). I have both been a receiver of and a witness to inconsistent friendliness and even semi-​abrasive interactions with others at Barre Releve. It seems like those who frequent the classes (some people go daily) are offered better treatment. Not a fan.
I truly enjoyed the classes while it lasted but will not be returning.
I am glad others have had such positive experiences; just hasn’t been mine.

barre releve is CHALLENGING and fun and fast paced… all of the wonderful things everyone says.
our instructor was (i believe… why am i so horrible with names when she could remember mine?!) adrianne?! ugh. she was so sweet and so good and so encouraging.
you will basically be constantly moving for 55 minutes. you will sweat and if you haven’t worked out in a while, your legs and butt and core and maybe even your arms will be twitchy. the good kind of work out pain.
loved it, can’t wait for the rest of my 9 classes in my groupon deal!

I started coming to Barre Releve because my coworker needed a workout buddy and she found Barre Releve on Groupon. She paid for my Groupon so I had no excuse not to go. I don’t workout period. Nothing stuck to me even during my pregnancy. I probably worked out a total of two weeks out of the 9 months I was pregnant. Our very first class was with Courtney on a Saturday morning. I survived and my legs felt like jelly afterwards. It was amazing! I love the ballet! I went from not working out at all to 3 days a week. After my 10 classes were over, I decided to sign up for unlimited and now go 5 days a week! It’s been a little over 6 months now.
Barre Releve is my happy place!

Found this gem of a place thru Groupon… I was just in town for a week and tried to find something different to do…
I really enjoyed the workout and i already am seeing results… Everyone is really nice…
Especially for being out of town and new to this, I was so lost! But they were all really helpful! I’m bummed that I can’t continue this at home but will definitely be back!

I have been a faithful Barre Releve client since they opened and LOVE what this workout has done for my body. Plus, it’s totally fun to bring out your inner ballerina and workout hard at the same time. If you are looking for a badass workout that will tone your legs quicker than any other, this is it! I have done lots of other «barre» classes, but this is very different and I have found it to be way more effective because of the cardio and the traditional ballet influences – correct ballet technique is really challenging! That said, you don’t need to be an experienced ballerina to look like one in this class. It is easy to catch on and all the instructors demonstrate beautifully and help you when needed. The routines are constantly mixed up and modified, so you and your body will not get bored.
I won’t lie – it is not an easy workout and you have to actually go to class to get results (duh), but if you commit to this workout you will build strength, burn fat, and reshape your entire body. I have gained a new respect for what it means to have a dancer’s body at Barre Releve – strong, lean, and graceful!

I purchased a groupon and after one class, I promptly asked groupon and received a pro-​rated refund for the remaining nine classes. This place is over-​rated. If you are new to exercise, want to meet new people, or don’t care about bad customer service, then try this place. But if you are a serious exerciser, don’t bother coming here.
They give misinformation and are not clear on anything. For example, it states on their website to bring a full size towel, but they never say what it is for. I emailed twice for an answer and never received a response the first time. The second email responded with «Bath towel or beach towel size will work.» No explanation as to what it is for.
The level one class is for amateurs. I’m an intermediate to advanced exerciser and workout consistently (not just barre, but various formats) and I felt the exercises were not done properly and wasted my time. The room is very small and overcrowded without any ventilation! I smelled all sorts of body odor the entire workout, which made it difficult for me to breathe properly.
The front desk person (mixed-​race overweight female) was very unfriendly to begin with then rude to me. She recommended five level one classes but ‘recommended’ is not the same as ‘mandatory’. Her lack of elementary school vocabulary wasted my time. I checked the website various times and no where on there did it state five level one classes is a prerequisite. It just said to the effect of ‘everyone starts at level one’ but never how many. Very unorganized indeed.
She refused to let me in the level two class and told me in front of everyone waiting that I could not handle a level two class because of the choreography. I watched the level two class after I did the level one class and it was the same exercises between the two classes! And who is she with her closed-​minded attitude to assume I could not do the choreography??? She never even bothered asking what is my experience. Then tells me it’s a misunderstanding. Yeah, misunderstanding on her part, not mine. I took the information from this business at face value and was deceived by them, and they want to turn it around and tell me it’s my fault!
I have never been turned away from any fitness class before. All other places I have been to are very welcoming. It’s always «do what you can, in time you will get stronger…» attitude, whether it was towards me or someone else. If you want to be a dance place, with prerequisites, then advertise yourself as such, not misrepresent yourself as barre fitness when you’re not.

Yea I finally completed all my ten classes that I had purchased from Groupon. I wanted to check this place out because of the reviews and this was my first ever class that I have ever had in this kind of way.
It was in between a mix of ballet, cardio, yoga and weights. It sounds pretty crazy but it all is within one hour which is nice. I took the early morning classes which on Monday is at 8:30 AM but Tuesday– Friday it is at 6:00 AM! Driving from La Mirada to here in the morning is much easier within traffic wise. But it still takes around 30 – 45 minutes depending on how fast I can drive. Parking is super easy and if you want you should park close to the Corner Bakery place.
For a lady has never been into dance or some kind of style of moving around I found this class to really make me learn how to follow positions and introduce me to a whole new world that I have never been before.
The teachers here are different they will push everyone to the limit and also correct your posture. The class is small size with maybe around 15 ish people and sometimes in the morning I have been in one where there was only about ⁶⁄₇ people. But still the class still goes on.
If this place wasn’t so far away I probably would of done the monthly classes! Still this is a place to try out and learn and see if you like it or not. To me I did enjoy myself.

I was so excited because I thought of a great Mothers day present for myself!!! I arranged for my husband to take my son to soccer, so that I could come take the Level 3 class at Barre Releve. To my disbelief, they TURNED ME AWAY!!! I am a certified group fitness instructor, dance teacher, yoga teacher, and cardio freak!!! But, they wouldn’t allow me to take a Level 3 class!!!
She said the rule is Level 1 first. I told her level 1 is too easy and, besides, I had to make special arrangements to get there this morning… I am so upset and offended that anyone would so easily turn me away. The woman at the desk was stone-​faced, unapologetic and didn’t even offer to call the owner to ask for an exception for me.
I told her that I was officially offended and that they had lost my business.
Good thing these barre studios are popping up on every corner… Maybe I’ll try a post-​Mothers’ Day treat in a month or so at Extend Barre, which is only 2 minutes away.

Absolutely wonderful teachers! Extremely challenging and the classes are fun!
The beginning classes felt like the advanced I took at other Barre companies!
Definitely worth it and they are on time with each of their scheduled times which is amazing as well! MUST TRY! I enjoy this much better than the gym and Jana was my first instructor there! Thanks to her I fell in love!
