Specialties
Our specialties are in dance and fitness classes, themed birthday parties and music lessons. We do group as well as private lessons in dance and have done everything from wedding first dances to flash mobs. We also offer group fitness classes seven days per week, such as Zumba and Ballet Barre. In both dance and fitness, we offer brownie and girl scout badges and try-its as well. Our themed birthday parties are highly engaging and tons of fun. We do everything from start to finish, including decorations, set-up/tear-down, invitations, birthday cake and more! Dance themed parties include hip hop, jazz, salsa, hula, ballet, ballet princess, cheerleading, zumba or customized to your desires. In addition, we offer voice lessons through Emerging Artists Theatre Academy.
History
Established in 2004.
Kick It Up began as a dream in early 2004. The idea was simple: To allow families to participate in fitness or dance together in a noncompetitive, friendly environment with caring & educated staff as well as small class sizes.
Today, Kick It Up has become a reality. With an offering of over 150 classes per week, interactive birthday parties, brownie and girl scout events and a scholarship fund, Kick It Up has grown into the studio it was meant to be… a second home where people can come together, learn and feel good about themselves. In 2012 — 2015, Kick It Up was named the Best Dance Studio, Best Health and Wellness Facility and Best Place for Kids by the Press Telegram, Beachcomber Newspaper and Fox 11 LA Hot List, and has been featured as one of the trend setting dance and fitness studios in Dance Teacher Magazine and Dance Studio Life.
Come and join us for a dance or fitness class soon. Remember, your first class is always free! We can’t wait to see you at Kick It Up!
Meet the Business Owner
Susan J.
Business Owner
Susan began dancing at age 4 and quickly fell in love with all forms of dance and dreamed of doing nothing else. Professionally dancing for numerous years, Susan began transitioning into teaching and quickly fell in love with teaching three year olds all the way up to adults. As a way to keep in shape and recover from injury, she began taking fitness classes and soon began teaching different formats of fitness as well. While completing her MBA at CSULB, Susan opened Kick It Up as the first noncompetitive fitness and dance studio in the area with the premise of dance and fitness classes for multiple levels and ages at the same time and in the same location.
