Can’t wait to stay here again! Super cool hotel I stayed in the Krazy dazy room that was super cute and comfortable! I loved that they had a restaurant and bar on site that we could walk to that offered old school dining and drinks! The food and drinks were all delicious!

*Quite possibly the coolest place I’ve ever been.
*BOOKED over the phone about a month in advance.
*ROOM 218 (CARIN) is BEAUTIFUL! It was a dream come true! lol For me, anyway. I love glitter and all things girly!!! The room was clean and looked just like the pictures. =)
*FOOD AT THE COPPER CAFE was not good. We had dinner & breakfast there. I think their desserts are definitely better than any of the food. Boysenberry & Peach Pies were yummy. However, I’d pass on the Raspberry (meh), Toffee (too sweet), or Banana Nut (literally like banana bread lol) cake flavors. Not my cup of tea. However, I love the Pink Champagne & Black Forest cakes! ESPECIALLY THE PINK CHAMPAGNE!
We didn’t try the steakhouse, but I’m sure we’ll be back soon. =) The gift shop with the souvenir cups is super cute — even the receipts are pink! Yay! lol

Very kitschy place. I would like to come back during the day to see what it looks like on the outside. It might be a different place to stay for a romantic weekend getaway. I have never checked out SLO. I will have to put it on the bucket list. They have a diner and a fancier restaurant and a bar with a dance floor. Décor was something different, which I appreciate.

Staying at the Madonna Inn was a bucket-​list item for me. With an affinity for all things kitschy, it was a must. So after a rough week at work and on a whim, I called and booked the Caveman Suite for my boyfriend and I.
The room was fun, but the rock shower/​waterfall/​sink aren’t that practical when actually being used. So, be forewarned.
Additionally, the service wasn’t all that great. We had an issue when checking out, and it has since been rectified by the daughter of the original owners (I’m totally blanking on her name).
It’s fun, but really, it’s not as magical as it seems. It’s also a bit pricy for what it is, but my affinity for kitsch will keep me coming back.

Loved this place. A great way to spend our anniversary. The amenities are great… a little on the expensive side but worth it

I just got out of the hospital, while I was in there my mom stayed at the Madonna Inn & I joined her when I was discharged. Knowing I was laid up the staff went out of their way for us. we got great rooms for me to stretch out, housekeeping checked daily if we needed anything even if it was just ice or water, & the café hurried our meals so I could take my meds with food. If you need to rehab anywhere & are from out of town this is the place :)
Seriously, a great place with everything you need on the grounds.

My Husband and I stopped by the Madonna Inn for our «mini Honeymoon» before leaving to Hawaii for our actual Honeymoon. We’ve been here a total of three times and it only gets better with every stay! I adore staying in the uniquely created Madonna Inn rooms, they have a whimsical feel to them that makes my heart happy!
The staff is extremely helpful and sweet. Whether it’s the staff checking us into our room, or the waiters/​waitresses from the Copper Café and Gold Rush Steak House.
When booking a room at Madonna Inn, look into what the room has to offer. It might be the cutest room with the colorful matching furniture. BUT what kind of shower does it have? Is there a balcony? Maybe a stone fireplace? These are MY musts when reserving a room at the Madonna Inn
*Waterfall Shower — Imagine showering beneath a beautiful waterfall. The water comes down from two separate locations, it feels amazing!
*Rock Shower — It’s soothing and relaxing, it’s hard not to stay in there for an hour. It’s also cave like but there’s only one shower faucet.
*Fireplace — Classic stone fireplace, when I say stone I mean beautiful boulders, arranged perfectly around a fireplace.
*Balcony — Enjoy a cup of coffee out on the balcony. View the sunrise/​sunset and have a lovely scenic view.

This is the second time staying here, so unique and fun in a weird tacky kind of way lol. It almost takes you into a scene of Fear in Loathing in Las Vegas. The pool is AWESOME, and so is the jacuzzi. I think you you ever go through the area it’s a must do just to say you’ve been there. We stayed in the «Still» room and also the «Falling Leaves» room as well. Both neat but we liked the Falling Leaves better. They also have a water softener which for me I love but some don’t. Just keep that in mind.

Particularly beautiful during the Christmas season, Madonna Inn is always a place I must stop by on my trips to SoCal. Extremely visible with its pink and fairy tale cottage-​like exterior, it’s a tourist attraction right by the freeway! The inn is known for its unique designs from the rooms that are all different to a waterfall urinal in the men’s bathroom (man, I wish I could see it). During Christmas time, lights are EVERYWHERE! It’s like a life-​size Barbie dollhouse. The employees are dressed up in old-​fashioned skirts and outfits, so cute! A truly unique place, I hope I can stay in the rooms one day.

We came for Christmas dinner with the family and had a fun time. My biggest complaint was the amount of time it took for the food to come out. We waited almost an hour and had people come tell us that food was coming from time to time but the clock kept ticking. We had our 2yo daughter with us and had to ask for her food to be brought first since it was taking so long. I realize it was Christmas so that may be why there was so much backup. The food was good but that may have been because we were starving! It is a fun place to visit but we probably will not return. It is a nice tourist place to check out one time. Cakes look better than they taste.

I have driven past this place countless times & heard about all it’s cool rooms. Hubs & I finally got to stay in the Madonna Inn to celebrate our 2.5 year anniversary. We needed a quick getaway from work so it seemed perfect!
We got placed in the mini maxi room, which was pure pink delight mixed in with a stone fireplace & shower stall. I’ll tell ya, it was real weird showering in what felt like a cave, haha. They even supplied a bidet & pink fluffy bathrobes. I honestly loved every gaudy detail down to the wallpaper: P
If you get a chance, take a dip in the pool at the top. It has a flippin’ waterfall as well. It was too early for us to partake in the bar though…
Also, the dudes in your lives need to go pee in the waterfall in the public bathroom. It’s an experience to check off, haha!
I’d love to come back & stay at the Madonna Inn again for a special occasion :)

I’m such a whore when it comes to pit-​stopping here while en route from Los Angeles to San Francisco, or vice versa. Ditto when it comes to their sit-​down café food and dessert displays of cakes and pies — the voluptuous kinds. I do wish all employees acted the same. Some of the gift shop sales reps treat us like swine if we don’t look like we intend on buying something. «Are you staying here at the hotel or passing through?» But asked in a patronizing, downhearted way. Then, just the opposite, the waitresses at the café will give you a million dollar smile and bend over backwards for you. If I go up to the dessert displays, and say, «Let me check with the wife what she wants, I’ll be back in a moment,» a moment later — they disappear because they don’t seriously think you’re coming back. It’s all in such a We-​Must-​Be-​Little-​More-​Than-​Urchins way. Then, another pie guy will be ecstatic to help you. Next visit, the waitress is Supergirl. It’s so Topsy-​Turvy at the Madonna Inn. But I’m such a whore — I love the gaudiness of this place, it’s playtime for the young at heart. And I see a bunch of others that are whores to see the Waterfall Urinal in the Men’s Bathroom; it’s notorious. See, there are ordinary, everyday mens’ urinals, and then there’s the waterfall in there. So… really, I love to relieve myself at Madonna. And then there’s always these husbands that sneak their wives into the Men’s Room because they’re curious about it, too. I’d take a pic of this waterfall, but I realized I can’t because I treat it sacred.
Besides the waterfall, do get yourself a Chicken Sandwich, French Fries, Coffee, and a fat slice of German Chocolate Pie or what-​have-​you, and a Hot Toddy Truffle and Pecan Caramel Rolls for the road, or whatever your heart’s desire. You behave in excess at Madonna, it’s what’s expected. Like I probably used the word «whore» too many times in this review. But really, at Madonna Inn, you don’t hold back. And you go upstairs and buy yourself cowboy boots or some ostentatious coat. I love stopping here, really, can’t you tell? One day I’m actually going to stay here overnight. (Final Note: You tourists that have come to San Luis Obispo to see the Hearst Castle, the answer is YES, you’re in reasonable proximity in distance to there.) #goodtimes

Still the happiest place in all the land for me and my honey! So damned happy that last Thanksgiving, he popped the question in the Tall & Short room.
Granted, he had to wait for me to stop playing with the bidet and taking photos in the bathroom of the awesome tile and sink décor. but he waited patiently, on bended knee. for like 10 mins. right outside the bathroom door with ring in hand and TA-​DAH. T. A is about to become T. C ya’ll!
So we went back this year to taste cake selections and do some planning. We also took the time to eat at the steakhouse, as last year we were a lil apprehensive based on the reviews for the holiday meal. I’m so glad we tried it out because it was fantastic! The ONLY complaint I have about that delicious meal was their buns were cold. We had even asked one of the bus boys to get us some heated and we know he tried like crazy and it just wasn’t happening. Ya’ll better have those buns HOT at my wedding or Bridezilla is bustin loose (kidding!)
I had the filet mignon w/​lobster and both were simply succulent. My man had the Rib Eye and fully enjoyed it. We left filled with meat and potatoes as one should on Thanksgiving. No, we didn’t eat our veggies and you know what? Fuck you for judging us! :p
Our meeting with the banquet chickie went well and she was very attentive to our needs. We still have many months to plan but we narrowed down our selections for dinner and cakes and I just know all will turn out great. Best believe I’ll be back to give a review on their wedding service.

The Vous Room (blue, circular, way too shaggy carpet, poor circulation)
The Anniversary Room (floral, pretty, great air flow!)
Tall & Short (lights up like you’re living inside a ruby gem with the sun shines thru! hella pink)
Wilhelm Tell (cute, very detailed, kinda smallish, no bidet. boo!)
China Flower (least fave, in bldg 1 which felt dated and hella dark).

I’ve had the pleasure of staying at the Madonna Inn twice now– once in the glitzy green Buffalo room for a wedding anniversary and a second time in the Caveman room for a birthday. Both visits were incredibly fun and I am hoping to return again next year with the goal of staying in as many rooms as possible at the Madonna Inn.
The accommodations here are fabulous, whether you are staying a highly sought out room or one of their less popular quarters. The Buffalo room was filled with deep green furnishings, a delightful lantern lamp reminiscent of camping (maybe glamping), the head of a buffalo that previously lived on the property, and a light glitter ceiling we could not get over. The Caveman room was full of rock walls/​floors, waterfalls, a deer skin chair, gaudy animal print on the curtains, lamp, etc. and 2 clubs that could be possible murder weapons in the wrong hands. We really loved the rock shower in this room; it had two separate sprays and wasn’t very drought friendly. but the waterfall felt so good! There are two other waterfalls located in the bathroom– one in the sink (you will be splashed) and another as a urinal that delighted my husband. At least we hope it was a urinal. The fourth waterfall is located in the bedroom and can create somewhat of a musty smell which quickly goes away if you crack the window. Between the stained glass caveman window and the Flinestones vibe we truly loved this room.
*If you do want a really popular room try to book it about 6 months in advance
We also enjoyed massages on our second visit. While expensive they seemed to be worth every penny; we experienced a Mama massage and Butter Me Up in the same room with two sweet massage therapists. They seemed to basically be the same massage except that I laid on my side for the prenatal and my husband could lay on his stomach. Lots of cocoa butter and relaxing; my back felt better than it has in months afterwards. The tea and cookies was the perfect ending. Take advantage of the delicious smelling shower scrub before your massage.
Gold Rush Steakhouse is a lot of fun and while it is pricey it wasn’t insane; they seem to understand there are other great dining choices in the area. Expect to pay roughly $ 40 for a steak dinner; chocolate cake is free of charge for birthdays. Food was very good for a hotel restaurant. Sitting in the pink booths is a special treat; be sure to make a reservation if you know you want to dine there. We’ve also had breakfast twice now at the Copper Café; my husband adores their coffee and their delicious (very large) breakfasts are plentiful. I love the décor, which seems to go for the entire hotel. so many little details like the pink sugar, copper tables, glitzy goblets (grab one in the giftshop!), etc.
We’ve only stayed one night on our visits (the rooms are a $$$!) but you can have a superb time even if it’s limited. At 12 pm we stopped first at the pool (use your room key to get in), signed out 2 towels at the pool bar (so they don’t charge you for missing towels in your room), and then completed the check out process– just leave someone at the pool to open the gate for the person checking out. In November the pool was very empty even though it was heated and almost 80 degrees that day. We’ve also gone swimming at night, which is a lot of fun. Hot tubs are also empty and very chill. The bathrooms are large and easy to change in if you have checked out. We stayed several hours after checking out and felt wonderful as we made our trip back to LA.
Before leaving you may want to grab a piece of creamy pink champagne cake to go if you haven’t tried it yet. We indulged when we finished the drive home and it was one of the best cake slices I’ve ever tasted.

First of all, i cant wait to come back! I stayed overnight with a friend and my family and it was one of my favorite hotel experiences. We stayed in room 139, the Jungle Rock Room. We had so much fun fooling around and we even found a small curve in the wall near one of the beds which we sat in. Another awesome thing about the room was the rock waterfall shower. It was like a mini waterfall! (With clean water though ;)) The water also even went… everywhere which is a small con, but we could deal with it.
We were also very close to the pool which was so awesome! Its even heated year round, but if you find the pool too cold, there are two jacuzzi’s, one is a bit hidden and when you turn the bubbles on, a bunch of awesome foam forms, and we fooled around with it by covering our faces with it (we made ourselves hats & Santa beards!)
Next to the pool is a fitness room. It is complete with two treadmills, one elliptical, one bike machine (sort– of), weights, exercise balls, a security camera and a crab ton of water and towels. It was a bit hard to get into though, we had to insert the key card several times before it opened. (Hours are 5 a. m — 11 p. m)
Yet another awesome thing about the Madonna Inn is their incredibly fast and helpful room service, other than the fact they don’t have any pencils.(Yes I asked for a pencil, I needed to finish my history project.) We asked for pool towels several times and they came in less than 5 minuets even when it was raining (Again, yes, we swam in the rain.)
I would also write about the café, being as we had a lovely breakfast there, but I will post it shortly under the Madonna Inn Copper Café.

Love the Madonna Inn. I’ve been coming here since I was a baby, nothing has changed and that’s a really good thing. It’s still flashy, classy and fun. Alex and Phyllis are legends, they transformed San Louis Obispo. Phyllis is still alive and well and she runs a foundation to help battered women get back on their feet. The Madonnas, who own the Madonna Inn, are such incredible people who have done so much in San Louis Obispo. It’s easy to be distracted by the décor and over see all the hand crafted beauty. Throughout the interior there are hand carved wooden sculptures that are integrated as architectural elements. Bronze statues, custom textile designs, unique glass fixtures. I love that the Madonna Inn still produces colorful American made glass goblets in large and small sizes, around 22 colors. They also produce milk glass and iridescent colored goblets.
I’ve never stayed at the Madonna Inn, but I always stop by for breakfast or lunch on my way to or from San Francisco off the 101. It’s well worth the drive because they have the best breakfast and lunch! I recommend getting their corned beef hash, pancakes and french dip sandwiches and definitely do not miss out on the pink champagne cake which you can get by the slice! All the beef is from the Madonna ranch. The Pink Champagne cake is the best cake I’ve ever had in my life. It’s crazy how simple the flavor is and how I’ve never managed to find another cake in the world like it. It’s truly one of a kind. If I had a million bucks I’d buy that recipe!
It’s still one of my favorite places in the world, I plan on staying in the rooms one day, but I guess my point is you don’t have to stay at the Madonna Inn to appreciate the Madonna Inn. There’s three levels to explore filled with shops and art. Even if you don’t eat at the Copper Café I recommend getting some goodies from the bakery or at least a slice of the Champagne Cake to go! Read up on the family, they’re a pretty big deal.

Would I stay here again? Yes, but only because I’m curious about all the other rooms since they are all unique.
Pros– I got to town early and they were able to get me into my room 2 ½ hours before check-​In and even called me when my room was ready. The 2 people who I interacted with during the check-​in process were very professional and polite and I really appreciate that in a customer service professional.
We stayed in the Jungle Rock room and it was pretty cool. The rock waterfall shower was gorgeous and a unique experience!
Cons– This place is entirely too overpriced. We’ve stayed in some very nice hotels before that were much less expensive and offered more amenities. I’m not sure how they justify charging upwards of $ 280+ on a Monday night for this room AND a $ 16 resort fee per night… I mean the shower was cool… But what did we just pay over $ 300 for… not quite sure. They use the crappiest toilet paper that shreds to pieces when you wipe and our mini fridge was sitting wobbly on top of an old night stand. It just didn’t scream «worth $ 300!!» To me… The rock waterfall shower got water ALL OVER the entire bathroom floor… We had to use every single towel in the room to dry it… AND the jungle style bedding as shown on their website was not on the beds in the room.
But like I said, we’d probably still stay here again to check out some other rooms and the staff was nice and the room was clean.

Oh wow! I am amazed by this cute girlie hotel for grown ups! I love how each room has a theme! Everything is sensational here! Horse back riding, gift shops, bars, food, and dancing! How fun! The room was clean and so pretty! I love the bathroom floor and sink! So super sweet! I slept in the short & tall room! My favorite color pink! Thank you for such a friendly staff!

Madonna Inn feels like a mix of one of those old roadside attraction postcards, the kitschy room Grandma didn’t let you in, that weird in-​between area between Fantasyland and Frontierland, and a gay cowboy’s dollhouse… all in a good way, of course.

ROOMS
The décor was impressive – especially loved the long vinyl couch. Very roomy. And having central air conditioning is incredible– I’m used to the big loud clunky units. And strong wi-​fi is stellar …BUT water pressure could be harder. The walls are thin so neighbors can be noisy. And wish the plugs weren’t connected to the switch. I turned off the lights and my phone went to bed.
POOL
Loved the pool, which was perfectly heated, very clean, and had the gradual walk-​in feature that made me feel very Kardashian (that, and my big ass). Surprised there was no oily film considering people had drinks. Maybe that’s because nobody wanted to spill a drop they were so expensive. The pair of hot tubs were hot. Great view (albeit a freeway when standing up)… and a cool waterfall that quadruples in flow every hour like a wet cuckoo clock. …BUT the pool bar would be more inviting if it opened to the pool. Tearing down the wall would make the bar look less like a cottage and would surely make it more accessible, and more appealing to actually stay and drink the $ 10 drinks (ouch).
WINE TASTING
Usually a wine tasting room has a gift shop. This is definitely a gift shop with a wine tasting area… designed to only serve two, but you at least get stools (usually only true bars can offer a seat). Five good pours of personally selected, mostly good tasting wines for $ 10 was very fair.
BAR
Comfortable, fun, met some nice locals, great service from a total character named Brad with eyes as big as his grin, with a Tom Kinney-​look and a Paul Lynde essence.
