Courtyard San Luis Obispo

Well well well… We asked for a king suite for our stay and when we got to the reception NO king king room so we got a double room… ok so next i go to inspect the room. NASTY! For non smoking rooms there were ashes in the tiolet and black hair all over the bathtub… for what we paid we aint staying here again!

Absolutely horrible experience! I prepaid for a room through priceline, when I got to the hotel they had an issue running my debit card. I asked them repeatedly to run it as debit not credit. The extremely arrogant front desk person chose not to listen. I then asked if they could take the despot in cash, and was referred to the Motel 6 next door. As of that point, I probably would have been better off at Motel 6 as they probably had better customer service. After much back and fourth ended up losing 120.00, and driving to morro bay to a hotel that had no problem processing my card, I am very disappointed. I expected more from Mariott. Avoid this hotel by all means! Rude and Unfriendly staff. Save your money and time!

Marriott is always our family go to when on travel. I’m usually always happy with the ample parking, bistro, rooms, bathrooms, etc. We stayed at this location for 5 days and 4 nights. It was during our son’s spring break and we ventured areas of Pismo, SLO, Avila Beach, and Oceano. I wasn’t too familiar with any of those areas, but chose SLO based on its location, and the fact they had a Marriott!
They are doing a lot of construction on the road entrance to get to the hotel. Once that is one, it’ll be really nice access for hotel guests. One thing that was a disappointment was that the bistro was closed due to renovation. We really like having breakfast here at least once when we stay at one. (I love their french toast!). They did offer complimentary continental breakfast (coffee, pastries, juice). It wasn’t the same, but it still was nice of them.
The front desk attendants were nice each time I called them and during check in. I have zero complaints. They greeted us with a smile and informed us of the bistro situation. (They always thank me for being a Marriott rewards member) :)
We had a room on the 2^nd floor. I requested a balcony room and we got a pretty nice one facing the pool. We did use the pool once. It was pretty windy in the area but a short swim never hurt anyone. The temperature seemed to stay the same in the room (ac running on auto). Felt comfortable.
Overall, I am a fan of the Marriott hotels and happy we chose this location. Family friendly and a great centralized location for a visit to the central coast. The price is reasonable and don’t forget to sign up for Marriott rewards.

Horrible customer service. Completely unsympathetic to my needing to cancel one of three nights with them. Poor business sense. I canceled all three nights because they would not waive the full night sleep the first night. I’m sure they have more business than they need.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a night on our wine tasting trip. We were very happy with the service as well as the cleanliness of the hotel. The interior is very modern, amenities are up to date, and the beds are very comfortable. The hotel is also in a quiet location which made sleeping in VERY easy and enjoyable.
The best part about our stay was the level of customer service we received from Michele. She assisted us both upon check in and check out. Michele has a lovely and positive vibe and she is extremely sweet. You can tell just by talking to her that she’s a warm and sincere person. She’s also extremely helpful with no hesitation in her response. Customer service is EVERYTHING for my boyfriend and me, and we will be coming back and staying at the Courtyard San Luis Obispo largely because of Michele.

Hotel currently under renovation. Bar is open but dining area limited. Call for status if you are going to use restaurant. Staff is great and room renovations are nice with the exception of the task chairs. Task chairs are leaning forward and tight to sit in. They are adjustable but uncomfortable to work or sit in. Just frustrated I couldn’t sit at desk comfortably to work. Renovation is turning out nice though.

The rooms are nice, mini-​fridge and microwave, a nice loveseat and a desk. The bed was king sized and the tv was HD. The breakfast buffet was $ 10 and it was OK, not the greatest, but edible.
The lobby is being remodeled, so it seems a bit crowded, but change requies action.

Call before you go and ask if they are still renovating. If they are still renovating — I would highly recommend finding another place. My trip was in Jan 2016 and the place was under major renovation.
When we checked in, we were offered ear plugs — that was the first sign that things were not normal. Then came the loud construction noises. The hallway to our room smelled like paint fumes, pieces of torn wallpaper were on the floor, and caution tape was blocking corridors. Hmmm, the management might want to rethink letting people stay in the areas that are being updated.

We have stayed here 3 times now. The front desk staff is very friendly & accommodating. We checked in early and got one of the newly remodeled rooms. It was spacious and very clean. This location is convenient & right off the freeway. After a very long day I stopped by the bar to grab a drink. I got a lemon drop. It was only $ 5.40 since it was during happy hour. The bartender was friendly & attentive. This is our favorite place to stay when visiting our daughter who is going to college here. It is close to her apartment and the accommodations are a good value for the price. Beds are comfy and there are microwaves, coffee maker, and frig in each room.

Picked this room up late through Priceline on our way home after a long drive down Hwy 1. The front desk staff was friendly and the check in process was fast. We wandered down the newly renovated hall to our room, opened the door and found a man asleep on the couch! Whoa!!! Completely freaked out we rushed back toward the elevator but he chased after us. He was a maintenance worker who was snoozing while charging his phone. We took the room, barricaded the door with our luggage and struggled to fall asleep. Aside from the stranger inside, the room was newly renovated with a clean, comfortable king sized bed and a twin sized pull out couch. The a/​c was super loud, but drowned out the noise for any surrounding rooms.

My fiancé and I came here for Christmas dinner after finding out that Margie’s Diner was closed. The waitress was nice and got our drinks quickly, but as we tried to order dinner it took her an hour to notice that we weren’t here just for drinks. As we were only the 2^nd party when we arrived I was quite upset. When our plates came out, we both ordered medium rare steaks, mine was cooked just right but my fiancé had to send hers back as it was well instead of medium rare. We waited another 30 minutes for her steak. I’m sorry to say but I’ve had better service at Denny’s. We will definitely not be coming back anytime soon.

As the «Duke» of this place, I’ve finally reached my breaking point. My room smelled of BO when I checked in this last time. No other rooms available. My room was missing a hairdryer and the coffee table — weird.
Two days into my three day stay, I get back from a really long day. My room is EMPTY!!! They checked me out and removed all of my stuff for no reason at all!!! Not to mention they threw out my pain medicine that was in the fridge.
No manager on duty. After the incompetent woman at the front desk finally found all of things (nicely thrown into a garbage bag) I was told my stay was comp’d.
Woke up to a bill for 2 of the 3 nights.
Don’t stay here. Even if your loyal to Marrriot. I’m Platinum Elete — for life! And this is how I’m treated at his poor excuse for a Marriott.

Just stayed here for one night and was thoroughly impressed! Our check-​in was fantastic!
We had a very cute, sweet, energetic girl name Amber check us in. She immediately decided to upgrade us to a nicer room and gave us 3 choices. She also noticed that we were not signed up for the breakfast in the morning and went ahead and gave us 2 free breakfasts, just because… we didn’t even ask. She couldn’t have been nicer. On our way to our room we were greeted by friendly staff all the way down the hall. The room itself was immaculate and very spacious and comfortable. The next morning we enjoyed our free breakfast (thanks to Amber) than sat out by the pool. When we checked out, we were once again treated with the utmost respect by the front desk. It was just a GREAT experience and I would definitely stay here again!

We are doing highway 1 and found the place through priceline, all we wanted was a place to rest our heads and found a very hospitable staff (even when checking in at 10pm) a very nice, spacious and clean room (clean rooms are very important for us). We used the free internet in the place and had a good night sleep. We didn’t use the pool but it looked inviting.

the absolute worst Marriott experience I have hands down had in my entire life, with the most incompetent staff on hand.
As a platinum Marriott member I have stayed in many a Marriott but never was given such a horrible staff to deal with. rude. not trained.entitled. horrible

Honestly, I’m kind of disappointed, the only reason for a 2 star is the friendly staff, everything else felt like an old dirty motel, not something I expected of the Marriott brand. We checked in and the person who helped was very nice and fast, we got keys and went off to go to our room. This is when the issue started, it smelled like sweaty people in the hallways, so i was hoping the room would’ve better and someone smelly had just passed by, it was the same in the room, I don’t know if the moisture in the air was causing that, but it wasn’t pleasant and not what I expect out of the Marriott brand… We basically had to sleep with window open to air out the nasty smell… It was so bad that my wife insisted I look for bed bugs, since it felt old and muggy… People in town were impressed we were staying at Marriott, saying its one of the best they got, but honestly, I don’t know what they were thinking… Not worth the price… This would have been a 1 star review if not for the staff being helpful

I travel to this hotel often for work and by far this is my least favorite courtyard. Cellular service for AT&T and Verizon have 2 – 3 bars max and the hotel offers weak wifi and no «upgrade» option which makes it difficult to work. As a platinum member, they don’t offer a 500 bonus points option, just a free item out of the market. I prefer points. Lastly, you can’t use an earned certificate at this local because they consider themselves a higher «tier». I’m sorry to say that this property cannot go on location alone. This is your run of the mill courtyard.

Upon check-​in, the receptionist was very nice and helpful. The room that we got was facing the pool area, which is nice, but unfortunately for me it was too cold for me to swim. Our room was clean and quite, which is perfect for a relaxing vacation away from the city noises.
We had our dinner and breakfast in the hotel, which I feel was worth it. Their dinner was delicious and the plate was big. It was worth every penny we spent!!!
I recommended this hotel for a nice short vacation. :)

So, I was in SLO for my bro’s wedding and the fam and I stayed at THE Marriott Courtyard.
The facility is nicely maintained, staff friendly and over-​sized family room is decent, nothing special, but better than Motel 6 or similar piles of crap.
The A/​C was very loud and annoying (good thing I had many beers the night of the wedding, couldn’t hear a thing that night!)
I’m a hotel snob, but this Marriott, despite its shortcomings was fine for a family weekend away (my wife slept in another bed with kid #1.)
3 stars = A-​OK + plus one extra star for the housekeeper who had to clean up my coffee mess in the elevator = «Yay! I’m a fan = 4 stars!»
4 stars.

Dear Poly Parents and passers-​by: why slum it downtown when you can stay in style at the Marriott just a couple miles south? We had a pleasant and relaxing stay here on our most recent trip. While all the downtown hotels were fully booked or charging exorbitant rates we got a great rate here. The staff were friendly and professional, the rooms were large with upscale furnishings and decoration, and the lobby and lounge areas were spacious and inviting. We typically don’t ever work out or swim at the hotels we stay at but the recreational facilities were above average and well maintained.

Despite its premium lineage the rates at this Marriott are competitive with the hoi polloi hotels closer to campus. Face it, you’re not going to be walking from your hotel to campus anyway but you will probably need to stop at the shopping center (Costco, Target, Home Depot) which is right near the Marriott, so why pay the premium to be near the campus and downtown?
If you are into road biking like I am an added benefit of staying at the Marriott is its location right off Los Osos Valley Rd which leads to Morro Bay and also connects with West Foothill Blvd into town. SLO is an extremely bike-​friendly town with bike lanes galore and mountain trails too. It’s one of the best biking places I know of.
Marriott runs the best hotel chain IMO and I rate this Courtyard a 5.0. My only complaint is that it’s not their Residence Inn product, where the rooms are even bigger and they have a free full breakfast. Give them a try on your next trip to SLO, you will be happy here!
