72 Degrees Cooper Brothers

Man, I had a really good experience with Troy Cooper. We had a little emergency in that PG&E determined we had a hazard and turned off gas to our heater. Long story short, Troy got out to our place in a flash, determined what the problem was quickly, and gave my wife and I some options. We went with the «replace it all» option, given that our unit was really old. He broke out the quote, he and his brother came out 2 days later and fixed it in a very quick timeframe. We ended up paying a little less than he quoted originally. That’s a first from a service organization… I’m keeping his business card and sharing the next time a friend or neighbor need service. Thanks!

At this time I am only writing a review based on the free in home estimate, but it’s worth it. Today we had Shaun come out and write up an estimate for our new heating and AC. He was on time, friendly and very considerate of our dogs and toddler running around. He was thorough and made sure to get all the details correct to give us the best estimate he could. He stayed as long as we needed, after he was done with the write up, to answer all of our questions. Not a salesman attitude, so we felt very comfortable with the extensive advice he was giving. Very good first impression with this company.
Also, response time, scheduling and communicating with the office staff was all first rate.

72 Degrees recently replaced my Elderly Mother’s 50 year old Furnace. They were the only
company able to book an appointment during the Holidays. They arrived on time with three (3) employees, performed the entire replacement (including a new thermostat) in about 2+
hours and did a GREAT job. Job site was thoroughly clean when they left and their price was
$ 500 less than others I had bid on the job.
Mitch and his team were fantastic and I plan to use them for all my future Furnace needs.

Very happy with my service. They had to replace the unit on the roof of my condo building as well as the heat exchanger in the ceiling of my walk in closet. They needed to do a LOT of work to replace the unit because my building is old. Both guys were fantastic, although I only know Mitch’s name. They called and let me know ETA for that morning and gave me status updates throughout the day. They also cleaned up after themselves (yay!), and put down a clean drop cloth on my carpet so they didn’t track in dirt. They offered to put on shoe covers, too, but I didn’t think that was necessary.
Overall, great experience and I will definitely use them again.

In 2012 we had 72 degrees install a pair of AC units for our home. The workmanship was done with care, and the guys were very helpful in answering our questions.
Over the past three years we worked with them for other smaller projects (tune-​ups etc) and the same level of great service continues.
They are friendly. knowledgeable and more importunately — they are on time

On April 27^th Shaun, a sales rep from Cooper Brother’s, Inc., thoroughly inspected our heater and air conditioning equipment and the original heating ducts which were installed in 1967 and housed in the home crawl space. Our concern prompting our call to the Cooper Brother’s 72 Degrees was what the process was to safely remove the asbestos wrapped ducts and installing a completely new system. After crawling around under our house, Shaun was extremely thorough in describing the pictures he took of the duct system’s condition.
He explained his role in the duct removal process, the office staff’s role in calling the abatement company, role of the abatement company and the office staff’s role in calling the the third party to give the final inspection & file the completion report to the state so everyone’s work would be in compliance with «CA Title 24».
Shaun was a treasure trove of information and guidance from his experience, which was beyond what his youthful appearance had me initially believe. He spoke slowly and thoughtfully wanting me to understand the condition and workings of my HVAC system and how new ducts would support the effort of the system. He clarified my questions and reviewed his paper work agreement. He was a thorough and deliberate which left us with a strong positive reflection of the company he represented. We were hoping the installers would be a reflection of what he presented to us.
Within 6 days of our meeting with Shaun, the abatement crew came and disposed of the asbestos wrapped ducts. The crew was extremely professional in their demeanor, clean and organized with their work, quiet spoken and pleasant. They were the quality of worker I would enjoy being in my home. They sealed off all the inside air ducts, used a very quiet vacuum to remove the air in the crawl space, bagged all removed materials and disposed of them.
On day 7 the owners Mitchell and Troy and one other associate, arrived at 8:00am and for the next 6.5 hours installed the new duct system. They were everything reflected to us. You could not have better professional, efficient, friendly, knowledgeable, and patient workers in your home than these gentlemen. We took numerous photos of the duct material inside and out and of them working. They were patient with all questions asked and even offered some alternative heating/​cooling options for our garage.
All around we trust in the work performed and will continue to have them service our heating and air conditioning systems. We are experiencing relief knowing we have a very conscientious family operated group of folks who employ like individuals to come into other folks homes to maintain and install comfort equipment.

Shaun and the 72 Degrees team provided us with excellent service. We asked them to come give us an estimate for an attic fan. Shaun arrived on time and asked what our needs were. He explained the differences between a whole house fan and an attic fan, and I asked him to provide quotes for each. He climbed up to check the attic and also inspected our electrical system. He asked the type of unit (solar or electrical) we would like and explained how each worked. Ultimately, we weren’t able to have one installed, because we are renting, but the prices were very competitive. They also referred a few contractors to install installation. I felt respected and safe, which is always a bonus when a stranger comes in to my house to tell me about something I have no clue about! I really appreciated that Shaun answered all my questions with patience, including when I followed up over the phone a few times.

I have used 72 Degrees (Cooper Brothers) twice in the past 5 years to replace furnace units at two different properties. There are companies out there who will charge a bit less, but you get what you pay for.
For the latest furnace replacement, they were conscious of my budget and when I mentioned that I was disappointed at how I felt that the company that my 1-​year home warranty insurance suggested was over-​charging me, they suggested I ask for the cash-​in-​lieu option and use the cash toward service with them. Of course it’s a win for them, but the insurance company hadn’t even mentioned that option, so I was grateful.
Corey and Gary came to install the furnace and did a very thorough job. I asked their advice on whether to use drywall or cement board to re-​face the platform that the furnace sits on. They suggested sheet metal. When the install was done, they had re-​faced the platform with sheet metal – what a nice surprise!
A couple days after the installation, I thought I smelled gas and called the company to ask about it. That same day, they sent someone out to double-​check. Again, no charge. They said they want to ensure the furnace is safe.
The inspection of the furnace passed, but the inspector had a couple minor suggestions. I called 72 Degrees and Maria scheduled an appointment to come out the following week to complete the work, which happened today. After Shawn had finished the requested adjustments, I asked him where to buy the insulation wrap that 72 degrees had used (a second large pipe in the garage, done by the company who installed the duct work in the attic, was just left with yellow fiberglass insulation around it, which is already beginning to get dirty and come off, so I wanted to add the same insulation wrap myself). Shawn said «let me check what I have in my truck,» and offered to wrap the other pipe with the insulating foil too. Remember this is a pipe that 72 degrees had nothing to do with originally. He said that it’s best for the high-​efficiency system I had purchased to have the pipes insulated properly, so he went ahead and did it.
This company continually goes above and beyond for their customers. You might pay a little more, but you’ll be happy you did.

I bought two mini split air conditioners over the internet. When it came time to have them installed I discovered many companies would not do this unless you bought the air conditioners from them. 72 Degrees Cooper Brothers was the exception, Mitch Cooper came out, looked the situation over and gave a bid which I though was a bit high at the time but he seemed very competent. I elected to have him do the work and was very pleased. To begin with it involved a lot more than I realized so his bid was actually quite reasonable. He did a great job on the installation and then asked to comp out when the electricity was turned on in the addition to our house. He wanted to be there to make sure everything worked fine. A couple of weeks later the addition was finished and he came out as promised, at no extra charge, and made sure everything ran fine — it did. I was very pleased with the service he provided and would highly recommend him to anyone with heating or air conditioning needs.

Excellent work. fair value. Very clean job. They did explain everything in details. Not a rush job. They were prompt and follow up was great.

I can’t say enough good things about 72 Degrees. Shawn came out to give us an estimate to install air conditioning, and gave us a very detailed overview of the equipment we needed, the installation process and the placement of the condenser. He even came out a second time, to answer some additional questions. I had a prior quote from another company and discovered that they quoted the wrong equipment and recommending installing the condenser in an location that would not meet code. In addition, Shawn’s quote was $ 800 less than the competition. During the installation they discovered that it wouldn’t be possible to do part of the installation as planned from a cosmetic perspective, but they cared enough to come up with a solution that was absolutely awesome. I trust this company’s integrity and quality and will use them for all of my heating/​cooling requirements.

72 degrees is not only cheaper, but thorugh! My air conditioner hadn’t cleaned by the other company, for years. Pine needles had never been cleaned out in years!!! sales worker was efficient and polite. I am a renter, but I will tell my landlord to use 72 degrees from now on !!!

We’ve had 72 Degrees Cooper Brothers work on our heater a couple of times. The same guy came each time. Young but seems extremely knowledgeable and competent. They try to sell you a monthly service package (~$ 100/​year). I bought that.
One disappointment is that the yearly package supposedly includes a new filter and replacement of that filter. My heater came with a 4″ thick filter, but I found out after the fact that they would only replace it with a 1″ thick filter – and the service person did not have even a 1″ filter in the right size. So, I had an extra filter that he ended up using, but it seems like I’m not getting everything I paid for.
My rating would have 5-​stars except for the filter problem.

I am very pleased with the furnace and installation I purchased from 72 Degrees Cooper Bros. The technician’s inspection of my 50 year old furnace was very thorough (disassembled much of the furnace). Together we decided it would be a good investment to get a new one. The owners helped me to select the best heater to achieve my objectives. I purchased, not the simplest nor the most complex unit, but one that gives me just what performance I wanted. The air discharge is quiet – very important to me. The size selection was perfect, as well. They rebuilt the discharge plenum beautifully – original not very good. They replaced some ducts with flexible ducts that help me when I need to crawl under them to inspect under the house. Excellent products and workmanship.

I used 72 Degrees Cooper Brothers to check my furnace. I was impressed by their pleasant communication in setting the appointment. The technician who came was a nice, clean-​cut guy. After inspecting the furnace, he explained everything to me very clearly, including his opinion of how much longer the furnace might last, and one problem area to be addressed. I know the company does background checks on all employees and trains them well, so that gave me a great level of comfort in having a stranger in my home. I was very pleased with the service, the price, and the communication, and will be using 72 Degrees Cooper Brothers in the future.

I absolutely love this company! They were remarkable. Shawn was prompt. He was friendly and knowledgeable. Their tech team came out and did the tear down and install. All within a reasonable time. We had our 47 year old duct work completely replaced and a dual zone system installed. It was a big job and I had actually expected it to take longer than they did it in. It took less than a day and a half. And the price was very reasonable. All in all, I would say that Cooper Brothers is an exceptional company and I would highly suggest them to everyone!

Had our unit serviced for maintenance early August. The young man who helped us was courteous and helpful. Went to put the AC on yesterday as we are having a heat wave. We had circulating air but the AC unit was not working. Couldn’t call yesterday because it was Sunday but called today and was able to have someone come over to see what was up. As it turned out the circuit breaker was tripped and the technician-​John figured it out in less than 5 minutes. He was very pleasant and gave us contact information in case we ever had any problems with the AC or heating units. August was the first time we used 72 degrees when they sent out a postcard mailer offering maintenance at an affordable price. We will definitely stick with this company.

I contacted them on a Monday morning. That same afternoon they had their tech Shawn come out and check out our broken heater. Our heater hasn’t worked since we moved into out office a year ago. Shawn went up and took a look. He found the heater was infested with wasp nests! He took photos and explains why they were preventing the heater from working. Within an hour we had our heater up and running. He provided me with a detailed scope of work and sent me the photos. All this helped me get a refund with my landlord. Thanks Cooper Brothers and Shawn!

I cannot say enough about how wonderful the Cooper Brothers are. We did a lot of research and got three estimates from different companies for a complicated job changing out a huge 40 year-​old «packaged» unit on the side of our Los Altos home.
Cooper Bros had come highly recommended from friends, and although their estimate was a bit higher than the others, they had a clear and thoughtful plan for how they would complete the job.
They spent four full days on the job, changing out all the duct work and replacing our huge, old AC/​furnace industrial-​sized machine, however the city wouldn’t sign off on the job because suddenly they are implementing decibel requirements, code which the city had previously ignored.
The Cooper Bros were apologetic, immediately came to discuss the problem and the options, and at their cost, changed out the entire system again, this time installing a furnace in the attic and the AC outside which meets our city’s decibel requirements.
We now have a warm and comfortable new system which is incredibly quiet and is much less visible than what we had previously.
The family of brothers (Troy, Cory, Mitch and son Cameron) have all worked on our project, spending now six long days in our home. They were thoughtful, professional, respectful of our home, and thorough. They patiently answered questions and worked through the difficulties of this project with good humor, patience and integrity. I highly recommend their company and their work.

My air conditioning stopped blowing cool air, so I called Cooper Brothers. Shawn arrived on-​time, and was very polite and friendly. He tested the system, and recommended adding freon and cleaning the coils. I agreed to that, but declined his attempts at up-​selling, including a $ 2,600 dual-​zone system and an annual Cooper Brothers membership. I’m not a fan of the salesmanship, but I guess it’s a part of their business.
The outcome? So-​so. The air conditioning is better, but not great. It just isn’t as effective as it was before it broke. Disappointing after a $ 350 repair. I called Cooper Brothers about this, and they came back out right away, but to no avail.
My real gripe is that the suggestions they did make ran up my electric bill substantially. Shawn said that I should lower the temperature from 77 – 78 to 72 – 75. He also said I should leave the system on at all times, and run the fan continuously. I did this for a few days, and then checked my PG&E Smart Meter. Yikes! It more than doubled my usage, along with my bill.
In summary, Cooper Brothers had great customer service, but expensive offerings and a debatable result.
