American Choice Van Lines

They did get my mother moved. I can say that much. Yes, they broke a few things and lost a few things. They «hooked up» the washer, which if we had used it would have spewed water all over the floor. They left big furniture in the hall because it wouldn’t fit in the designated room, but would fit in the other room. It was the largest piece of furniture. It should have been moved first.
They did not label any boxes. We had to open each one to determine where it would go. How hard is it to color code boxes by location?
They hired some local guy to help unload who then gave my mother a sob story so she would give him money. Then he came back again and gave her another sob story to get more money. When I called to report him to the company they had no idea who he was and tried to deny that he was ever hired by the driver to unload.
I asked for an in person estimate of moving costs. The cubic footage estimate seemed low so I asked for a second in person estimate which came in the same. Once the truck was loaded the price came in at least $ 900 over the estimate. So I think they intentionally estimate low to get the biz.
Buyer beware.

We used this movers before and we have no complains. Its been good and they have been really very productive and been on point. They did what they were told. I have no issues with them and we will use them again

And best of aII came in under the quoted price, and were accurate

I recommend these movers. We had no issues and the prices were reasonable. They took good care of all of our belongings and were very pleasant and helpful.

We moved on Memorial Day weekend, so we fully expected a delay due to traffic. While they were a little late because of the holiday traffic, they made up for it by working incredibly hard and in a quick manner. All three employees were friendly and accommodating. I would definitely use them again!

Angel, Junior and Willie did a great job and when we ran into an issue with the elevator reservation they really hustled to get everything out. They literally ran down the halls. Great work!

Had help from Junior, Luis and Isaac. While quiet, they knew what to do and got everything squared away. Without their help, this move would have been 1,000 times worse. I would call on them again.

Angel and his team were great! They let me know they were on the way and arrived within the window. They were polite, friendly, full of smiles, and communicated well. The price was reasonable. They were efficient and yet took the time tip make sure everything was well protected. My total bill was ad expected from the quote. They didn’t nickel and dime me for elevator rides or stairs like other companies.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Very eager to begin with, then they were the worst!!!
No such thing as customer service once they have you booked!
Be sure to guesstimate the load you will be moving perfectly, any additional square footage will cost you double. Since initially I did not know what I would be moving with, I kept them updated as I went. Didn’t matter.
My advice… DO NOT GO WITH THIS MOVER!
If you are already locked in, over estimate the amount of boxes etc you will be moving! I still haven’t received my belongs although I requested it the 16^th of April… it’s already the 20^th (they claim they have 21 days after my requested date to arrive! Read the fine print!) and no word as to when they will be getting here or what kind of shape my things will be in!
Update: Customer service rep, Tammy, has now contacted me and has been very accommodating. I now have an idea of when the movers will be arriving and given a $ 100 discount for the inconvenience the lack of communication has caused.
I will post what kind of shape my things are in when they arrive.
My advice is to overestimate the amount you are moving, you can always be less without the penalty of the price doubling for addition space needed. And know that they have a 3 week window to get your belongs to you! If you need anything before then don’t send with the movers!

USE A DIFFERENT COMPANY. I’D GIVE NO STARS IF I COULD.
Hired company for a cross country move from San Francisco to Detroit. Initially they were super responsive with questions (and especially about getting booked and setting up payment) and the physical moving team in SF was excellent, but that’s pretty much where the positive story ends.
When I set up my move I informed the company that I’d need to store everything for about a month, was told that wasn’t a problem. 30 days after my move I called to schedule delivery and was told that my shipment would go out on the next available truck and they would call me to confirm when that happened but delivery could take place anytime between 7 and 21 days after being shipped out.
2 days later I had a business matter arise and needed to travel out of area. Wanting to make sure I’d be in the area I informed the company IN WRITING that my delivery should be held and I’d call back to confirm when I was back in the area for the 7 – 21 day window.
About 10 days after I send that email, I get a call telling me «Good news your stuff was shipped out this weekend». WHAT? I remind my sales rep of the email I’d sent to her, «oh I was out of the office this weekend so I missed it» turns out she’d never checked her email and had completely missed my very clear instructions. It’s Monday, the delivery is scheduled to arrive on Friday.
So now there is a problem, because I’m not in Detroit to take delivery of my stuff and I have business matters I’m attending to. This company basically did the «Oh my bad» but did nothing to help me figure out a solution that didn’t involve me spending almost $ 650 to change travel plans and rush my contractors for work happening on my house. They became less and less responsive to my calls and emails asking for updated information, usually I had to make 2 calls and send an email before getting any kind of response. Did I mention that the movers actually showed up 2 days and 5 hours late for delivery? And all of the boxes look like they have been kicked around, including the ones clearly marked «fragile glass this side up».

We used American Choice Van Lines and they were great. Luis, Angel, and Francisco were awesome. They were fast, careful, and hard working. Would definitely recommend to others. Also schuduling with Nobia was quick and easy.

NEVER move a motorcycle with this company! The contract states they will ship a bike and they charge upwards of $ 300 for this (which is packaging and moving). Upon initial pickup my brand new $ 25k motorcycle was was placed in the shuttle moving truck and strapped against the side of the truck with one tie down. All plastic fairings and side rear view mirror leaning on the wooden siding. Then covered in dirty moving blankets as «padding». I immediately voiced my concerns but was told it’s how they transport it to the warehouse in Milpitas, and they «forgot the bubble wrap». I called the office, spoke to Nubia to further voice my concerns how they can charge 300 $ for the service I saw. She broke down the fee for me, packaging and moving. I explained how dissatisfied I was. She called back at a later date with a manager who told me I signed a contract for it. Again, not debating this, disputing the quality of the service provided. We agreed on him emailing me by end of day before and after pictures of the motorcycle arriving at the warehouse. Never received them. So next day I email. I get a response later from Nubia I will get them later that day. The pictures come and it’s only the after pictures so I cannot see the status of my bike because it’s covered in plastic and cardboard. Upon arrival after the movers are done walking over everyone’s boxes, tossing them around, and unloading mine they pull out the bike. We began recording on video as it came off the truck and we unpackaged. The entire side Rearview mirror that was against the truck was SNAPPED OFF. And the base of the mirror was covered in what looks to be GLUE that they tried to repair it with. I took additional pictures and once again am calling and emailing Nubia. She told me her manager was looking into the cost of repair. And that’s the last I’ve heard apart from «my manager isn’t in today» or, «I’ll have foreword this to my manager». No updates, no help. This move was because we recently have been stationed in Texas with the military. The motorcycle is a primary means of transportation and now we are having to work/​drive extra around this mess. They have no regards to helping or simply updating. It’s been weeks and nothing.
Also, as a side note, they gave me someone’s stuff on delivery, which I notified them of immediately. They haven’t done a thing about it. So don’t plan on getting lost stuff back.
Update*****The same day this was posted the company then agreed to paying for damage of the bike. Still no update on the other persons items that I still have.

This was our first move ever and Van choice made it completely stress free. We were moving a ton of stuff from a 2 bed room apartment to a 1 bed room and the move went seamless. All 3 guys, Angel, Alonso & Larry were really professional and were super flexible with any custom request. On top of that I got a great deal and they turned out to be the most reasonable movers from a ton of quotes I had received.

Very efficient and were on time with schedule! Met our moving expectations and made it hassle free. Would recommend their service to friends and family!

Awesome moving crew that helped my brother-​in law with the move from their apt to their new home. I noticed how careful the movers are with from the smaller to the heavier items. I’d definitely recommend them on any scale if relocation. Side note, I’m writing this review for my brother-​in law’s move since he doesn’t have a Unilocal account.

Booking with this company was super easy! Our move went very smoothly. We hired 3 guys and they came exactly when they said they would. Nubia was very helpful during the booking and offered is a great rate. Luis, tony, Larry. thanks for making sure our furniture stayed with ought a scratch!

I used this company to move from San Leandro to Alameda. While the foreman was flexible, etc,. There is this one guy who was supposed to assemble my spare bedroom bed. He just did a fews parts and left half the bed unfinished and some parts and screws on the floor. As I closely examined the bed some of the screws are in fact missing. What really annoys me is that he claimed to be done and even tried to disguise this mess by making sure the front part of the bed looked like it was completely assembled. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had. Who does this. This company claims the cost covers both disassemble and assembling of furniture?
What a joke.

Just moved from Daly City to Monterey and Luis, Willie and Angel made it a wonderful experience. There prices are tough to beat! Also, Nubia was great to work with over the phone! I recommend these guys to anyone who is moving.

They did it again. Today was the rainiest day of the year. And it turned out we had a lot more stuff than we thought. But Luis and his crew totally took care of us all day long as wet as it got. Kudos to America’s choice for a really great moving job today. I highly recommend.

Just wanted to update my situation with American Choice. My things were picked up July 17, 2015 and now on November 12, 2015 I am still missing a box that contained well over $ 500 worth of merchandise. There has been no attempt by American Choice to locate this box and according to the claim company they have failed to return messages left to settle the loss. Also I found out that I am being reimbursed .60 per pound. I believe the box was a 40lb box so clearly I am out quiet a bit. I very much regret going with this company.

Easily the worst business I have dealt with recently.
1) they misquoted the price lower by $ 200, by means of a calculation «error». After the fact, I don’t trust that they made a mistake. I now believe it was intentional to show an artificially lower price to get me to buy into it. They never accepted this error nor compensated for any part of it.
2) They «lost» my two tvs. Initially they wouldn’t accept any responsibility. After I made a complaint via BBB, and two MONTHS of haggling, they agreed to pay me half of the value of the tvs. How only two TVs, the most expensive pieces of equipment in their ORIGINAL boxes would be lost, beats me. If I had gone for insurance, it would be less than $ 40 I might have got to compensate for TVs that were together worth $ 1800.
3) They mixed up lots of boxes in delivery because they bulk load stuff into trucks without any proper partitioning between jobs. At least two boxes were misplaced and one component of a computer hutch was lost. They also delivered to me two boxes that didn’t belong to me which I had to identify and reject.
4) 5 – 6 broken items, because they wouldn’t pay any attention to tags I had fixed on them saying fragile etc.
5) Took the maximum time they committed + 2 days to deliver. The 2 – 7 days estimate they give has so many caveats, you’re lucky if it gets you anytime before 15 days. I got mine in 11 days.

Just a great group of Mover showed up on time work very quickly pack the stuff that we thought we packed well but they had to repack it very professional very nice and I would highly recommend them so they moved to Rio Vista successful check that off my bucket list

I finally received my stuff from American Choice — 7 days later than was agreed to in the contract. This is the worst move I have ever experienced. I have probably 40 dishes broken, 2 cabinets destroyed, bedside table with crushed corners, exercise bike ruined, and I am finding items that are missing. These guys packed my home and I believe that some of the jewelry that is missing ended up in a pocket. (I know I should have moved this myself but I missed some.)
Please, please don’t go with these guys…

Moving our things to storage as we wait for our new place to be ready in a few weeks. Efren and the other movers we had were efficient and took care wrapping our furniture and belongings. They were polite and asked questions to make sure they didn’t take any thing we wanted to leave behind. I’m confident our things will stay well kept seeing how they took such care in wrapping it all! Thanks for taking care of us! You saved us so much time in the long run!!!

This is the first time I have written a negative review for any company or service; but this company deserves it. I used them for a move from Ca to Wa and it was a disaster! Our items arrived about a week late, many items were broken and a few were even missing. The crew that showed up to unload the truck at our home in WA were scary to say the least. One was smoking pot in his car on our curb, one was so filthy that I couldn’t stand to be in close proximity to him. The «management» never returned my calls or emails regarding the broken and missing items. I would NOT RECOMMEND this company to anyone! The worst moving experience I have ever had.

We recently used American Choice Van Lines to move us from SF Bay Area to Ojai, Ca. We selected based on price and reviews on the Better Business Bureau. Our experience was less than perfect to say the least. Delivery was made early July and after the dust settled we found the following :
Boxes with clothing was missing
A box with garden tools & a step ladder was missing
One of a kind vase missing
Kitchen table leg broken
Dining table leg broken
Dining chair arm broken off
When I pointed all this out to the Company, I was told ‘file the claim’ and got no satisfaction.

The worst possible moving company. They gave us a binding bid which was paid in advance. Then they billed us for additional amount claiming that it weighed more than they had given us a quote for and they refused to release our stuff until we paid an additional $ 1800+. So we had to pay additional under duress.
Also they lost some of our stuff and damaged a whole lot of stuff. They did a horrible job of packing, plus they dropped items thus breaking them. They dragged furniture without wrapping blankets.
We have moved several items but this was by far the worst experience ever. DO NOT USE THESES GUYS!!!

I had a very unsatisfactory moving experience with American Choice Van Lines. They have very bad customer service. They never return calls, did not deliver as promised, and destroyed a leather chair and office file. The chair did not show up with my other goods, and after numerous phone calls, I was told nearly a week later that the chair had been damaged and thrown out! Why wasn’t I told that immediately?! When the goods were delivered, many boxes marked «fragile» were not treated as fragile, and were dented. I had to be with the movers every minute to direct them, even though almost every box was clearly marked where it should go. And I was very surprised that my shipment arrived in a Budget rental truck.
Avoid this company! Very poor communication and customer service. Once they get a signed contract they quit caring about the customer.

I noticed several other reviews mentions «on time». None of the vans were on time for me. All (3 total) were at least an hour late each time. I will say the mover crews did work hard but this company has some serious system and customer service issues. Let’s talk about tape. Tape is a supply that you pay extra for, so when they say they will wrap and pad your furniture, they will. But use LOTS of tape in the process. I was charged for at least 66 rolls of tape! And I had packed everything myself, except the kitchen. It took one of the crew over 7 hours to pack my normal sized kitchen. He used at least 14 boxes and ran out of packing paper. My roommate and I were scrambling to find him newspaper to finish. THEN… they split my shipment onto two trucks. I had no idea that was even a possible scenario. And they didn’t tell me. The first driver told me when they arrived to unload. AND, the second truck came the next day. I’m waiting for it right now. It’s 7 o’clock at night and they are late just like all the others were. PLUS… they managed to cut/​tear the arm of my sofa and the tape they wrapped 7 times around my trash can won’t come off. So, now I have to go though the claims process. I can’t wait to see how much fun that’s gonna be! I went to the claims website today to get some info and the claim form they tell you to print and fill out manually (no electronic option) and the form wouldn’t print. This does not bode well. And don’t get me started on the crushed boxes. The photos only scratch the surface of the overall damage.

They did great! Had to deal with a long driveway and a tri-​level house on the other side, and they did it with ease and a smile.

These guys are scammers along with their partnering company Plymouth Rock Van-​lines. We were relocating from California to Florida with 2 kids. We found Über Movers on a government website in the top ten list. So we did our research on Über Movers and gave them a call. Next thing you know Pierre answers and after we agree on a price, he tells us we have to pay a deposit so we go to the website and it says Plymouth Rock Van-​lines. So I asked him about it and after reassuring me and me verifying the phone numbers are the same, I agreed to pay the deposit (but this was my first red flag).
Then American Choice Van-​lines show up to pick up our furniture. Hmmmm (2^nd red flag). The movers said they had extra room on the truck and do we have more to load, so we give them a few more extra things. Then when they’re done loading, low & behold, they tell us we’re over our estimated cubic feet. WHAT???
Plymouth Rock gave us an binding estimate over the phone for $ 4200 which we agreed to and that was after us telling them that we had a tight budget and didn’t have any more money. Then American Choice cleverly had us sign a blank new estimate that was attached to the first estimate. And now American Choice filled in the new estimate with a new price of $ 6700 and are threatening that we have to pay in full or else they won’t deliver our furniture! This cant be happening! They totally scammed us! We try calling and get nothing but the run around. The stupid idiots that answer the phones wont transfer us to a supervisor or tell us who to contact.
On top of all that, they promised to deliver by 2 weeks and now its been 3. We have had to buy air mattresses for me & my kids to sleep on, I had to purchase dishes to eat on and clothes/​shoes to wear to work amongst several other things.
They’re complete scammers and are all in on it. They don’t call you to tell you anything about your delivery status and its hard to get any answers from anyone.
DO NOT USE AMERICAN CHOICE VANLINES OR PLYMOUTH ROCK VANLINES EVER! THEY WILL ROB YOU BLIND & NOT CARE!

Look I understand when moving, things happen. But the service and care this company provides is not worth the risk.
I moved from San Francisco to Seattle. I found this company on
and the rate came back favorable. The guys showed up on time for both ends and the wait time between destinations was 5 days. However as other reviews indicated they don’t take care much care with boxes and lose items. I’m missing side rails and foot board to my bed, they lost the essentials pieces for putting back together a crate and barrel desk and made tracking the boxes impossible since some were double tagged or not labeled on the sheet.
They broke my kitchen island, designer lamp shade and steam cleaner. I called to get insurance but no one called me back, the day of arrival I asked again and they indicated it was too late it had to be done at least three day prior. I was on a strict timeline and didn’t have the luxury of turning them away to reschedule or find a new company. I’ve contacted them now 3 different times to ask if maybe someone reported if they have the items. No response. In fact when I asked about the process of filing a claim they said it’s better to wait in case they find the items since you only can file once. Ten days later I asked just to file, turns out you have to do it within nine days from delivery. I feel like they purposely mislead me so the window would pass.
As of today I’ve had no follow up from the company after several attempts and had to spend about $ 2000 replacing all the items. I would not recommend this company, spend the extra money and get someone more reputable.
