After being referred to Matt through a friend, I contacted him to setup my family portrait session with my son. I hadn’t been diligent enough about taking regular professional photos of him since he had been born. James’ first birthday was coming up and I wanted to mark the milestone by having photos of the two of us together. After getting my e-​mail, Matt called me right away to talk details. I was instantly comfortable talking to him, explaining to him what I was hoping to get out of my session. He had all kinds of creative suggestions and ideas for areas to shoot, fun props to use and outfits for James and I to wear. By the end of our conversation, I knew he was going to produce awesome photos for my family. I was so excited!
Matt fit me in right away and worked around my work schedule to meet me at the park location that he had scouted out. We met at O’Melveny Park in Granada Hills and took photos all over the park. During the session, he had James and I smiling and laughing which captured the closeness between us so perfectly. Not only was I getting awesome photos, but it was a fun and enjoyable bonding experience for my baby and I. I tend to be a little uncomfortable and awkward having my photos taken, but Matt took his time, never made us feel rushed or uncomfortable. Matt was very professional and comfortable while trying to get James to pose and cooperate for photos too. I truly felt like we could be our silly selves and have a blast during our entire session.
After the shoot, I felt like I had made a new friend. Matt definitely has a knack for getting to know people and making them comfortable. I was so excited to have Matt take photos for all of James’ milestones. I immediately asked him if he could come cover the photography at James’ party too. He was so enthusiastic and excited about it and immediately agreed to be there. At the party, Matt covered all of the significant parts of the party from the birthday boy in his suit, to photos with family and friends, smashing the cake and opening presents. He took some really fun candid photos of the party too.
I’ve always struggled with photographers getting pictures back to me months later. But before I knew it, Matt emailed me with the link to all of the final edited images. I was so impressed by the quality of the photos. I so rarely love pictures of myself, but I was thrilled with how everything turned out. I had photos of James with all of my family and my best friends that had come into town for the party. I immediately shared the gallery on my Facebook for my friends and family to see and sat down with my mom so we could order some prints for the family. The website was easy to navigate, I got my order placed and had my prints in my mailbox just weeks after the session and the party.
