When i was coming home from work, I noticed I forgot my home keys at the office. and my office was already closed, so my only option was to call a locksmith. I went on my smart phone and looked at a few places, most went straight to voicemail. Locksmith Tech was my best option. They did an amazing job, great service. I recommend.

Long story:
Friend was watching our dog in our apt, and the lock broke when they were trying to get back in. We were away for the weekend but looked up local locksmiths, called a few and tried to see who could come out ASAP. This place could come by in 15 minutes (only pro point here). We asked about pricing thinking ok, max this should be ~$ 200. He said something vague about $ 160 on the phone but said he would know more once he arrived. We offered to pay over the phone and we were under the impression we would be in touch once he arrived.
Per my friend, he came by. Drilled out the lock and replaced it. So again, I’m thinking ballpark $ 200 max. He insists my friend pays him in person and she fronts the costs. I ask her for the receipt and here’s the breakdown:

Uhm…excuse me? How can anyone charge 2 service fees plus a labor fee PLUS a insanely overpriced lock? I was just in shock. We asked him if the lock would automatically open for us when we were near it because obviously it must be some new space-​age lock to be so pricey.
We arrive at home the next day and its a reused lock that looks like nothing special and frankly looked used with a few scratches. I did extensive research on the internet to even find a similar lock from the brand and I’m convinced the brand just doesn’t exist. After many convos with the locksmith on the phone about how he cheated us out of money and he had no right to conduct such an expensive service without consulting us first and he had nothing to say. The only thing he was able to offer was to refund us for the lock if we didn’t like it. We went to Lowe’s bought ourselves a new lock and installed it.
The only place I will give him credit is he did show up the next day to pick up the lock and give us a check for $ 175. He said something about how he should charge us a restocking fee yada yada yada but obviously we weren’t having it.
Long story short: unless you are willing to pay an arm and a leg for «emergency» service go elsewhere. I called a few other places to get quotes and they were max in the $ 100 range. I can’t believe this guy is so highly rated on Unilocal.I’m convinced they must be paid reviews because of how many similar experiences others have had. I highly suggest for those to also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. A company like this should not be taking advantage of its customers, there is no need for it. If the quality of your service is good, your business is good. Not off scamming customers.

Great and fast service! Locked myself out with a cell phone that was about to die on a freezing cold day and they came in less then 10 minutes. Got lock replaced with the friendliest service!

Awesome fast service to help unlock my car. Within calling I had my car unlocked in 20 minutes and was back on the road. Thanks Dan and team!

Four stars for the speedy service (15 mins to get there) but negative –2 for the price. No price quote to get locked car open for 1998 van — dispatcher said he wasn’t able to and the guy coming would give a quote — not mentioning they have a $ 85 trip fee although they were only 4 blocks away from the vehicle. Then $ 189 for the lock fee + $ 25 labor — highway robbery! It took less than 45 minutes from call to payment and less than 3 mins to unlock door and get keys, all for a gut wrenching $ 299! What a joke. AAA is cheaper than this for a whole year of service which I am getting tomorrow. Hell, a tow is cheaper! They were the first ad on Unilocal stating «after hours» — it was 9pm. Should have called around and gotten a quote from other places. My bad, red flag when a dispatch tells you the locksmith will quote you — looks like from other reviews they would have still charged $ 85 for the four block trip. I looked at the four star rating — should have read through the reviews. Do yourself a favor and get a quote ahead of time. What a rip off!!!

This service is definitely a little shady. I was locked out at 10 PM on a windy weekday and was appreciative of anyone coming to let me in. However, there was a big discrepancy of what was told on the phone and what was charged.
After the initial call to the main line, I got a call back from the locksmith in 15 minutes. The locksmith arrived in 25 minutes. Total wait time was 40 minutes.
The quote on the phone «oh $ 70 and then the lock out charge depending on the type of lock.» I anticipated maybe $ 200, but the guy charged $ 45 and $ 245 additional for a very conventional lock. He also made me write to cash, which means he probably factored in some extra cash for himself.
The lock still works, but now has a jiggly loose feeling. The guy was nice enough, but I’m left with the feeling of sketchiness.

Dan is very professional, friendly and reasonable. I would certainly recommend him to others.
I had Dan come out to provide some re-​keying services recently. What was initially a smaller job turned into a larger project. We had called him out for three locks but decided to have him do more once he arrived. Customer service is obviously a major priority for him. Dan is very friendly and professional, and his work was high-​quality.
Full disclosure, we did have a minor dispute over fees. My feeling is that communication around how the changes would affect the cost of the service should have been clearer. I also believe that I should have asked more questions, but was preoccupied with moving into the property. That said, Dan was very reasonable and willing to working out the dispute. I appreciate his good faith in those discussions and will not hesitate to use him again in the future… but I will definitely make sure to get a full, comprehensive quote and communicate extremely clearly the next time around! ;)

We needed a door opened. We were told that the lock had to be drilled. After some research, it was clear to me that this company was not trustworthy. Look for the news articles and other sites detailing information about the owner.

Idan’s service was better than I imagined.
I had to change the lock and he came over fast and did the job very professionally. He even made me a couple extra sets of keys for less than our local hardware store.
I would use his services next time, no doubt.

Beware! How does paying over $ 470 strike you to unlock your front door?
We couldn’t get a comprehensive quote from him, and instead of clearly explaining options, (uses faulty english to his advantage when convenient), replaced the lock and then charged us crazy prices. There were «drive fees», «unlocking fees», «replacement costs» that seemed way over retail. As another reviewer said, they’re belligerent when questioned.
Furthermore, they’ve been in trouble before, accused of overcharging.
They do business as Locksmith Tech, Service Tech, and when we asked to see his license, he wouldn’t let us hold and write the number down– he told us the number, and when we checked it out on the .gov site– no record.
A regrettable and unsavory experience.

We accidentally locked ourselves out of our apartment. A man came within 20 minutes and almost immediately began intimidating myself and my friend, two young women. We were frightened and felt unsafe. He was not successful at opening our lock and, partly because we were so afraid of him, we declined his $ 395 charge. He left in a rage, demanding his $ 40 service charge. This was not only an unsuccessful interaction, it was a scary one.

They get two stars for coming out at night the weekend between Christmas and New Years.
However, he couldn’t pick the lock, so he took a drill to it. Then he charged me $ 350. I didn’t have him replace the lock because he was going to charge another $ 250-​$ 500.
The next day I did some digging and realized that this company isn’t good at picking locks, overcharges, and is generally shady — even running afoul of the law in the past —
I would avoid.

Do not ever use this company. Dan attempted to charge me a $ 150 trip charge without telling me beforehand. He said that it was the weekend rate and that he charges everyone that much. Well how was I supposed to know that!
After arguing with him he finally said «Pay me $ 75 instead of $ 150» and that he doesn’t want to do business with people like me so don’t ever call him again.
I only wish I had looked them up on Unilocal before ever calling them. What a scam!

Very expensive. I don’t wont to waste anymore time on this but they said it was $ 150 just to come out, and ended up charging $ 165 just to come out. The list goes on. They’ll nickel and dime you with a smile. I spoke with a co-​owner named Travis, who was very abrupt and told me he would refund the obvious overcharges and the check’s in the mail. Eight days later and no check. Ridiculous. It could be worse, but they are not trustworthy.
Now I will contact Consumer Affairs and call it a day.

Locksmith tech is a very reliable and useful service. I have used them 3 times already and every time am very pleased. I have had a great experience with them. Would recommend to anyone looking for fast, reliable, professional service.

Locksmith Tech is the best!!!
They were extremely fast to arrive and very pleasant under the stressful circumstances of getting locked out. I have high security locks and the technician explained what needed to be done and executed efficiently.
The price was fair and the technician was calm and courteous. I really appreciated the time he took to make sure everything was working correctly.
Highly recommend!!!

Dan is awesome and hilarious. Although the 2 keys he gave me still don’t work :(
He offered to make a house call but sorry I’m hesitant.

One dreadful May night, my roommate was robbed at gunpoint. He was forced to give up his camera, some cash, and critically, his house keys, which meant that I needed my locks replaced ASAP. I called Locksmith Tech at 1am on a weekday, and impressively, Dan picked up immediately and coolly informed me that he could come over whenever I needed. I had to go to bed, so we scheduled for first thing in the morning.
Dan arrived at the exact time we scheduled for, and he even patiently waited as I sent his license and insurance documents over to my landlord so she could approve the work. Once we got started it took him about two and a half hours to replace the five locks and deadbolts that were compromised due to the robbery. And when one of the locks required a part he didn’t have in stock, he came back another day free of charge to install it and was communicative and accommodating to my schedule. Dan deserves the 5-​star rating he’s earned from everyone else on here! He gets five stars for being punctual, a super hard worker, and a fair businessman.

I really liked Locksmith Tech. They were extremely helpful and went out of their way to provide excellent service. In retrospect, I would be wary of «bargain» locksmiths as they function as experts in one of the most important areas of ones’ life-​home security.
All said and done, couldn’t be happier. Very friendly and knowledgable guys who go out of their way for great service.
