Established in 2005.

GLC Construction was establish in 2005 by Gilbert, a second generation contractor that grew up in a family owned construction business. Gilbert had always a very strong interest in construction at a very young age and soon after he graduated college his desire and passion for construction finally drove him operate the family business. Since than Gilbert has broken off started his own company. His dedication to construction; has helped the company to grown tremendously and continues to complete flawless residential building additions, new construction homes, and major renovations.

GIlbert establish GLC Construction back in 2005. He is a second generation contractor that grew up in a family owned construction business. Gilbert always had a very strong interest in construction at a very young age. He worked for his dad’s company on the weekends and summers remodeling and building houses. After graduating from UC Davis he immediately worked for the County of Sacramento Planning Department. His desire and passion for construction finally drove him to leave his current employment to operate the family business. Since then, Gilbert has started his own company. His dedication to construction has helped his company to grown tremendously and it continues to complete flawless residential building additions, new construction homes, and major renovations.

This review is LONG overdue but Gilbert and his team did a complete kitchen remodel for us along with some other small projects (removal of popcorn ceiling, etc.) Gilbert was upfront and very honest about his services and costs. He knows what he is doing and I completely trust him with his suggestions and opinions. He is also very responsive, which is very important during the construction process. It is VERY hard to find a contractor that knows what they are doing AND you can trust completely. Thanks Gilbert for all of your work! If we decide to have any additional construction needs, the first person we will call is Gilbert.

GLC did a full kitchen remodel for us that included a full demo, taking out walls, adding archways, moving windows, installing cabinets and new appliances. I am happy to say it came out great.
Given the scope of the project, I decided to go with a GC and interviewed several. Gilbert’s bid was very competitive and his portfolio demonstrated some excellent past work. I actually had to talk him into taking the project because he was so busy at the time and I’m glad I did.
We hit one complication while taking out a wall and he came up with a clever solution that allowed us to maintain the aesthetics we were looking for while staying on budget.
Throughout the process and continuing still, Gilbert has been available to answer questions and provide guidance which is much appreciated.
I strongly recommend GLC as Gilbert, Heinz and the rest of the team did a great job.

We found out about GLC Construction from our kitchen cabinet provider. I was initially hesitant because I’d never heard of him. But he was so responsive and demonstrated so much integrity during the initial project estimation phase that we took a chance. You see, we live in Los Altos, and it felt like everyone else felt like they could charge us more because we lived in a more uppity neighborhood. Gilbert’s estimate was thoroughly documented and fair.
Gilbert & team remodeled the kitchen, 4 bathrooms, laundry room, and great room in our house in 2012 (taking down internal walls, etc) and did a WONDERFUL job. I am very picky about how the tiles are laid out — I hone in on crooked tiles — and you can tell that the level of craftsmanship on everything is high. He is super responsive, tech-​savvy, honest, and has a good sense of what looks good/​bad, what works well/​bad. I have recommended him for projects with my brother, my parents, my coworkers, friends, etc. I will use him for subsequent projects (investment property, etc): there is no other contractor for me.
Almost two years later, we’re still finding the little touches that Gilbert added, which we never (knew enough to) ask for, whether it’s how conveniently the light switches control our vast indoor lighting or additional electrical outlets that he added just because he was working on that wall. This is why I came back in to add a (belated) Unilocal recommendation. I thought I had already done so, but my husband discovered I hadn’t.
I highly highly recommend Gilbert.

We first heard of GLC Construction through our architect who had worked with him on a large challenging project and said his workmanship was high quality. I had narrowed my search down to five contractors, and then the top two. I researched both very thoroughly by calling and meeting with as many of their referrals as possible to check out their workmanship. They both seemed great. But when we got ready to sign the contract, it became clear that Gilbert was going to be better to work with and go the extra mile. He also was willing to work with us on the contract and payment schedule to meet our requirements and this was a big deal for us.
Just to give you an idea of the project size, our remodel consisted of adding 550 square feet to a 50 year old house. This included moving and enlarging the kitchen, expanding the family room to include a dining area, changing the old kitchen area into a study, expanding the entryway and remodeling two bathrooms. With a project this large, a lot of things happened that we never expected, but the best part of it all was having Gilbert on our side. Through all the issues, he was always calm and patient and guided us with honesty and openness. He also worked incredibly well with every subcontractor we hired, and every sub spoke very highly of his workmanship and him.
As the project moved along, we realized that one of the most important traits of Gilbert was how willing he was to work with us and make things happen. Also, his honesty and integrity often came out throughout the project. It was comforting to have someone looking out for our best interest. Gilbert made this project a wonderful experience and the most stressful parts were making decisions on paint colors, finishes, appliances & hardware, etc. — all things I had to get done. He also made it a point to learn my likes & dislikes, which was really helpful. I also found his crew and subs to be very polite, easy to work with and such a happy group of guys.
The project got completed in nine months, and although the original completion time was seven months, we were very happy because they did amazingly well considering all the changes we made. This remodel was such a positive experience for us and I am so glad we used Gilbert for our remodel. Our house looks amazing thanks to him.

Gilbert and his crew at GLC Construction completed a «down to the studs» remodel of my kitchen and bathroom, plus spruced up my 1940’s-era 2 bedroom flat in SF with details that made my unit look like new. Throughout the project, Gilbert was very easy to work AND communicate with. He is able to handle problems and solve them with intelligence born out of experience. To put it simply, whatever he or his crew works on, Gilbert ensures that work will be done right. I met him through a word-​of-​mouth referral, and have since, without reservation, referred him on to other jobs with friends. I wholeheartedly submit this recommendation and rating to the Unilocal community.

When we were getting ready to do our kitchen remodel my husband and I met with seven, count ‘em, SEVEN general contractors. All of them were either weirdos or wanted to charge us so much money for our small kitchen we would have been better off moving into a new house. Before being completely resigned to never starting the remodel we met with Gilbert– a recommendation from Eric at MT Kitchen Cabinets– who was the first contractor to actually go into our attic to review the situation with a wall we wanted to remove and also gave us a fair price.
Throughout the process of having our kitchen completely torn down and built back up Gilbert was easy to communicate with (via email, text and/​or phone) and went above and beyond countless times. We truly felt like we got A+ work from Gilbert and his crew in the end.
Any negatives that we experienced during our remodel process were not due to Gilbert or his crew and if we had had any problems I’m 100% confident that he would have happily addressed the problem and made sure we were satisfied. My husband and I feel very lucky that we finally found a trustworthy general contractor who we look forward to working with in the future again and again.
