Funny I already did a review and it was deleted. I would never use this company again, they do not stand by their product and/​or work. They took 2 months to complete a 2 week job.

If I could put zero I would… This all happened right before Christmas and wow what a screwed up Christmas and new year its been. The car caught the garage on fire but luckily its just the garages Sheetrock, doors, cabinets, automobiles and tools etc.
It seems as though these guys don’t know a thing about customer service and they’re only out for the money! We have been in a hotel for 5 weeks now and while being at the first hotel we ran into another couple who say the same thing. They tried to worn us about them but we went with them anyway and now a job that was quoted by their estimator «Will» to only take 1 ½ months is going to turn into what their contractor says is more like 4 months.
The insurance company has been more than cooperative with them but Paul Davis has been dragging their feet about about every little detail so far.
The guys that first came out to clean things didn’t even really clean worth a dime but still charged a fortune for every little detail. They’re also charging significantly higher prices for lower grade products and work on the approved estimate. Then they want to try clean the carpets before they’ve even started the demo work, sorry I mean clean a test area, but the construction crew ask us for the code to the front door so they can have access to the interior work to be done which by the way you have walk across that freshly cleaned carpet that was brand new 2 years ago without a single spot on it before this happened. You’d think they would know that the stains would never come out of the carpet from all the foot traffic to and from the burned up garage and they would just include it in the estimate. The China hutch has to be emptied by us anyhow for them to move it out of the way for them to paint any how. Duh!
I’ve been taking the time out to come over here on numerous days to help my family move all their belongings out while my father fully disabled due to a bad injury and my grandmother is just well too elderly for these things to have to handle. Its been a lot more stressful than it should be by any means.
I’ll keep everyone posted with further reviews but it looks as though we’re going to be stuck with these guys since after all they already have their checks from the insurance company. I hope they can just be more honest with what they say they’re going to do and just do it! My dad is 56 and my grandmother is 75 and neither of them should have to deal with this kind of poor service. I’m trying handle as much as can for them and hope that this review can change the minds of the company more than their future customers.

Not a review of the services, but I wouldn’t recommend based on my «experience.» Driver #916 959 driving recklessly on Sylvan Road in Citrus Heights, CA on ¹²⁄₂₄ 1pm. He was going 55 in a 40, changing lanes abruptly without a turn signal, and using phone while driving. No, it isn’t fun to work on Christmas Eve but that doesn’t mean it’s okay to be putting other lives at risk. We called the 800 number and got a lackluster «okay I will call the driver,» and didn’t see anything on the company website for how to report a concern to their management, so we felt compelled to post here in hopes that it gets seen and properly addressed.

Kenyon Wills was amazing! I was stranded on the side of the road and he stopped after hundreds of cars pasted me by, I had no cell service and was in tears. One guy commented on his bid being slow, in the age of instant gratification everyone wants it NOW. If this is the type of employee’s this company has they are who I would want doing work for me. Having had owned my own business for years, the employees make or break a company. Maybe the slow bids had to do with your insurance, not this company. When people have a bad experience they love to share, but when they get excellent service they don’t say a word. Please try this company… I will if I EVER need help.

Mold Mitigation project in a tiny 4×4′ half bath.
They quoted that the job would be complete on «Friday» that was 4 weeks ago. We were told that we were a priority because we had a baby due in a month. No communication for most of that time as to why. After the «Friday» passed the contact for the company «Antonio» said he would be able to come out over the weekend as soon as we got a «clear test». I received a notice of the «cleared test» that evening… no Antonio all weekend.
Had to call multiple people in the company to get to anyone who could get me a straight answer. When I final did get a hold of someone, Mark, they said that they still needed to come out to do an estimate (second time someone from the company was coming out). After coming out again they didn’t respond for several more days. Finally when they did respond it was to tell me that I can expect to wait another 2 – 3 weeks. Making a «priority» job because we had a baby coming go from a less than 2 week project to a 9 week project. Baby is already here… still nothing.
To make matters worse, the sewage line to our building backed up today. Because they have only done half the work and no toilet is in place all of our neighbors sewage just flooded our house. Water follows the path of least resistance. Which in this case is a project that is started and ignored for an insane amount of weeks.

This company is run by completely unprofessional and unethical people. Our house was severely damaged by a fire and Paul Davis showed up the same night to solicit work from us. Needless to say, we were traumatized and upset and there were several companies there to choose from. We chose another company to board up our windows that night. A few weeks later when we saw that it was going to rain, we needed someone to put up a tarp over our building so the water wouldn’t further damage our house. We called several contractors including Paul Davis to see if they were available since we needed it done fast. Kenyon, one of the guys that was there the night of the fire, shamed us because we didn’t hire him to board up our windows AND he said he would only consider putting up the tarp if we hired him for the rebuild. Obviously, we passed.
One of the worst and most surprising things about dealing with the aftermath of a fire is having to deal with people like Kenyon who exploit and take advantage of people in times of crisis.
There are other companies out there that treat fire victims with respect. They might not give you the cheapest bid but it’s worth it to pay more in the end to work with someone respectable and does the job well the first time around.
Read the other reviews — it’s clear that this company has a poor work ethic and takes a lot of shortcuts to save money. Hire them at your own risk.

Would not recommend. Use subcontractors which did sloppy work and failed to make corrections dictated by Paul Davis. Everything eventually corrected but lack of supervision of subcontractors would lead me to suggest you use somebody else.

Wow. We literally had a waterfall through our family room ceiling /​upstairs bathroom floor. Paul Davis cleaned it up beautifully. They are so polite, professional, always on time. They worked very well with our insurance company and took care of everything as fast as possible. I highly recommend them.

The job started last April 2014. They were one of three companies that my insurance company listed, and while all of them had so so reviews here on Unilocal,I decided to chose the one that was located close to our home. We had water damage in our kitchen. The kitchen isn’t large, approx. 6ft x 12ft. Our insurance guy came right away and started the repair process right away. They would repair the sub-​floor, replace a cabinet, the countertops, and put in a new floor. Things seemed to start off well — Paul Davis sent humidifiers the same day to begin the drying process. From that point on, things with Paul Davis went downhill. Long story short, it took them until October to do less than 30 days worth of repairs. There were many days when no contractors came by. We couldn’t use the kitchen for most of the time. (Our insurance company reimbursed us for meals we ate elsewhere.) The project manager wasn’t keeping us posted what was happening. I understood their contractors were also working on other projects, but we fell victim to the PM’s poor project planning. He also botched the measurements for a new cabinet and countertop, which only protracted the work. We ended up firing him. Paul Davis sent someone else — he wasn’t a project manager, but his communication skills were better. At first the work seemed to speed up, but then fell behind again. Eventually, they finished their work — 5 months later. And, I was more than glad to see them go!

I cannot say enough about this company. Our water heater broke on a Saturday evening, and we had to find someone ASAP because we had a garage completely filled with boxes from a recent move sitting in water. Paul Davis sent a team within hours. They worked for three days, opening boxes, transferring the items to dry boxes, and carefully storing everything in two Units pods. They saved hundreds of items and treated all of them with care. The drywall that had been damaged in the garage and in an ajacent room was removed and drying units were placed. There was never a complaint from one of their staff about having to move heavy items, etc. They cleaned up each work area very carefully. On top of that, every time I called the company, my questions were immediately answered. They worked well with our insurance adjuster. Ali was our Project Manager. She was very detailed and thorough.
Yes, I recommend using this company.

These guys are great! I work with a lot of people in construction and and the customer service with Paul Davis is amazing– I came home after a trip and found my basement and under my home flooded! And even though it was my basement these guys treated it as they would anything else of great value. I had a lot of sentimental items from my sister who had passed away, they never knew this (and still don’t, unless they are reading this). There attitude was professional, kind and caring! They defiantly went above and beyond. I have to say a big THANK YOU to Alex and Rene! You guys make that company great! I hope Paul Davis restoration realizes what great employees they have! :)

I had Paul Davis replace the sheetrock in the ceiling of a bathroom in our home, retexture the walls, and repaint. A simple job which they did perfectly. Everything about working with them went very smoothly. Good communication, timely responses to my questions, punctual, fair pricing, and good quality work. Granted, it was a very small job but I have nothing but good things to say about my experience working with them.

Our dishwasher flooded our kitchen and destroyed our hardwood floors.
Much of the flooring needed to be torn out. It was necessary for them to replace
some sub flooring, oak flooring, do electriclal, plumbing, painting and install a new dishwasher. They then needed to refinish the existing flooring to match. They did an excellent job in all phases. The Project Manager John was a pleasure to work with.
Everyone who came to our home did an excellent job. John made sure that we were called to let us know if someone was going to be late or not make it.
They went above and beyond and put temporary flooring down so that we could use the kitchen. They used dustless sanding but they also put plastic up to keep dust and vapors from spreading throughout the house. Our insurance company U.S.S.A
recommended them. We were very pleased with the job.

One Word — Horrid! This company was recommended by our insurance company for a house fire. Wish we would have seen the reviews. A lot of what other people reported we also experienced: didn’t do what they said they would, destroyed our home goods due to terrible packing, etc… Can’t believe this company is still in business. They need to be shut down.

My wife used PD about a year due to a house fire at our home in concord. With the combination of Doug running the planning phase and Marcus heading up the construction our home got rebuilt and came out wonderful. These guys went the extra mile for us and its easy to see why our insurer recommended them.

We hired Paul Davis Restoration after getting an inspection done by another company. Their bid wasn’t much better than the other company, but their customer service was good and they assured me that ALL mold would be taken care of.
After performing the remediation, we continued to smell a musty odor. They refused to come back out. I had another company come out to take a look and they found a ton of mold in the wall that they just didn’t remove. I ended up paying another company 4K to finish removing the rest of the mold.
The only reason I’m giving them 2 stars is because their customer service people and crews on site were very pleasant and accomodating.

I was going to write a long check list of all the things that went wrong while working with PD, but rather I will just keep it short and sweet: They will tell you that they value your situation and want to make it better, they will over charge you for substandard work, they will give you cheap materials and expect retail payment, and they will decline to fix something they’ve done wrong if they feel that it is going to affect their bottom line.
I hope you are checking PD before agreeing to sign them on as your contractor. They are a middle man. They don’t actually do the work themselves. The subcontract your job and take a chuck of the top! I also question all the 5 star reviews… My engagement with PD started in Feb. It is now December and we are just getting the close this out. FRUSTRATING AND INCOMPETENT!

These guys started off strong, but in the end it’s just one frustrating day after another. Our church’s nursery got demolished in a car accident and PD came in and did the shoring up of the wall the night of the accident. Our insurance company suggested we use them for the restoration and remodel of the space, so we did. That was December.
The did a great job of demolition and remodeling. Seriously, I couldn’t have been more pleased. They even sent out an electrician to fix a plug that was not in the room when it went bad during their work. That was January.
It’s now almost April and we still do not have our nursery back. We’ve been waiting on a door for almost two straight months now. I’ve been told on numerous occasions that it was going to be installed the next day only to show up that day and not have a crew show up. I would have to call THEM and hear that they weren’t coming.
In this case, it’s the last impression that means the most. I would not use PD again, nor would I recommend them to anyone.

My relationship with PDR started with my insurance company’s recommendation after a flood in the lower area of our house.
After a lengthly cleanup process we were promptly greeted with a quick response from PDR to quote the required repair work.
We decided to do a more extensive remodel and sent out requests for quotes to several contractors including PDR. PRD came in at a reasonable cost compared to the others, where some of those others did not even provide a quote.
PRD worked with me to perform the big stuff (structural, framing, and drywall) and I filled in the rest.
The workers were professional and if not on schedule, I was aware of it before hand (there are always delays here and there with larger projects). I was always kept up-​to-​date.
I was always kept up to date on the progress and constantly asked how I thought things were going. The project manager assigned to my account «Joe» was great. If I called, he had a call back to me within a few hours with questions about what I asked or information about my query.
Overall, I am happy with the work that has been done. The plans were followed to a T inspections were simple and minimal issues were encountered on the city end, and the most important thing, the project kept moving.
Downsides: I had a very difficult situation with my floor joists. No fault of PDR, they were all very out of level. When I asked for a Level 5 drywall quote there was some back and forth about them providing a smooth and level surface. A subsequent quote was provided to ensure a smooth surface. I declined, saying this should be (to a point) taken care of by the drywallers. We finally agreed that I would provide a fair level of firring on the joists prior to drywall installation.
The drywallers came on time and worked quickly.
The result was as I expected on the ceiling, but as I peformed finish work noticed that most of the walls that were framed or reframed by PRD did have waves that are now somewhat visible. I think this is partly my being a bit picky about this having been intimately involved in the entire construction process, but I still believe that the drywallers should have done some additional firring before putting the drywall up on the walls.
I have an overall very positive experience with PDR. They were very professional and the overall quality of work would be more than adequate for most home owners doing a repair or remodel.

I have never had a problem with my front loading LG Washer before. One day, it decided to over-​flood and pee on my third floor hallway! Oh, no! My insurance company called Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling of the East Bay to fix my water damage.
Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling of the East Bay came to rescue my home abating future mold and mildew problems from water damage! Hooray! Expediently, four humungous blowers and a dehumidifer were installed operating for four days straight.
Four days later: You wouldn’t know my hallway suffered from water damage!
Customer service is top notch. Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling of the East Bay Contractors are highly competent, detailed-​oriented, accurate individuals like Max, Eduoard, Mark, and Brian (Thanks, Guys! You’re just too awesome for words to describe your talent and professionalism!).
Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling of the East Bay will be installing 5-​inch plank maple hardwood floors for my third floor hallway and travertine tiles in my laundry room with a water drainage system. I will give you an update as soon as the work has been finished.
I will hire Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling of the East Bay again when I remodel my kitchen, my master bathroom, and my hallway bathroom soon.
