My boyfriend referred me over to Oscar to figure out what was going on with my Ford. Since my car is still under manufacturer warranty, I would always take it to Serramonte Ford and they would NEVER find what was causing my car to shake– they would always tell me it’s normal for the car since my Fiesta is an expensive lemon.
In all of 30 minutes, Oscar’s team found the cause to my shaking and were able to personally show me. My car had cracked engine mounts. I trusted these guys right away and told them to go ahead and fix it. Oscar went out of his way to tell me to call Ford first and see if it’s covered under my warranty to make sure I didn’t pay any money if I didn’t have to. What do you know… even though it’s wear and tear, it was covered. I ended up getting my car done at Ford but I will definitely bring my car here forever for whatever reason occurs.
They know their sh*t and do not try to rip you off like other places do. I would highly recommend and now I know why my boyfriend only trusts his car with them!

I thought I wrote a review for DAS but it is a long time coming. I come here for all my auto issues. My wife once got stranded in Palo Alto after hours & I got the car with the help of AAA. Without hesitation, we towed the car to DAS. I left the key in the box and left a message. The next day they had a look at the car and were able to identify an issue with spark plug arching that was causing the car to stall. They replaced a coil pack from one they had on hand and my car was up and running again. I was only charged for the an hour of labor and the part was free because it was used and on hand knowing that buying a set of coil packs are expensive just for 1 defective part. Oscar & Joe are good guys and their ratings are proven. Good & honest work, everything you can ask for in a friendly neighborhood mechanic!

I love this place because I truly trust the mechanics. They always do only the work the car needs at an amazing price. They explain everything to you in a way you will understand and make sure you know exactly what you’re paying here, which I really appreciate as a girl who knows very little about cars. I highly recommend this place!

Well, at first I was happy with their service. My Mom’s car stalled on her and after looking for a mechanic, I thought DAS would be a great place to take the car since it had stellar reviews. Well, they found and fixed the problem pretty quickly and did a great job. My mom trusted them. My father was a mechanic so she really never took her car to any other mechanic. We decided to take it back to DAS to check on an oil leak she was having. This is where my five star rating has gone down to two… almost one. She initially took it in in August. They replaced the head cover gasket which is no cheap repair. The car was still leaking. They then said that we should change ALL the gaskets since the car was old and would eventually need them changed and would continue to have oil leaks until then. Well that was going to be an expensive repair. The car is old…1998, so I couldn’t see spending the money but really, how much longer will my Mom be able to drive at 82 years of age. Anyway I decided to get a second opinion at another place I called when DAS told me the car needed a water pump, a dealer item, that was also going to be expensive.
The other mechanic saw that the leak was coming from one side of the car. When he checked, there was a hole in the valve cover itself. He told me I could get one from the junk yard and he would put it in. After getting one for $ 100, the other mechanic put it in and the whole thing cost 10 times less than the quote DAS gave me to change ALL the gaskets. No leaks and that was back in January. Certainly if we keep the car much longer there will probably be other leaks but if I don’t have to change them before my Mom no longer drives, the better. Look for my review of the other mechanic. Very trustworthy guy.

Took my 2016 Golf R here for an oil change. Oscar and the rest of the guys at DAS auto treat you like family and are some of the most honest guys I’ve met. They’ll take care of you and do a great job. Highly recommended.

This place was AWESOME! This last time was my third visit there. I took in my Honda civic a few days ago to get my catalytic converter replaced and Oscar and his people did an amazing job of accommodating me and getting my car in great shape again.
Oscar is the most honest mechanic I’ve ever worked with. He gave me a great deal and I’m going to bring every single vehicle I ever need fixed into DAS Auto because of him. Thanks Oscar!

What more can I say about DAS auto that hasn’t already been said?!
As an aircraft technician, I know the importance of quality work and honesty. People’s lives depend on good maintenance and I feel Oscar and his crew of skilled technicians share the same sentiment. They’re definitely not out to make a quick buck; they’re out to put forth a solid and reliable product!
I brought my BMW to other shops in the past and not once have I had a technician come to me and say «…it was a pleasure working on your car.» To me, that speaks volumes of the passion DAS auto has for their work and craft.
Needless to say, when my X5 was handed back to me with a new transmission, it was in perfect working condition. Oscar even promised to throw in a new set of rear tires just because he felt bad I had to spend so much on a new tranni! Best auto shop in the bay in my opinion! Keep up the good work!

Another 5 star rating for DAS. Brought my 08 BMW 335xi in for brake fluid flush and battery issues. Cost was half the price of the stealership, checked battery out of courtesy, and car was ready for pick up in half a day. Found my go to service place

I took my Land Rover to DAS a couple of months ago. They replaced my battery and alternator successfully, but when I got my car back, my radio wouldn’t turn on and my glove box was broken. Now it just hangs open!
I brought it back for some other problems since they did a great job overall, before. This time my coolant was bubbling over and the traction control light was on. I also talked to them about the glove box. They said they would replace it. They had my car for 3 weeks. When I got it back, they said that they were unable to fix some issues, but the coolant was repaired. He also said he wasn’t going to charge me because he really likes me and my partner and wants to spread good karma. When I picked up my car, the coolant bubbled over after two miles.
I have called to discuss this, and to find out when my glove box will be replaced, but after a week, no one has returned my call. Now when I call I get a busy signal.
I took it to another mechanic. He changed a fuse and many problems were fixed within 10 minutes. He said DAS knew about the fuse because it was sitting on the floor. I feel like Oscar wasted my time and money by having my car for so long, yet not fixing it. Meanwhile, I was paying a lot of money for Lyft. I’d prefer that he had told me he couldn’t fix it and sent me to someone weeks ago. I feel like not charging me because of «karma» was disingenuous. He should have told me he didn’t charge me because he couldn’t fix it. After the mechanic spent some time on it yesterday, my radio works, the traction control light is off, and it’s driving smoothly.
The first time around, I was very pleased with their work (except for my glove box and radio), but after this last experience, I’m very disappointed. I think these guys work hard and they don’t try to pull extra money out of customers. My main problem with them is poor communication.

As long as I live in the Bay Area, I will never take my car anywhere else. Das Auto saved me a minimum of $ 2,500 and because of them I was able to get my transmission repaired for free. I still cannot believe people like them still exist.
About six months ago, my 2013 Nissan that I bought straight out of the dealership just 3 years ago with 14 miles on it would not start out. Turns out the gas pump was out — Nissan wanted to charge me $ 1,200 to fix it even though it was a new car that clearly had issues it should not be having. Das Auto hooked it up for $ 600. They made the whole process smooth and easy!
Fast forward six months, my cars transmission goes out on the same car at just 64,000 miles — 4,000 miles over my warranty. By now, we all know this is a piece of crap car. Nissan wanted to charge me $ 250 just to look at it even though it had a recall on the transmission. Nissan supposedly fixed the transmission recall issue, but the car was still not running and they told me it ¨possibly¨ needed a new transmission which would run me at $ 4,000. I towed the car over to Oscar at Das Auto and he took a look at it (free of charge) and confirmed the transmission was out. He was charging me almost half price to fix it.
But wait — Oscar then took the time to search recalls on my car and told me this particular model had had a lot of issues reported. He sent various links to my husband and suggested we call Nissan Customer Service and complain. Who does that? Anyone else would have told me ¨Yeah. Your transmission is out! Too bad, at least I am charging you only half price to fix it.¨
Long story short — Nissan fixed my car for free because of all the links Oscar gave us. I literally saved a minimum of $ 2,500 because of Oscar. This is the most honest mechanic shop you will ever come by. Not everyone will give up a $ 2,500 paycheck to help out a complete stranger. I am so grateful, humbled and inspired by the ethics of this business. If you are having issues with your car — GO HERE. YOU ARE IN GOOD HANDS!

I had a great experience with DAS auto service. I called not long after they opened to get a quote for an oil change, they were so affordable so I had to head over asap. Once I was there I also asked them to check my breaks since I got a notification from my car saying they needed serviced. After getting my oil changed (quickly) they pulled off the tires and checked them, they also allowed me to come look at the pads to see they are low. Since I had errands I decided to wait, but I look forward to having my oil changes and other services done there in the future. Oh and they are so nice! They did seem to get busy around 9 – 9:30, so get there early if you are in a hurry.

My XB was making the strangest sound. I found DAS on Unilocal and decided from their reviews that they were the ones I was willing to go to.
I was more than pleased rolling out with my fixed XB. I know I got a fair price.
I found my go to mechanic. Oscar (owner) has got to be one of thee most trustworthy mechanics out there. His crew were more than helpful in pointing out what was wrong. They pointed to it. They replaced it. They showed me the broken part. I felt like I was a part of the fix haha.
I actually came back and fixed my brothers car the same day.

I recently bought a 2001 BMW without getting it checked first, and I went into the inspection with a lot of fear. DAS could have overcharged me and I would have accepted the shame of my bad purchase. Instead they inspected the car, found a possible issue, and booked time to look more into it without charging me for the inspection. Already I felt they were honest and great people to work with.
Whats next is even crazier.
I returned there today to inspect the heavy rattling issue from before, and we all expected it would be a suspension issue, but on inspection Joe found it was just the spare tire loose.
Ten minutes later, the rattling noise was gone and I was relieved. They could have charged me for this, but they refused.
I hope Oscar and his shop stay in business for a long time. I live 20 mi away but I’ll take my car there for all repair and maintenance needs.

First off — I would like to personally thank Oscar for taking care of my Nissan 370z. I would also like to point out the fact that DAS Auto Service has a consistent 5 star rating… quite rare for an autoshop!
I had a series of unfortunate circumstances — the shop that changed my oil caused a leak that could have seriously damaged the engine. I then had it towed because the car was stuttering while on the road. The tow company then ran the dolly (that had my car on it) into a sidewalk and destroyed the dolly and dropped my car 2 ft into the ground and continued to drag it 5 ft through the dolly parts.
Long story short, I was told that there was a $ 1k worth of damage not caused by the tow company that I should get fixed.
At this point, I had to get a second opinion, so I went to DAS Auto Service where Oscar did a full analysis on my car. Turns out that the $ 1k in repairs was not necessary, however, there was other damage that the Tow company (and the oil change company) was liable for. Oscar gave me some decent advice on what to do… and now my car is being taken care of at his shop.
I would have seriously regretted my decision (or worse yet, been completely unaware of what was going on with my car) had I not gone to DAS Auto Service.
I will be taking all of my family vehicles here in the future, if you live near Daly City, I wouldn’t go anywhere else. DAS Auto will take care of you.

I moved to San Francisco a year ago ans didn’t know any mechanics. My job demands about 400 miles a week on my car so I needed to find a place I could trust. From the moment I showed up Quan and Oscar treated me like a friend. They are honest and fast. They will keep your car running and they won’t charge you an arm and a leg to do it. Take your car to them and you will have nothing to worry about!

The Unilocal reviews don’t lie here! The hubby was ready to leave for work, tried to start his car and it made this weird churning noise. Crap-​ola! Called the dealership and they wouldn’t be able to even take a look at it til Thursday, which was almost a week from when he called!
We looked on Unilocal,call DAS and Quan said he’d be able to check it out that day! We had the car towed to the shop and they even brought my hubby home!
4 hours later, (super fast!) the car was fixed and they even had someone pick my hubby back up! That is amazing service!
Oscar, Quan and the rest of the employees are good peeps. They know what they are doing and really try to help the customer with the cost.
We’ll definitely be coming back for any future repairs. Don’t waste your time going anywhere else!
