History

Established in 1972.

In 1971, Dr. Loev extended his tour of duty in the US Navy just so that he would get based in San Francisco. Actually he was based on Treasure Island but lived in San Francisco. He fell in love with the San Francisco, the people and lifestyle. He met his wife here and raised his 3 children in Marin County. He is still very active in the community and enjoys exploring, playing golf, drinking wine and simply enjoying the Bay Area Lifestyle.

I had got a filling done from Dr. Loev that lasted 1 ½ yrs. for $ 318. A tiny piece chipped off recently I went in to get it fixed & he wants to charge me anther $ 318!!! To fix a chip?! He said if it was within a year he would have fixed it for free. I have never had to get a tooth re-​fixed by the same Dr. The fact that he wants to charge the same price he did the 1st time is outrageous & poor business practice! Choose a different Dr. Save your $

I started going to Dr. Loev in 2006 or 2007, and see him and Dr. Heinic. I love them both because they are so personable and treat you like family. The quality of work they provide is outstanding. I especially love going there when Dr. Heinic has to perform periodontal exam (the probing of the gum) because it’s the evaluation time to see if I’ve been good or bad with my oral hygiene. I love hearing that they are 2’s and 3’s. When I started, I had 4’s and 5’s. But with lots of encouragement from Dr. Heinic and brushing/​flossing on my part, my gum is better. They always keep you in the loop of what’s going on with your teeth so that you can plan for next year. For example, I have to get a crown and I won’t have any out of pocket because my FSA will cover it. I love them!!!

This was my first experience being treated by Dr. Loev personally — I have been going to this practice for many years and have always received excellent routine dental care. In this case I had an emergency situation and it was handled extremely well — I was able to get into the office on short notice and have my dental problem evaluated and treated with highly professional results. Top notch!

I’ve been going to Dr. Loev since 2007 and I could not be any happier with my dentists. I used to have some anxiety about going to the dentist. I can report now that I feel none of that, and a little part of me actually looks forward to it. Dr. Heinic, who cleans my teeth 3 – 4 times a year, always greets me with a smile, a hearty hello and an offer of a glass of water. He uses state-​of-​the-​art cleaning equipment, knows where my sensitive spots are, encourages and educates me on keeping my teeth healthy, and generally has me out of there in less than an hour. Dr. Loev is a professional’s professional who has handled a couple of heavier dental issues with skill, caring and personal warmth. Most recently I had a cosmetic procedure with Beth, who had deep experience in this particular procedure and delivered results better than I’d hoped.
I also appreciate that Dr. Loev’s team is aggressive in fighting for my maximum benefits from my insurance company.
This is the best dental team I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.

Dr. Loeve and his team are exceptional. I have been with them for over 10 years. Great atmosphere, very family oriented and great service and attention to the patient. Dr. Jain specifically has provided great advice on alternative ways to care for my teeth, mouth and gums. She has gently touch when cleaning, great experience.

Dr. Loev and his team are highly experienced and offer best-​in-​class service. While they are able to offer efficient and exact execution of specialized structural and cosmetic procedures, the practice is governed by a «what’s best for the patient» ethos. In particular, Dr. Jain is among the best dental professionals with whom I’ve worked in my extensive history. Confident, reposed, precise (as well as a pleasant conversationalist) are all traits Dr. Jain exhibits for regular and procedural visits. I cannot recommend Dr. Loev and Dr. Jain highly enough.

Excellent. Very attentive service, good advice, seemed to have my best interests at heart and were very nice about everything. Calming and accommodating. GREAT!
I have been going to Dr. Loev for 20 years. He is the best. Also, Dr. Jain is fantastic. They have everything I need. I have asked Dr. Jain to be super careful when cleaning my teeth, and she does that. They don’t call her Dr. Jain No Pain for nothing. Very thorough job and gentle. Dr. Loev could not be nicer. He has taken great care of me — and all who I have recommended for 2 decades (wow!).

I have been going to Dr Loev’s office for a few years now and everyone in the office is friendly and professional… Dr Loev is just great and his chairside assistants are caring and terrific to their patients… Elena at the front is wonderful and I have had my prophylaxis done by 2 different dentists and again– only professionalism and true concern for me as a patient. Everyone is cheerful and pleasant– That is so nice…

I absolutely hate dentists and I really do mean hate them. But Ed Loev is exceptional. I never thought I would ever say that I trust a dentist but this is a man I trust completely. After 13 visits, a bridge, a crown, replacement fillings, caps on my front teeth, loads of cleaning etc I know him well. I needed all this work because I had AVOIDED the dentist for so long.
I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Ed Loev to anyone, particularly to those who don’t like dentists because you will like this one.

Highlights:
— Super friendly, very personable (not scary at all)
— I didn’t get a feeling of them being rushed
— Explains what they’re doing (that is a high mark in my book)
— Low pressure setting in re: presenting treatment plan (offered to work with me in splitting payments)
— Nobody seemed tired or overworked (they seemed to like their job! [they say dentists have a high suicide rate relative to other professions, don’t forget.])
— Gave great advice on preventative measures with recommendations on products (none that they sell)
I don’t have dental insurance and they recognized that and provided helpful guidance as to what was most important to get done first and what can wait or what were cheaper alternatives. Definitely appreciate Dr. Loev and Dr. Jain and the Staff.

Every six months, like clockwork, I see Dr. Jain for my regular dental exam and cleaning. She alerts me to potential problems and comes up with a plan to address those before they become major issues. Dr. Jain has a gentle approach to cleaning but it is still very thorough. As a result, my dental health has never been better. Also, everyone at Dr. Loev’s office is friendly and, if it becomes necessary, helpful in rescheduling appointments.

I was looking for a new dentist and I am so happy I found this place! Dr. Loev was so, so nice as were the front desk staff and the dental hygienist who did my cleaning. My partner and I have been going to Dr. Loev’s office for well around 15 years and his office is one of the very best in the field. Dr. Loev always checks in with you when you are there even if you are not scheduled to see him that day. Dr. Heinic (also in the office) has been doing our teeth cleaning and x-​rays and he is as thorough as he is friendly and upbeat. Shephali Jani is an excellent new addition to the practice. We have had many procedures done in the office and the experience is always a good one. I used to dread going to the dentist and believe it or not they make it an experience that I now look forward to.

I definitely feel very comfortable with my care with Dr. Loev.
Dr. Jain truly causes no pain during cleanings — no whining ultrasound, no digging into the gums, just a patient and gentle cleaning that leaves you plaque free, and back out the door with minimal fuss.

What a wonderful experience!
The staff was incredible and Dr. Loev was incredible. He walked me through every step of the procedure and talked through all of the x-​rays. It made me much more comfortable and informed of what was happening throughout the appointment.
Dr. Jain cleaned my teeth did an impeccable job! She also gave recommendations around organic toothpastes and mouthwash so that I can continue to keep my teeth clean all year.

I love Dr. Loev. He is a very good dentist and has been nothing but stellar.
I will say though, the admin staff threw me off when I got a call from them asking for a phone number of a patient I recommend. Legally they are not allowed to tell me that this person is a patient of theirs (HIPAA). I thought it was inappropriate to ask me for that info.

After two visits to this dental office, I will definitely not be going back. Although the doctors have a good bedside manner, the administrative staff is extremely rude and not upfront about payment/​costs.
After my last standard cleaning, I was told at the end of the visit that I was «All set to go and no payment was required». This was as I expected as standard cleanings are covered under my insurance. Then, a month later, I get a bill in the mail. When I called the office about it, the receptionist, like a broken record, kept explaining to me that I was under some special «periodontal maintenance» program that required an extra payment not covered by insurance. This was never explained to me and I never received anything but the standard cleaning during my last visit. With the large number of excellent dentists in this city, I would not recommend this office.

After my experience with my last dentist (see my reviews), I was hesitant to go to one. Dentures were starting to sound like a good idea. And then I stumbled across a review for Dr. Loev. When I made the appointment, I let them know about my previous experience and that I was looking for a kind, sensitive, gentle dentist. Well, that’s exactly what I found. From the moment I walked in, it was like being at home. Melissa and Olena were incredibly welcoming as was the entire staff. They’d all been prepped that I could be a potential basket case but they certainly didn’t treat me like one. In all, 3 people had their hands in my mouth and all were gentle. So gentle that when Dr. Loev said I should probably have an old filling replaced, I jumped at the chance to do it the next day. Just as I had hoped, he was thorough, gentle, and patted my elbow a couple of times just to make sure I was ok.
I’d definitely recommend Dr. Loev and his staff to anyone, especially to basket cases like me with an irrational (or justified) fear of dentists.
