Terry Im DDS MS

Dr. Im came highly recommended for my gum graft surgery. I just finished my consultation and was very impressed. I feel very comfortable and confident. He was very knowledgable and reassuring.

This morning went back (10 months later) for a ‘healing abutment’ to be fitted (i.e. dig through the healed gum and screw something new onto the implant now it’s set; next step after this is the crown. Anyway, Dr Im absolutely rocks. He was in and out as nearly painlessly as you could imagine, in practically no time. He’s really nice guy. His staff are cool. Honestly, if you need serious stuff done (like implants) he’s the nicest guy in SF I’ve found and he’s somewhat less ruinously expensive than the other local options.
FWIW you could also consider flying to Costa Rica if you’re on a tight budget and lots to get done — I’ve done that twice, first time great, second time not quite so great but I still recommend it — something like ¹⁄₈^th the cost of SF.

I recently went to Dr Im’s office for scaling and root planing, which is a very involved cleaning that gets deep under the gums. Like most folks I’m not crazy about dental visits, but the hygienist, Jenny, made me feel at ease despite the fact that I had to receive quite a few novocaine shots for the procedure. The process had to be broken up into two sessions, but it was pretty painless overall, and if I keep up with my flossing it’ll just be standard cleanings from here on out. My wife has also been treated by Dr. Im and been happy with the results.

I don’t normally write review (in fact this is the first review I’ve ever written!) but I had such a great experience with Dr. Im that I felt I just had to write.
I had some major work done on my gums and Dr. Im was terrific. During the initial visit he did a thorough exam and then took the time to patiently explain all my options without the medical terminology that allowed me to understand what was going on. When I finally went in for my procedure he again asked if I had any questions and did a great job of allaying my fears and concerns. A first rate doctor and first class practice.
I don’t know anybody who likes going to their teeth worked on, but if you to, do yourself a favor and go to see Dr. Im. He’s very knowledgable, laid back and easy to talk to and the staff is terrific.

Choosing a good dentist is pretty hard but I’m glad I went to Dr. Im. I had a front tooth that needed to be pulled out and an immediate implant placed. I couldn’t be walking around like the dude in The Hangover. I knew I would be a difficult case because I’m pretty picky about my teeth and how they look. Dr. Im knew my concerns and succeeded with flying colors.
His chair side manner was very professional and office staff is awesome. He explains things thoroughly and made me feel comfortable throughout the whole procedure. He was able to make me look like as if nothing happened.

I have waited more than year to write this review!
The reason for waiting was to see the result of the treatments and and I wanted to be objective and truthful as much as possible on the integrity and professionalism of his practice.
When I was looking for a good periodontist on Unilocal,I felt a lot of those reviews are very emotional (no logic what so ever!) or based on one visit only! plus pain level and healing process may vary in deferent patients.
I looked up the list of the doctors (approved by my insurance) and chose him based on educational background and distance from where I live.
Just got so lucky!!! Great periodontist and a good man.
I am recommending him after having few procedure done very successfully at his practice.
He is very good at what he does, and also he will not recommend an immediate and aggressive treatment if it’s not necessary. (excellent example of a fair and conservative periodontist) in one case he asked me to wait longer and not rush into it.
Now about the actual experience:
–I never had to get the second injection to maintain the numbness which a very good sign. I have seen dentists that cant even do that properly !
–Steady hands.
–Stitches where firm and precise.
–No problem with excessive bleeding after getting the graft done.
–Donner area healed quickly and I can’t even notice it now.
— Sometimes grafts need a touch up later and you should expect that. He is committed to do his best.
