Prince Graham Hip Hop

My fiancé and I chose Prince for our First Dance instructions and choreography after meeting up with a couple of other options.
On a scale of 1 to 10, my dancing skills is about a 1.5 (though Prince and my now wife might disagree about that extra 0.5 I gave myself). Prince was very patient with me and simplified so many of the moves for me so I wouldn’t get too frustrated with myself.
Two huge HUGE pros about going with Prince is that he is not a «clock watcher» as he said many times himself. He NEVER said, oh, sorry, your hour is up, we’ll have to end today’s session in the middle of a routine. He has stayed up to 30 mins extra with us on at least one occasion. I felt bad that he worked so late but he was totally into getting us ready. The other awesome thing was how he would mix the dance music for us in his own time and choreograph it with his personal style while integrating our inputs. He had so many brilliant ideas!
A couple of really minor cons — his rate is not cheap, but he’s worth every penny as he is so good. The second and third sessions, he would still work out the routines during our sessions instead of having it prepared beforehand. But it is very minor as he always stay longer to make sure we’re on pace for the wedding day and it only happened in like 2 of the 10 sessions we had with him.
I can’t neglect to mention that he is extremely flexible with scheduling to accommodate our working hours and other wedding preparations. He also made the lessons fun, which is not easy to do with a non-​dancer like myself. Lastly, he came to our wedding to support us! Funny thing was that during the open dance portion, he was trying to help me learn the Electric Slide, always the instructor :)

Absolutely LOVED his Hip Hop dance class at UCSD! Every move he teaches just seems so right and the music he chooses is just fantastic. He also is GREAT at building on movements you already know how to do. For example He taught an entire room of beginners how to walk it out, by first using the twist then showing the subtle differences that make the walk it out from the twist. TOTALLY AWESOME. And you wont get bored even on the RARE occasion he chooses a song that was overplayed on the radio. I wish I was still in SD to take his classes.

i am deducting half a star because he does not have his own studio yet, last time i checked. this man seriously needs it because he is doing it all… he can sing, dance, choreograph, has a strong sense of style and other creative stuff i probably don’t even know about!
you will feel comfortable in prince’s classes. he’s there for you at your level, whether you are a beginner or a burgeoning professional. i’ve taken lot of his classes and a couple of workshops. all were great experiences and i never walked away feeling like i wasted my time. the man is also hilarious and has a quick wit. you will always be entertained. the music is always hot too… he knows how to choose his music.
prince is probably the ONLY instructor in san diego who offers performance workshops. this is big, people. if you ever get the opportunity, seize it. prince will choreograph a fly little number for the participants, encourage you and the other dancers to grow as a fledgling «hip hop team,» and push you individually to exhibit your strength as a dancer, whether it’s showing off those flares, freezes, and top rocks, or getting girly with your hip hop. then, you will have the opportunity to craft and plan your performance outfits, clean up your moves in dress rehearsal, and perform live for an audience in the community. he has a pretty good connection with the people who organize the annual dance festival in balboa park. i performed there twice and let me tell you — it was a blast.
with prince you can take classes just for fun, or you can try to take it to the next level. he will also let you know about auditions with a more permanent crew if you are so inclined.

Dance Lovers: now is your chance to Get Live! I had such an amazing experience learning some hip hop moves at Prince Graham’s hip hop class. His energy is absolutely amazing; he is so positive, caring and easy to follow.
I can’t even write this without a grin on my face as I would never think of myself as someone who would take a hip hop class — although I love to dance. To my surprise, hip hop is not only extraordinarily fun and exciting, it is a tremendous workout. The first class I took (before meeting Prince) left me in corpse position for about 2 days … and I wasn’t out of shape!
Prince offers special classes, summer camps and a variety of programs for youth groups. However, his classes are very suitable for adult dance lovers and you will feel very comfortable regardless of your age or ability. Trust me. The first class I took with Prince was when I unexpectedly got the urge to join in on a hip hop class that was outdoors in the middle of a festival in Balboa Park. I had THE BEST TIME. My friends and I laughed so hard while listening and moving to Soulja Boy. Tears come to my eyes at the very thought of what we looked like out there among all those kids doing our thing — with an audience!
But who cares, right? I’m sure Prince would say something like: You live this life one time. Live large. Follow your dream. Dare to go with how you feel. Break out of the box!
I have seen Prince perform in various venues and will definitely take another class with him. He creates spaces of love so that people of all ages can experience the comfort of moving from within — without one ounce of reservation. How liberating is that? Cheers to being real without a second thought. Cheers to Prince and his ability to offer and encourage authentic self-​expression.
