Don’t know how to Swing Dance? No problem. We offer the most extensive and affordable swing dance program in San Diego for Beginners. Over 1000 people have taken our *Swing Basics* and *Lindy 101* 90-​Day Swing Dance Challenges. Learn the basics of Jitterbug, Lindy Hop and Charleston Swing Dancing.

History

Established in 1998.

For 15 years, the Firehouse Swing Dance has been THE weekly spot in San Diego where all the local Jitterbug, East Coast, Charleston, Balboa and Lindy Hop Swing Dancers congregate. Originally located at the San Diego Center for Moving Arts (a renovated «firehouse»), the Firehouse Swing Dance is now located at Queen Bee’s Cultural Center for the Arts in the heart of North Park (3925 Ohio St., 92 104).

With 7 weekly classes from 6 of the best swing dance instructors in town plus our weekly social dance from 9p-​12a every Wednesday, the Firehouse Swing Dance is a great place to experience the diversity of swing dancing in San Diego. So come get some aerobic exercise, hang out with friends old and new, and perhaps, even meet the love of your life — we have testimonials to prove it!

Business Owner

Meeshi Ravi has spread his joy for swing dancing in San Diego since 1998. He has taught swing classes at all of San Diego’s major local universities (UCSD, SDSU, and USD) and has been the main promoter/​organizer of several of San Diego’s most popular swing venues including the La Jolla Marriott (1998 – 1999), Café Savoy (1999 – 2002), Stompin’ at the Aubergine (2003 – 2004), Soul Swingers at Kava Lounge (2004 – 2005), Belly Up Swing Matinée (2008 – 2009) and the ever-​popular Firehouse Swing Dance (1998-​present), San Diego’s longest running Lindy Hop Swing venue.

Meeshi has studied extensively with some of the best swing dancers in the world, and continues to broaden his movement studies through his Bheemashakti Yoga practice and traditional Afro-​Cuban dance, performing with local Afro-​Cuban folkloric troupe, Omo Ache Dance Company.
