Dance With Liza opened in 2007, however instructor Liza has been teaching dance since 2002.

Liza M.

Business Owner

Fun, friendly, flexible, talented, and patient are some of the words students have used to describe dance instructor and DJ Liza. Liza has been choreographing and teaching beautiful wedding dances as well as beginning to intermediate level country dancing, ballroom dancing, swing dancing, and Latin dancing in San Diego for fourteen years. She was professionally trained at Mac Vitties Dance Studio where she taught for a few years and then branched out on her own furthering her training with experts in the field. Liza has been dancing all her life and loves inspiring and motivating people. She is interested in teaching students for fun or in preparation for their wedding or special event. Liza also enjoys being a DJ, specializing in country western-​themed events and hoedowns. She draws upon her experience working for Black Tie DJs. Her favorite part of her job is making people happy.

I found Liza here on Unilocal.We booked her services for wedding dance lessons. We wanted a somewhat choreographed first dance and we are both not great dancers. Liza worked with us every step of the way and made us an amazing first dance. We ended up taking about 10 lessons and probably needed a few more but time ran out! Everyone at our wedding was so surprised and loved our first dance. I recommend her for beginners as well as advanced. She really knows her stuff. I still go to Liza for country line dance lessons every Monday! If you are looking for a first dance instructor to impress all your guest Liza is it!

Liza is an excellent instructor! We had just a few weeks to practice our first dance song. I had no idea how easy Liza literally made up a whole 3 minute choreographed first dance song. We had picked out our song but didnt realize the different tempos it had. My fiancé had a huge background in dance while I had literally ZERO experience. I had watched a few youtube videos before but I had no experience (confidence) with turns and steps. Our first lesson was two sessions of 45 minutes back-​to-​back where we hashed out our dance for our song. Then my fiancé and I practiced it throughout the week. Then we came back for a 3rd lesson where we really placed the finishing touches. She was very easy going but sure does know her dance moves/​steps. We’ll definitely be back for some moves when we want to learn some line-​dancing! Thank you Liza!

My husband and I took 3 lessons with Liza in preparation for our first dance at our wedding. Liza was the perfect choice! We told her what we were looking for and not only did she listen but she came up with ideas that fit our style and comfort level. Our dance was SO US! My fiancé and I decided at the very last minute (3 weeks prior to our wedding) that we should take dance lessons for our first dance at our wedding. We found Liza on Unilocal and she was fantastic. She even helped us pick our song! We did not want anything too choreographed and Liza helped us plan a dance that was classic and not too over the top planned.
Liza was very professional and very patient with us. She is creative and breaks the moves down so it becomes easy to learn. She helped give us the confidence to kill our first dance song. Thank you, Liza for everything.

I am so glad we found dance with Liza. My fiancé was nervous about learning a first dance, but Liza is so good at listening to what you want out of the experience, and tailoring both the dance and her teaching to you, that he was totally comfortable and even had fun. I really appreciated that while she super nice and funny, she was efficient and didn’t waste your time. She helped us create a first dance that didn’t feel over the top choreographed, but was still interesting both to dance and to watch. I never write reviews but I had to write one for her because she is just so good! I am SO HAPPY we found her, and I would recommend her to anyone without reservations.

My husband and I found Liza when we wanted to take dance lessons prior to our first dance at our wedding. We were dancing to a Frank Sinatra song so we wanted to ensure that we looked good… as I explained to Liza at our first meeting, we didn’t want it to look stiff and choreographed, but we wanted it to have a bit of panache! She completely understood what we were looking for and helped us plan a dance that we loved.
Liza is creative, patient and understands how to help people with different styles learn. I like to learn a dance based on what steps go with a certain part of the song, while my husband likes to have it based on numbers (6-​count or 8-​count, depending on the step). Liza was able to do both so that we could look graceful in our fox trot. We mastered the sway step, box step, numerous turns, and a fabulous finish with a dip. The guests loved it!

Liza coordinated our first dance for our wedding in May. Let me just start off by saying that my poor husband has NO dance skills whatsoever and is not a very patient man, he was also terrified to be doing this. Liza was a complete professional and handled us both with such ease and natural ability. There were a couple of dance lessons where I didn’t think we were ever going to get this right and tensions were very high, Liza stepped in without a problem and cooled the tension. She helped my husband become more confident in his dance step and even taught him a couple of moves that he now loves to do whenever we are out.
We can’t thank Liza enough for the amazing work she did with us to get us to our big day, she was fantastic in every single way. If you are looking for a great instructor who is kind, caring and extremely talented, then look no farther, Liza is the girl for you!

We throw a major party every couple of years.
This time the theme was «Hoedown» and we asked Liza to be our combination DJ and dance instructor. Liza came to our home twice to carefully plan the music, dance lessons and sound system, so the evening went very smoothly.
She has a wealth of knowledge about country western dance songs and got our guests off their chairs and onto the dance floor.
We especially appreciated her initiative in awarding prizes for costumes and dance floor flair.

Liza really is amazing; she came to our home for our first lesson, choreographed a beautiful dance to the song we chose and was really patient with us. She is kind but to the point which was really helpful to keep us on track when it was difficult. I can’t emphasize how pleased we are with her. The dance was a hit! We had such a great time learning to dance for our wedding with Liza! She was helpful in choosing a song and made helpful suggestions on song/​dance style pairings. We ended up learning to dance 2 different styles (tango and swing) for our first dance. We had 5 private lessons total over about 6 weeks and really had so much fun at all our sessions. She personalized it well and choreographed something that allowed us to freestyle a bit, show off all our practice, and had some definite wow-​factor as well. Thanks again, Liza!

My wife (then fiancé) and I took approximately 10 dance lessons with Liza for our wedding in the summer of 2014. We had no idea what we were doing prior to seeing Liza. I wanted to surprise my wife with some country dance lessons for our date nights and Liza was the perfect fit. 1st off she was very flexible and accommodating to meet our scheduling needs. 2nd she is very professional and informative, but at the same time very easy to work with. 3rd and best of all she is super fun and makes the lessons exciting. After meeting with Liza we are now dancing the salsa and the two step fox trot and making basic turns with just a few lessons. My husband and I had decided that we wanted to take dance lessons in preparation for our wedding. Though I have had some dance experience, my husband had no training and very little rhythm! We went to see Liza, and it didn’t take long before we had a beautiful waltz routine for our first dance! I was surprised at how knowledgeable and patient Liza was with both my husband and myself.
