Cass Street Automotive

This company has been servicing my companies vans for a few years. We were working with another auto shop, but my partner liked the manager who worked there and when he moved to Cass st auto we followed. Ron is a really nice guy and easy to work with.
I’ve started bringing my personal vehicles there and when my wife has gone she also enjoys their service. Last time she went by she had to leave her car and they drove her home .

5-​Star experience without a doubt. I had an issue with my brake light switch for my Hyundai Accent. Ron knew exactly was I was talking about and quoted me a two hour-1:30p pick up time. As I returned at 1:30p, car was waiting for me complete out front. All for under $ 100. Great service and very friendly. Couldn’t have asked for much more.

Hey out there, these guys are super nice. Up and up, straight to the point, no pressure, great mechanics. Obviously, take a lot of pride and have so much passion in their craft. They like and respect eachother, like a family. More important, making customers happy. Ron is a terrific guy, fun to hang with, enjoys friendly people and goes out of his way to make sure you’re taken care of. All with a big smile and happy way. You just want to hug him. Took my car to them twice and know I will again. So reassuring, to find a place I feel great with. I don’t even mind a break, while waiting, Like walking to beach, or a bite to eat around the corner. Great American local business. I took my truck to Cass automotive to get a brake job based on Unilocal reviews. Wow, I so impressed with Ron’s customer service, knowledge of cars, parts, employees, and pricing. Since then I have taken my girlfriend, and company vehicles to Cass. It’s hard to find Honest Companies now days and it’s nice to have one locally. Thanks Ron, Cesar, and everybody else who has helped me at Cass automotive

Dilemma. Do I give this place the review it deserves, and decrease my chances of getting an appointment when I need it? Or do I give them a bad review, and take out my competition?
I’ll go with the former. Randy and his crew deserve all of the praise that they get. Randy’s so chill. I agree with the previous reviewers — he’s very trustworthy, and definitely treats you as if you’re a person (rather than walking dollar signs). There is no reason for me to go anywhere else for my car troubles. I’m so glad I found Cass Auto :)

These guys were the absolute best. This is definitely the most trustworthy mechanic you will find in Pacific Beach. Ron was an awesome guy that knew I was on a budget and he helped me get my car all set for smog. They remember their customers and I could tell they were genuinely trying to help me out. I called in and scheduled an appointment ahead of time, my cars check engine light came on and it started at a real high rpm and then started to sputter out. Ronnie laid out a plan for doing a general diagnostic then fixing whatever needed to be fixed, it didn’t take long at all even though they had 5 cars ahead of me. He was very accommodating with my schedule and gave me a call when everything was finished. My car runs great now and it didn’t cost me my pay check, I also checked how much the parts were they were replacing online and compared prices they charged me and they were similar. They don’t rip you off here, very informative, do a good job fixing your car and telling you what they did/​need now. Can’t ask for more from an automotive.

Had a Groupon deal to get an oil change with systems inspection. I made an appointment and they were very easy to make an appointment with. I believe I was speaking to Randy about my car and he was extremely helpful and knowledgable, I usually feel very pressured and oversold on things and he did not do any of this. He explained things to me I did not understand, offered me realistic quotes for things I needed done, and did not try to push me on anything unnecessary. He answered all my questions and I will definitely be coming back here for more work. The service took no longer than they said it would (1 hour 20 min) and when I came back a little early because I wasn’t feeling well, Randy was beyond helpful in getting my car ready and back to me. Their prices are completely affordable too. Highly recommend!

Don’t recommend going to this place if you value your time even a little bit. Even after calling ahead and making an appointment, my parts where still not ordered. Showing up right at the time the place is supposed to be open didn’t help either, it was still closed. Instead of offering any reasonable solution owner just told me I would have to wait for an hour more which mean it was going to take him 2,5 hours to replace just one part instead of previously planned 1,5. It isn’t exactly what I was expecting. If it is ok for him to be late for work it doesn’t mean it is ok for everybody else. Very disorganized place. Anyway, after calling around I discovered their pricing isn’t so fair either. Go to other places, there are plenty of them in PB. And there was no apology. Rude and entitled.

First trustworthy mechanic I’ve been to in years. These guys are great. High quality, HONEST and friendly service. No BS’n and upselling. They tell you what work you need done and how critical it is to get done now or later. Very informative and fair prices too.
Brought my 2000 Suburban in for an oil change. I will definitely be coming back for any future automotive issues.

I decided on this business because of there location so
close to my work. I parked my vehicle inside
their parking lot. As i walked in the office I greeted
the older man behind the counter with saying out loud
good morning and totally ignored me. I stood there and
he never looked up at me to acknowledge me. (keep in mind
the office is as big as a big bathroom stall so there is
no way he didn’t see or hear me) Right after a lady walks in
behind me and he immediately started assisting her. A few seconds later,
another lady walked in and he helped her as well. I was a bit confused as to why
I was being ignored. I walked outside and asked one of the
workers who do I need to talk to, to get service here and he said you need to talk with
the man inside. I said I did but, hes helping everyone else but me. I walked in one
last time hoping to get service and nothing. so i walked to my vehicle and left extremely disappointed.

Cass street auto is by far the best in the SD/​PB area when it comes to taking care of your car! I took my Dodge in to have it checked out and the service I received was excellent. Being a young female, I expect to be treated unfairly by mechanics due to the nature of just being a female. Not only did they explain to me all that was wrong with my car but took the time to talk to my dad on the phone to communicate effectively and agree with what they were to do to fix it. They definitely went above and beyond what a normal auto shop would do! I highly recommend you have these guys take car of your car!

Excellent fast friendly service every time. I’ve taken three vehicles to these folks over the past five years. It’s a very good feeling when you find a trustworthy and reliable shop, especially within walking distance of my house. Easy five stars

Today was probably the first and only time I’ve ever had a great experience with an automotive repair service… ever. A few things I was impressed with were:
The Groupon voucher I had included a nice list of things they checked.
The owner, Randy, was super chill and so nice. He talks to and treats you like a person! WOW. I think it’s called… customer service? Randy’s got it. Not too sure what these negative reviews are all about (p.s. we’re all human and are all entitled to a hot, cranky, moody day from time to time).
The service was prompt (honestly thought it would take upwards of 5+ hours) for doing the oil change and stuff, plus replacing the battery and a few old belts.
The price was NOT BAD AT ALL. I was prepared for a bill of a few hundred dollars but walked away paying just under $ 200.
All in all, I’ll probably be back again. This place was the shit and I highly recommend calling and making an appt with them!

I have no idea why this place rated so high, I called in ask for a quote, for replacing a compliant bushing, I bought my own parts, just want to know what’s the labor cost. The guy is supper inpatient, and rude! He told me the labor cost and said it’s including the alignment. I don’t know much about cars, so I asked him, do I have to have alignment done when I replace the bushing, and he said you don’t have to but your car is going to be out of alignment, and it’s going to be a big problem. So I said that means I have to have it done, right? And he told me «you know what? you are kind of client I really don’t want to work with, you are kind of person I will turn away!!!» WTF!!! I guess this place is getting too much business, they really don’t want more work. I really don’t understand how on earth this kind of person still in the business!!! I think they just really need kind of clients that don’t care anything about any work has to be done to their cars, and just let them do and charge whatever they want. if you have any question about anything, they will tell you to F**k off! So if you what to know what are you paying for, don’t even think about his place!!!

If you really «no longer do customer supplied parts repairs», you could of just tell me when I said I have the parts, but instead you told me you will do the labor only and than Insulted me when I asked some further questions. I know you only use after market parts, that’s why I bought my own parts. I think you realize you are not making as much the money as you want out of selling the aftermarket parts, that when you start to insult people and turn them away!

Had a positive experience: the owner is friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. No BS here. He also seemed to have a lot of long-​time customers, which is always a good sign. Will be returning!

Very pleased with all the work I’ve had done here (oil changes, new tires, new clutch, etc). They are punctual, communicate well, and do very quality work. Even the price is reasonable when compared to competition. I would highly recommend them!

It is hard these days to find good quality trusted auto technicians… I found Cass street auto when I lived right down the street, I took a chance on the previous Unilocal ratings and was very satisfied. As the ratings proved to be exact… Jeremy the office manager was informative and very nice. No bullshit, or hassle, to the point and printed out what I needed. The auto techs did a great job and were fast and efficient. I don’t make a lot of money at all but the price was just right for my budget… Anything that I pay for my car is expensive to me BUT, well worth it for the work that is done here. I have a family and I feel safe knowing my family vehicle was worked on by Cass Street auto.

Long story short, the service I received was great, timely, and at a great price. The advice they gave me was honest. I will keep going back as long as my car needs service.
I have a 1998 Honda Passport that I bought used and on the cheap. I knew when I bought the car that it would need some major maintenance in the near future. When it started making noises and running rough I started my search for a good repair shop. After getting a couple of quotes that I felt were too high I gave Cass Street Automotive a call to get another quote. I was able to get an appointment for two days after I called. I showed up for my appointment and dropped my car off and explained my concerns. Two hours later they had a complete diagnosis including a price. The answered all of my questions and gave me very honest advice for how I should proceed. I told them to go ahead with the major maintenance I needed and my car was done the next day for the price they quoted me (Which was much less than any of the other quotes I got).
I am very satisfied with the advice and service provided by Cass Street. You cant go wrong with this shop.

Let me caveat this by first stating that I am literally writing my first review, solely based upon the professionalism and courtesy of Cass Street Automotive.
Finding a good mechanic is difficult, especially a competent one that is also trustworthy. I went to Unilocal to locate one near me, and I have to say that Cass Street Automotive definitely deserves all of their five-​star rating.
I had my car towed there one afternoon after the clutch stopped receiving pressure. I didn’t have a ride outta there (was going to Über it), but the manager had an employee stop their work and drive me over the rental car place.
I was signing the paperwork finalizing my rental car, and Cass St. had already called me after diagnosing my vehicle. Yes, they looked at and diagnosed it within about an hour. Was definitely not expecting that.
They ordered the part, which came in three days early, and by about 24 hours later, I was repair complete and paid no more than the original estimate.
I highly recommend this auto shop and will definitely use it again in the future, as well as refer any and all friends who are looking for somewhere to get repairs done.
