First time stopping while headed to the airport. Patty melt and fries. Enjoyed my meal and had great service. I will come back when I’m headed to the airport and I’m early. Seems like a great place to wait until they call to say the plane has arrived.

If you’ve ever seen Mulholland Drive, this is where they filmed the diner scene. Don’t go behind the dumpster. Good Breakfast in a «I’m drunk at 2AM» kind of way.

I have been to both Mickey’s Diner locations in St. Paul quite a few times, this one being one of them. I prefer the other location over this one. However, on their behalf, I find this place more convenient than the other one and easier to access. When I walk in here, I feel like I am in a small-town low budget restaurant, which is not always a good thing. I do not feel the most comfortable when I am in here. This place also often has a strange odor that is hard to explain, and it has nothing to do with food. The employees do not always stay on top of their cleaning duties. Some days are better than others. I have had days when I sat down to a table that had just been cleaned the second that I sat down. In these instances, the employees were apologetic. There have been other days when the employees do superb at keeping everything clean and organized. I will say on their behalf that I have almost always been pleased with their food quality. The food here is almost always delicious. The plate has been served to me in a reasonable amount of time after I place my order. I mostly order from the breakfast menu. The waiters here are also friendly. Some of them are good at holding a good conversation on their slow times. They are also good at making suggestions when I am looking to possibly try something new. When I am in the area, I do not always expect the best of the best. I go here mostly for their food quality and not so much everything else. Everything else is a hit and miss. When possible, I still recommend the downtown location over this one.

Going to Mickey’s is, more or less, going for the nostalgia. I remember it as a local dive when I lived in the area. As well as a location for«The Mighty Ducks»(it was the restaurant Charlie’s mother worked at.) That aside, it doesn’t really hold any strong suit in terms of upkeep, flavor, or menu specials. Mickey’s a is a basic, small diner. It is what it is. Going in, the wait staff was friendly enough. Mickey’s is quite small and narrow. I don’t believe could see more than fifty. Even trying to recall, that seems very high. Thus, the wait staff pretty much do everything. From cook to serve to clean to host. They did a fine job juggling. We didn’t go at an extremely busy time. The food was nothing to rave about. Mickey’s isn’t really ‘known’ for anything though. Their food was fine, but it wasn’t exactly miraculous either. Just like the diner itself, it was what it was. We received are food in a timely manner and ate it promptly. Our waitress was going to refill our coffees, but got busy with a few folks at the counter-top. The waiter that helped us previously was on a smoke break.(Which we found out because they just have a table, chair, and ashtray right in front of the parking lot they go to. We decided to call it and head on our way. Mickey’s is definition of ‘Meh’. It would probably not be my first choice for any reason, but since it’s open 24hrs and I was starving… I would go back. The prices are fair. The food is edible, but nothing I couldn’t do in 5 – 20 minutes in my own kitchen. I WOULDSUGGEST: They move their smoking spot in the back so my child doesn’t see our waiter puffing away while we walk to our car.

Why do people on here think a restaurant is acceptable as a ‘dive.” I understand the term«dive bar» but the term should never be applied to a place that you place your health in their hands. Too bad because the food was three stars, but if I gave you 5 star food on a pile of poop, would you still call it 5 star food? Nasty, dirty, unapologetic. Whatever you do, try not to look at the disgusting ceiling dropping God only knows what in your food. If you cannot clean them, at least replace them. They are pretty inexpensive. Super busy Saturday rush but the cobwebs were more than two days old. Only one waitress for the place and only saw her when we ordered. Went to leave, she told us she could not get back to correct our food because she is also the only dishwasher. She did tell me that the cook doesn’t believe in salting the fries, but serving them bland, but the other cook uses salt. I blame myself for staying. I wanted it to be cute. I would have complained but the manager was outside smoking while checking out his cell phone.

I would not recommend this place. The times I have been here the service has not been good. One time, I applied for a job before ever eating there. I told the manager that at my last job I would handle food, cutting tomatoes, lettuce. etc and the manager simply said to me «no you didn’t.» …excuse me? How would you know what I have done and not done in my previous jobs? Rude. I was so offended by that. I came back months after with friends and got a cheeseburger. Not good. Tasted like a Burger King cheeseburger but the burger was falling out of the bun and when I ordered cheese on my burger and told my server I didn’t receive cheese, no problem, people make mistakes. she rolled her eyes and walked into the kitchen and was talking badly about me to the chef like I couldn’t hear. I will never return. There seems to be no rules here and no one is polite or tries to make their customers happy.

Absolutely gross. Disgusting. Never again. Dirty tables, dirty staff, dirty floor, dirty plates, but the flies were clean. Food was bland, tasteless.

This was my first stop from the airport as I was hungry and it was 1am. There’s quite a number of people here even at that time. I ordered the cheeseburger($ 5) and fries($ 3). So it sounded cheap, but I was disappointed with what was served on my plate. The cheeseburger was literally a giant patty with a slice of cheese –so plain. And the fries were simply a handful at most. I felt short-handed but oh wells. Even after finishing everything, I also ate some of my friend’s French toast because I wasn’t fully satisfied.

I don’t understand the lack of stars here. This place is the perfect diner. Best pancakes in the world and I don’t even like pancakes. Servers with just the right amount of attitude. A simple and delish menu. Sometimes you just want a super greasy, horribly unhealthy breakfast and Mickey’s delivers. no you will not find a spinach goat cheese omelette on the menu but sometimes you just need a plain ham, cheese and egg monstrosity to make you question your sanity and rejoice in the power of the digestive system. Mickey’s is that place. Also, this one doesn’t feel like you dove into a tub of crisco when you walk in… count that as a plus for me.

Stopped alone while making an airport run, bellied up to the counter and was promptly served water and coffee. The crowd thinned as I enjoyed my breakfast special, didn’t feel rushed or guilty for reading the paper and having a couple more cups of delicious coffee that needed no cream or sugar. Very friendly staff and locals.

I have been eating here for several years now and I love the short stack pancakes with two eggs over hard. Under $ 10. Small place, fast and friendly. They have plenty of other options for food too. Open almost all the time and a place to sit without waiting. Try ‘em out!

Just get the pancakes. You can’t go wrong. I’m a sucker for diners, the kind where your server is also the host, the cook, and the busser. You gotta give them CRED because they basically ‘run’ an entire restaurant. Our server — and I’m kicking myself for not knowing his name since I see him there all the time — was attentive and helpful. He took our order and had hot food on our table in under 10 minutes. I always order the pancakes on rainy days, and have always loved them. The short stack will fill you up. The hashbrowns — greasy & crispy — in true diner fashion. The only thing to watch for occasionally is the syrup; make sure it isn’t stale before you dump the entire container on your flatcakes. Your coffee cup will always be full, your food will always be hot, and your service will always be quick. Mickey’s is open 24/7, so this place is a no-brainer.

My boyfriend and I frequent here about once a week. Always late at night for breakfast: 1. Any guy behind the counter working knows our drinks before we even sit down. 2. All the guys know I’m leaving with a blueberry muffin to go. 3. French toast is the sh*t. 4. Get an egg on your burger. It’s amazing. Anyone that complains about this place needs to step outside and take a look at where they are– take in the environment and really– what more can you expect but a sick ass diner that’s open 24⁄7! Old school stools, fast cooking and welcoming booths.

I don’t get why everyone is hating on this place, it was perfect! Yes it is a dive, yes it is a dinner, but what are you expecting? On my most recent trip to Minnesota we took the red eye(pretty usual for us) but all the places we wanted to stop and get breakfast at were either out of the way or closed, so as we passed Mickey’s I said lets go there. I’m so glad we did. It was freezing cold outside, we were bone tired, and I was hungry. I got an order of blueberry pancakes with a side of bacon. Heaven! Pure heaven! The pancakes were some of the best I have ever had. Fluffy, buttery, and the blueberries were so juicy. The bacon was thick and crunchy. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. This place is perfect for when you are tired, have traveled far, or had a late night. Curl up in a booth, have some comfort food, and just let the warmth of this place soak in. 9⁄100

Its a flash back into time and always reminds me of the Jingle all the way movie that took place in Minnesota way back when(though this isn’t the exact location) The menu items are still all the same it seems like they do have new owners to this specific location that a few new menu items are added not on the actual menus but posted in large neon posters on the windows like chicken wings. Fun place to go once just to say you ate at mickeys and yes its a greasy spoon but its open 24⁄7 has the old classic diner feel and will always remain a classic in the neighborhood. Plus I like the little stools you can sit on watching your food being cooked in front of you.

Total dive with mediocre food; a dreary, beat-up restaurant inside and a cursed look to it on the outside, fair game to call this place a hole in the wall. Regret going here, will never go back. No redeeming value whatsoever, except that our waitress was nice. May try the original place with the diner car someday if the menu offerings are different there. Food selection is as unoriginal as you can get. Greasy spoon x10.

This is the second location of Mickey’s down the street– not the dining car location. Very divey looking inside and out, but sometimes that can be charming… not so much here though. Just looks kind of old and run down. Service was fine, and food was okay. Got scrambled eggs, hash browns«O’Brian»(with peppers and onions) and hubby had the jumbo french toast. Food was decent, just nothing to write home about, and definitely have had better at Waffle House. Kind of want to visit the original location because it looks so neat and retro but if the food is the same I’m not even interested. There is nothing that sets this place apart.

Delicious, bang-for-your buck proportion, veggie omelette. They added a lil’ too much butter upon prepping it in the pan, but I’ll let it slide. Somewhat traditional diner, that may need a facelift. Friendly service, good price, convenient for those en route to MSP or downtown St. Paul. I recommend it.

I love this Mickey’s. The Downtown one is good for bringing tourists and going out late downtown with friends but this one is usually much quieter and still has a great diner atmosphere. The food is super greasy(duh) so beware if for some reason you didn’t come here because of the greasy food. Mohammed is the best server/cook! Nicest man ever :) Give him a big tip! The hashbrowns here are incredible. And it’s open 24⁄7!
